Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 387: Goal (2)
"Use your damn gravity now!" Luke shouted as he was crossing the mantle of the fifth world using Airvern’s head like a stone crusher and piercing hundreds of meters of ground per second.
Luke was also suffering damage due to Aivern’s magic armor, but he decided to ignore that in order to cause even more damage to the enemy. Still, it was quite unpleasant to have his muscles being burned by the magic aura faster than they could regenerate. Luke couldn’t focus on anything else either, or he would give a chance for Aivern’s to escape. Still, it didn’t take long for Aivern to figure out a way to escape... he opened a space distortion in front of them and made their return to the sixth layer of the tower. Soon after, he used gravity and made the direction of the fall change. In the end, Luke got his back almost smashed against the ground.
After that, Luke felt his back being pierced by something multiple times. Eventually, even his spine was damaged, and he began to lose strength in his grip. Aivern used that chance to escape, but then he turned around and attacked Luke’s head with a vicious look in his eyes.
He began to move his arms while emanating even more mana than before, to the point that even though they were invisible, they began to leave a path showing their movements. Those paths quickly emerged together, creating a dark mass that quickly destroyed most of Luke’s torso down to an atomic level because they worked like small dark holes that pulled everything inside and destroyed it.
Before Aivern could destroy his whole body, Luke used Telekinesis to move his body and headbutted him. The mana around the enemy’s body quickly dispersed since he got dizzy from the attack. Still, Luke also felt his forehead swelling. Regardless, that gave Luke enough time to use a potion, and his body began to get repaired insanely fast.
"Ah... Headbutts never disappoint," Luke thought while he was moving away and healing. "Putting that aside, as expected... Even though I improved all my skills to the limits, taking him down won’t be easy."
In the end, it was clear that Aivern still had a lot more experience than Luke. Still, he thought that using the crystals loaded with mana would be enough to make them stand on the same level, but it wasn’t.
When Luke’s body was back to normal, Aivern also had recovered. He probably got brain damage, but he could even recover from that. Regardless, Luke had yet to land an attack that would cause more than a few wounds on the enemy’s body. Even with his current level and the mana of five mana clones... He failed in achieving that.
"You have proven yourself to be a worthy challenger, since my first life, I haven’t faced so many problems," Aivern declared.
"Aww, you are making me blush," Luke said. "Be careful not to fall from your high horse."
Although he said that, Luke was clear that he was the weaker one there. Still, fighting enemies much stronger than him and defeating them had become a daily routine for him at this point. Aivern began to move his arms, and then he saw Luke being covered by shadows. It didn’t seem like he was using darkness magic, so it was hard to imagine what he was planning to accomplish with that. Regardless, he began to attack Luke with his slashes that landed instantly, but he didn’t see anything happening to him... he wasn’t even being pushed backward.
Before Aivern could understand what was going on, Luke raised his sword to the sky, and then the atmosphere changed... Aivern knew what was going to happen, but he didn’t expect that the current Luke would resort to that. Aivern tried to move away, but then the first sword landed on him instantly. He had raised his defense to mitigate the damage, but that only worked against him because once the first attack landed...
Countless swords began to fall and hit Aivern. He stood his ground, but he began to lose his footing as the ground began to crack below him. Once that happened, he was pushed down in the blink of an eye to the fifth world. He created a fissure in space above him, but the swords just avoided that without losing any speed. In the end, he was hit again and again, and he began to pierce the mantle of the fifth world even deeper than before. Fortunately, Luke’s mana had a limit, and he reached that. Although a bit tired, Luke smirked when he saw Aivern bleeding when he returned. Even though he was healing them pretty fast with his time magic, the wounds were piling up.
"I thought you wouldn’t use Weapon Augmentation anymore..." Aivern said.
"I didn’t, that was me using the level ten of that skill without activating," Luke said. "At some point while I was training, I thought: wouldn’t it be fine if I just learn the skill? It wasn’t hard once you see them once, but the cost is quite troublesome. Do you want to see how much of that you can endure?"
Luke showed many crystals filled with mana that would help him fire that skill for a lot longer, but it didn’t look like he wanted that. He just used a Meteor Sword to annoy Aivern.
"Do you know the secret of your Weapon Augmentation?" Aivern asked.
"Are you trying to buy time? That is pretty lame," Luke said.
"... Why does your skill has different effects and actions for each level and for different types of weapons?" Aivern asked after frowning. "Have you ever wondered about that? That is because that skill is the embodiment of your spirit, it adapts to most situations and then it evolves after dealing with them. As such, with each reset, that skill became a lot stronger and evolved. Even though you had to start almost from zero with each reset, that skill didn’t."
"... What are you trying to say?" Luke asked.
"What I mean is... you aren’t the only one who carried over such effects to your main skill," Aivern replied and then smirked.
