Chapter 379: Payback (2)

Regardless, Luke wanted to transform his mana into experience and gold coins. It was better to forget those complicated things. He just wanted to save his family and friends. Everything else was inconsequential for Luke.7 In any case, the easiest way for Luke to achieve that would be by using Transmute. However, once again, he had to understand what was the end goal to be able to transform things into that. His theory seemed sound, but Luke still was missing something. He was certain of it...

"Transmute mana into something that I can’t see... something that I can use in the shop," Luke thought. "There isn’t a skill like that, I am sure."

While Luke probably could use Transmute to turn things into real money, that wasn’t something that he wanted or needed. He needed something more conceptual... After thinking for a while, Luke had an idea. Not no idea of how he could obtain gold coins by using his mana in raw form. While using his mana, Memory Manipulation, and Transmute, he made a mana crystal that had the memories of him single-minded training his Swordsmanship.

As soon as Luke absorbed the crystal, he didn’t feel the headache when like he had absorbed the memories of his mana clones, but he felt his whole body hurting like hell. No... Only his muscles were hurting. For whatever reason, the crystal only gave him the experience of training his muscles with the practice swings. He had an idea why that happened... It was because he imagined himself training to swing his sword with all his might for weeks. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"I suppose this isn’t half bad... Considering that I only used five million mana points," Luke thought.

Luke had planned to store a lot more memories, but the crystal size determined how many memories it could be stored there. The measure was also determined by the amount of mana... In any case, it didn’t seem much different than using a skill book, but it was a lot more rough. In any case, Luke had plenty of memories of him fighting with monsters, so making some of those turns into crystals shouldn’t be a problem. Still, Luke was quite certain that it would decrease how many memories the crystal would store, and he wouldn’t gain the coins for that.

You obtained 100.000 status points.

When Luke made one filled with the memories of his fighting trolls, that was what he got... He also used a five million mana points crystal. So the rate was Luke one point of experience per fifty of mana. That wasn’t so bad, considering his own mana recovery rate. It was almost insignificant if he put his shadow clones to work.

"I suppose I can also use this to train new skills when I buy them," Luke thought. "I decided to avoid learning cheap skills that wouldn’t fit my fighting style, even if they will grant me status points, but maybe I shouldn’t do that anymore."

Luke would feel that he was making more progress if he learned how to obtain gold coins and then eventually learned how to transmute items into potions that would increase his parameters. Still, he had no idea how to do that even after quite a while. Not a single theory came to mind...

"If I remember well, Shalia eventually learned how to get more mana from the corpses when their energy began to spread across the world... Can I do something similar to help with that?" Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Most likely not... It was a natural-born talent that Shalia had. Not to mention, the mana around Luke was different from the mana she could feel on the battlefields. Still, Luke thought about it while he was creating the experience crystals. Perhaps he should just use Beastly Summoning and transmute his monsters into items. Unfortunately, that idea quickly faded away from his mind as well. It was one of the few redeeming qualities that he had... Luke couldn’t betray his allies, even if they were summoned and made by mana. Using them for his own goals wasn’t something that he was willing to do if that would lead them to be sacrificed like tools.

"I suppose this much is fine for the time being," Luke thought and then returned to the real world.

Although Luke didn’t find the solution to his money problems, at least he cleared his mind enough to stop holding back a little bit. He held a projected copy of his sword tightly and then pointed it toward the wall in front of him. In the next moment, he used weapon Augmentation level five, and then he began to spin while moving forward. The walls reinforced with mana were unable to stop Luke, and so he charged like that for hundreds of meters. He wasn’t using that skill to win some fights but to damage the zone and to annoy the enemy. So, if anything, both sides were getting annoyed equally.

Reinis didn’t even manage to land a single scratch on the walls, and yet, Luke could open holes in many layers of the walls. Again, Reinis felt that Luke wasn’t that strong, but he couldn’t help but shiver when he thought that he almost enraged Luke with his tactics.

They kept moving like that, and Luke waited, thinking that the creator of the tower would intervene since he was destroying their creation, but nothing happened. Still, eventually Luke began to feel that the atmosphere ahead was a bit weird. He looked at Reinis, and then he nodded before he used his invisibility. Luke began to cut down the walls slowly like before instead of using Weapon Augmentation and projected copies of his sword. Eventually, Luke cut a wall, and then he found a large hall in front of him...

