Chapter 388: Goal (3)

Luke knew what Aivern was talking about, but he had no idea what his main skill was. He always thought that his power to obtain the experience of his former selves would be his power, but that wasn’t a skill recognized by the system.

"Your main skill is... Clairvoyance," Luke said after thinking for a short while. "At some point, after gaining many experiences, the skill grants you the power to look into the past... The far past of your other lives."

"That is just the first evolution that my skill obtained," Aivern said. "After obtaining the power to look into the past, what do you think will come next?"

That was a troublesome question... Because the answer was pretty obvious. That wasn’t something that he had considered, but if Aivern had the power to look into the future and considering his current strength, could he even be defeated? Also, if he had that power, how come he never managed to prevent the universe’s destruction?

"The answer is simple, I can be defeated, but not for the likes of you," Aivern said. "Even if one can see the future, if they don’t have the means to change the future, then that power is useless."

"I see... So, once I defeat you, I will face an opponent of that level, right?" Luke asked.

"You won’t," Aivern replied. "The future is always changing, but I already saw all the possible outcomes of this battle. You don’t stand any chance."

"That is quite the defeatist mindset... No wonder you failed so many times," Luke said. "No wonder you tried to make people do your work and even looked for some that could kill you."

The expression on Aivern’s face changed, and he got angry like never before. He probably had seen that happening with his Clairvoyance, but still seeing, in reality, annoyed him a lot more. Regardless, Luke knew that it wasn’t a lie that skill, since Aivern saw a future where Luke asked his questions. Regardless, that didn’t matter... As if Luke could accept that his defeat was determined. He charged and prepared to swing his sword, and even though his movements happened near-instantly, Aivern moved at the same time and dodged while preparing his counterattack. Luke used Checkpoint to dodge the attack, but when he returned, both of his arms fell to the ground, they still ended up being cut, and he didn’t even feel the attack coming.

"What do you think? The combination of Clairvoyance to see the future and the power of time magic to send the attack to a determined points in time?" Aivern asked.

"It is impressive..." Luke said and then attached his arms with Telekinesis. "It is even more impressive the fact that you still failed numerous times with this crazy combination of powers. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?"

"You lack in everything, that is why this is the first time you managed to come this far, and yet... You never lacked the size of your big mouth," Aivern said.

"That is one of the few bad qualities that I had that I still value," Luke said and then shrugged. "In any case, you shouldn’t show me that skill too often, you might regret it..."

Aivern knew that it was a bluff. Luke was probably scared shitless, so he decided to rely on some mental games. Naturally, Aivern wouldn’t let that stop him... Luke decided to increase his endurance as much as possible, and he summoned two Crystal to help him with that. However, as soon as he moved his hands, they were cut off. When he tried to move away a bit, his legs were also cut off.

"It is truly a nasty combination..." Luke said while furrowing his eyebrows.

Not even the shadows that Luke had summoned to increase his defenses were helping... They were being eliminated in droves, and his limbs still were being cut. Luke didn’t want to rely on that so soon, but he didn’t have any other choice. In any case, he knew that all skills had a weakness, even the enhanced Clairvoyance. That skill could only grant the user the chance to see their target. They couldn’t see or find something that they weren’t aware of. With that in mind, he freed some creatures that he had summoned while he was training on the first floor of the tower...

Aivern didn’t know what had happened, but he could feel that something had changed with Luke. His aura grew calmer as if his mana pool had suddenly increased by large amounts. He used Clairvoyance to see if something had changed in the future, and he confirmed that... Luke was putting more of a fight, but Aivern couldn’t tell how or why aside from the increase in his mana.

After a lot of tests, Luke found the best creatures that he could summon and offered him literal magic support. They were liches... since he summoned them at the lowest level, he had the chance to train ten of them and make their parameters grow the way he wanted. The only problem was the fact that they were too weak to do anything else. Regardless, they were summoned when they were already meditating, and since Luke used Magic Link on them, they would give him even more mana over time.

"Now, let’s see what you can do," Luke said after he enhanced his endurance and Resistance tremendously and made Aivern from.

Aivern began to attack again, but his attacks only cut a few centimeters of Luke’s body this time. He still could chop off his limbs if he focused on a single spot, but it was clear that Luke would just reinforce that area.

