Chapter 382: Payback (7)

When the enemy charged again, Luke pointed his sword to the face of the homunculus and then used a Spark Ball. He only did it at the last moment, so the enemy didn’t have the chance to react, and the spell paralyzed them. Thanks to that, Luke’s sword touched the head of the monster, but he still felt a lot of resistance, and he only drained a small amount of mana. Actually, he drained the maximum that his sword could drain in a single strike, but Luke thought that it would be more effective since the creature resembled his mana clones quite a bit...

Before Luke could pull back his sword and then attack again, the homunculus swung its sword horizontally to separate Luke’s upper and lower half. Luke used a shadow clone that emerged from his shadow to stop the attack, but in the next moment, the homunculus did the same thing when he was moving away, but he used the shadow to attack.

"... So fucking annoying..." Luke said and then stopped the shadow’s attack with his sword.

Luke frowned when he blocked the attack, there wasn’t much power behind the charge of the shadow... Before he could understand that, the homunculus tried to stab Luke’s head, and then he used Spark Ball in the middle of the advance. The homunculus was copying him exactly... the same patterns and even the power behind his attacks. He could use that because Luke would be more or less one step ahead of the enemy.

The homunculus charged again after using all of the available, but then the creature changed that and focused on speed at the last moment, which gave it a boost that increased the power tremendously behind its strike. Once again, Luke blocked the strike, but he was pushed backward for dozens of meters. Before Luke could stop, the enemy also fired multiple Spark Balls. The monster’s accuracy was fearsome, so Luke was forced to use his sword and drain them, but even so, their power was too high, so Luke got paralyzed several times. That gave a chance for the homunculus to charge again and almost stab his right eye.

"You little..." Luke muttered.

It was annoying... The fear of having his own techniques and combos being used against him. That was why Luke was holding back on the use of his skills. He had the upper hand, the enemy won’t use his skills against him unless he used them first, but that also put some weight on his mind. If he misses or doesn’t defeat the enemy, then he will be in deep waters. That wasn’t like Luke... To fear something that might happen. The fact that he had never faced an enemy like that probably put some strain on his mind.

In any case, Luke used Sonic Blade in a sequence and made the homunculus move away. When the creature was about the same, Luke just charged in a straight line as fast as he could. The sonic Blades began to cut his body, but Luke ignored the pain and didn’t stop. After using his buffs, then Stinger, Heavy Strike, and then Stunning Blow, the homunculus was pushed backward and then fell while rolling on the ground. When the creature got up, it was hit by a fully powered Lightning that stopped its body completely.

Before the homunculus could recover, Luke grabbed a concentrated mana potion and drank it. At the same time, he summoned a Projection of the frozen world katana and then impaled the homunculus from head to the middle of its torso. The creature began to freeze until it stopped moving... However, Luke didn’t use enough mana to kill it. Little by little, the ice began to melt and break, but then Luke used his mana to stop that. Still, even with his current recovery, it wasn’t enough. Without any other choice, he summoned the creature to his dimension and then gained extra mana thanks to his shadows.

"What an annoying monster... And it seemed this is like a minion type since we found five of those as soon as we appeared," Luke said. "Nevertheless, Let’s check the memories of these things."

If Luke could use Appraisal, then the monster certainly had memories. However, Luke frowned when he saw a single window of memories from the monster, and it was one that didn’t even have fifteen minutes of duration. The monster was born from the ground. As soon as they felt the presence of those five, they began to move toward Luke’s group.

"It seems like they are part of a defense system that responds automatically to visitors..." Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "This might be bad... This thing can be easily produced in this world."

In any case, Luke wondered why he didn’t find any signs of battles, given how powerful the homunculus could be. Nevertheless, Luke decided to check what he could accomplish by using the Essence Sword on that thing. Much to his surprise, the creature lasted for exactly five minutes... Apparently, the link between them and whatever fed them with mana had been cut when Luke transported the monster to his dimension.

"I suppose this much is enough... The battle wasn’t that hard," Luke thought.

Putting that aside, Luke had to prepare for the possibility of him dealing with numerous monsters like that. Fortunately, he knew what he had to do in order to kill them as fast as possible... Luke created projections of the Frozen World katana and then charged them with mana before throwing them into his dimension. Once he made ten of those, he left and then went to look for his subordinates. He soon began to feel the ground trembling, so it seemed that they were busy. However, before Luke could go and give them a hand, he felt the approach of more homunculus...