That room was even bigger than the one Luke found when he defeated that creature made of sand. Since everything was made of that silver-like material, Luke got dizzy trying to look toward the other side since it was so far away. Regardless, it was without a doubt a room made for overlords to fight each other while going all out.

In any case, Luke couldn’t feel any presence... it was hard to say if it was due to the fucking metal, his own talent for that kind of thing, which was shit, or perhaps the enemies were too good at that. Regardless, Luke began to move toward the center of the room since he was pretty sure that he was bound to find something there. It was hard to say for how many hours he walked in that Labrinth until he decided to destroy everything, but he was pretty sure that the length of that things easily reached the one hundred mark. It seemed just like another feature to make the overlords waste time since they couldn’t fight properly there.

After half an hour, Luke finally managed to see some sort of pillar ahead. At the top of it, he also managed to see a crystal glowing. Apparently, it was working, so he couldn’t understand why he felt like some overlords stayed behind to ambush him. Perhaps not him exactly, but anyone who shows up after them. Still, after thinking for a while, Luke realized there such a place was probably the best that he had seen so far to lay traps and ambush others. Perhaps they didn’t have confidence that they couldn’t reach the top of the tower for whatever reason and decided to stay behind and use that chance to get stronger. That was quite surprising since there wasn’t anything around to eat, so who knows for how long they would last.

Luke wondered if he should use all his mana to increase his speed and then touch the crystal, but that would leave Reinis vulnerable. Besides, it was better to deal with those troublesome guys as soon as possible. Once again, Luke decided to think that those who decide to rely on ambushes when they had other advantages weren’t worth taking seriously.

Still, Luke found himself in trouble when he approached the crystal, and then suddenly, several light spears emerged around the area. As if they were trying to create a cage, they began to connect with each other through many light bars. At the same time, Luke felt that his mana was getting weird and before he could understand what was going on, someone jumped inside the cage at the last second. It was a tall, hairy man who had red eyes and bat wings on his back. Not only was he also pretty muscular, but he also had some claws leaving his fists. Luke tried to use Appraisal, but the skill failed. Luke also tried to summon his sword from his dimension, but the spell didn’t obey him. It was still active... But it wasn’t following Luke’s will.

"What the hell... An anti magic field?" Luke thought.

"I thought you were hiding your powers somehow since you are a lot weaker than the other overlords... But it doesn’t seem like that was the case," the bat man said. "Your powers must be the type that works better in certain conditions."

The weirdo began to spout some nonsense like he was analyzing Luke’s abilities. He sure looked composed despite his appearance. Luke thought that someone like that would be wild like a beast... Still, he probably wasn’t alone. Despite his appearances, the bat guy was the cautious type, even though Luke also could feel quite a lot of strength coming from him. Regardless defeating those guys will be convenient for Luke since he will learn another strategy against mages.

"Let’s end this as fast as possible, all right," Luke said while stretching his arms. "I have places to be, things to do and assholes to beat. So, don’t feel too bad if your little plan doesn’t work as you had intended."

"Such big words for someone who behaves like yourself, someone who doesn’t have a shred of confidence and pride in your skills," the bat man said. "You walk like a little defeated animal who only can try to make yourself look bigger to scare your adversaries while showing that angry face of yours."

"Are you a psychiatrist or something?" Luke asked. "It is quite the weird hobby that you have to observe others and judge them based on your own values. The values of a coward who hides in fear and prepare traps alongside your friends. Don’t worry, even someone like you has your use. I am also a merciful person, so I will give you the chance to bend the knee and beg for your and your friends’ lives."

The bat man suddenly charged toward Luke and slashed his claws. His speed was white, something since he wasn’t using mana. He even made a high-pitched sound while moving. Luke was a lot slower, but he still took a single step backward and dodged the attack. However, he also felt the blast of the attack scratching his armor a bit. Even dodging the attack completely won’t do it...

Regardless, it has been a while since Luke fought someone without using any traces of magic. Despite that, instead of being nervous, he felt excited. While fighting without a weapon was a bit of trouble, he also could feel his fists cracking the bones of his opponents, and there were few things as relaxing as that. So, Luke activated Rage and Berserker. Even without mana, his body began to emit a dangerous Aura that made the enemy hesitate for a moment...