Regardless, Luke charged toward Aivern and then used Stinger. The skill made him cross five kilometers instantly, but Aivern easily dodged it. The ability to see the future truly was troublesome... in any case, Luke used Time Manipulation and attacked again, making the strikes land a little later but all in the same spot on Aivern’s neck. However, he also used Clairvoyance to prevent that... He just made his elemental armor thicker in that area to stop the damage.

"That is why I dislike magic... Call me old fashioned, but I really like an old contest of brute strength and guts," Luke thought.

Luke trained a lot to be able to use the same skills that he imagined that Aivern would use, but in the end, he couldn’t do as well as him. His forte still was fighting without relying on that... That being said, he still had other options. While smiling, Luke projected some knives, and then he used Time Manipulation. He did the same thing several times until Airvern sighed... He had seen that with his Clairvoyance, but he was unable to dodge them when they appeared since Luke made dozens of copies appear around him. That was what he was talking about when he mentioned attacks that couldn’t be dodged. Regardless, Aivern increased the output of his armor, but the projectiles still exploded as if Luke had used Weapon Augmentation.

Luke knew that wouldn’t be enough to cause real damage, but he did it anyway. He wanted to show that Aivern wasn’t as strong as he acted like he was. When the explosions ended, Aivern saw himself surrounded by countless shadow clones, and Luke was nowhere to be seen. To summon that many, Aivern knew that Luke used a lot of mana, and thus, the shadows wouldn’t resist much. As for Luke’s location, he probably was in his dimension. It was the only place that he couldn’t be found since it wasn’t bound by space and time. It was a dimension in which only the mana allowed by the user could enter and leave.

Still, something was off. Luke was supposed to come up with an answer for his problems nearly instantly in that place, so there was no point for him in using the shadows as a diversion to buy time. In the end, Aivern instantly destroyed all the shadows... But then, instead of disappearing, they began to move to a single spot. After a while, one of the shadows turned into Luke, and he looked a bit weird since he was too calm and thoughtful.

"I guess it wouldn’t be that easy," Luke rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Luke wanted to learn the secret of the Clairvoyance that could see the future, but using the basic level alongside Time Manipulation wouldn’t work, he used his shadow to gather some Intel on that, but it didn’t work either. While it was a power that Aivern obtained naturally, Luke believed that it wasn’t impossible to learn... still, if it were easy, someone would have combined it with other skills already. Luke will have to get hit by that a few more times to understand it completely. Luke made another armor made of shadows to cover him since that would help him with that tactic. Aivern couldn’t help but frown since he knew what Luke was plotting. Still, there wasn’t much he could do to prevent that, nor did he imagine that someone could learn how to evolve Clairvoyance that easily.

"That still annoys me... it is better to finish this off quickly since it is a waste of time," Aivern thought.

Aivern opened his arms, and then Luke felt the mana gathering around, he could only see a single sphere of light being formed, but he could feel four... that was because the others were a mass of concentrated energy that turned into darkness, time and space. Hence, they couldn’t be seen, only felt. Aivern was finally showing his big guns. Still, that made Luke sweat a little cold...

It didn’t take long before he felt those four masses of energy disappear... or rather, Aivern combined all of them to launch a single attack. Luke almost shouted how unfair combining those was, but he didn’t have the time nor the will to do it. For the first time in that fight, he considered the idea of escaping to his dimension instead of letting that attack hit him...

Before long, Luke felt something smashing him into pieces while it pushed him downward. He had made sure to enhance his Resistance to the limits, but he also felt like it had been useless. Against those four spheres of energy, he was unable to do anything and just was pushed downward like a piece of rag. The attack and Luke’s body quickly reached the fifth world and destroyed it, making the entire space distort as if it was a game full of bugs. Eventually, it even reached the fourth layer, which was a bit more sturdy. Even so, after crossing dozens of layers of the labyrinth, it didn’t stop and eventually reached the third world’s scorched land. Luke finally stopped there... But only his head and the tip of his limbs.

That seemed like a scene from a horror movie. Still, Aivern couldn’t help but be impressed since his attack was enough to destroy three worlds, and in the end, Luke didn’t die. He looked dead, and it was hard to imagine him doing anything in that state, but Aivern didn’t get any notifications. Aivern decided to finish him off, but then he felt Luke’s mana pulsing like a heartbeat, and then his body began to move... Back to the top of the tower while it was repairing itself.
