Chapter 114: The kings

The guests have arrived Your Majesty," a knight reported. Griffin, who was drinking wine in his chambers suddenly grew surprised. How could he have forgotten this? Today was the day they were going to meet with the kings, lords and Ladies. Seems the ’Alexander’ thing had a great impact on him.

And it was true it hard. He had been spending all of his time drinking wine while pondering on how Alexander and the one could be related but it seemed impossible to him.

’Damn with the whole thing!’ He cursed. He was just seated here thinking about someone who might be scheming of how to kill him instead of doing the same. Who knew what was happening in Valoria. His sources and spies had not delivered any useful information to him lately. Though he was supposed to be relieved, his fear worsened instead.

"I’ll be there in a jiffy. Inform the maids to serve them some refreshments. They must be tired after the long journeys." And turning to a maid,"prepare a bath for me."

The maid curtsied and left to execute the order and so did the knight. Griffin slid into a bath robe. The warm water soothed his tired muscles but he had no luxury in savoring the moment. He didn’t want to keep his guests waiting.

After taking the bath, he slid into a pair of black pants and a white fur coat that accentuated well with his aura. He combed his hair perfectly to one side and looked himself at the mirror.

"Looking good," he complimented himself. "Let’s go and face those guests."

He stepped out of his room where two knights were waiting for him.

"The guests are waiting for you your Majesty," one of them informed.

"And here I am," Griffin answered, clearly irritated by the Knight’s statement.

"Should I call the princess to join you?" He asked again irritating Griffin to the core.

"And when did you get the permission to question me?" He asked turning to face the knight. He could see him swallow at that.

"Boy, you better keep quiet or I’ll have your blood painting this hallway," he added making the knight swallow hard.

He was already fed up and this guy was only acting to make him angry. If he was in the mood, he would have his head fed to the dogs.

What was even the point of calling Isadora to the meeting. She was not the Queen or something. And though she was required to welcome guests as a princess, Griffin made sure he left her out of this. He didn’t even tell her he would be having guests this afternoon.

The journey from his chambers to the throne hall was short and within a spun of minutes, Griffin had arrived.

"Welcome Your Majesties, Lords and Ladies," he said walking closer to the table, arms wide. "I hope you had a safe journey and was received in the most hospitable manner. Welcome to my aboard." He took a seat specially designated for him at the table. Maids streamed in the room carrying jugs of wine before Griffin gestured them to serve the kings. A total of seven people had attended the meeting, among tbem a lady.

She caught Griffin’s attention immediately. She was the only woman on the table, and as far as he could remember, there was no kingdom ruled by a woman, unless the rules changed. Or maybe she was a princess representing a king. But wasn’t that the work of Princes.

"I was looking forward to meeting with you your Majesty," a familiar voice said. Griffin shifted his gaze to the guy. Who could fail to recognize this guy?

"King Edward! I’m happy that you made it. It’s a pleasure having you in my aboard," Griffin said with exhilaration, and it was genuine. King Edward was the leader if the witches. It would be an honor to have the witches by his side.

"The pleasure is mutual Your Majesty," Edward said, equally feeling honored. "I can assure you that Drumon will support you," he added, surprising Griffin even more. But he was quick to hide his expression. He was a king after all. But it felt so good to have one strong ally already by his side.

His gaze shifted back to the woman but he had still not made her face out. She was all clad in white; white dress, white hat and white hand gloves. The hat she wore was masking the most part of her face making it difficult for Griffin to see her. He could only spot her pink lips and behind that hat, he could tell there was a beautiful woman.

"I presume you all know why I called you here, and thank for showing up Your Majesties, Lords and Ladies " Griffin began.

"I call upon each and everyone of you to provide Crescia with military support once Valoria fails to keep their end of the demands."

"Valoria will be providing their decision tomorrow if I am not wrong," Edward chimed in.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Griffin replied, sending a smile towards Edward.

"You can count on us Your Majesty," another king, a bald man, probably from the eastern side due to his almost dark complexion, answered.

"We have to follow the rules," another one sided. Griffin smiled knowingly. Everything was going just as planned. All that was left now was for Valoria to deny his demands and he would attack.

"Since when did Crescia start asking for allies, Your Majesty?" A feminine voice sounded across the room, catching the attention of everyone else. Griffin was thrown off by the question. Who was she to even ask...

The thoughts drifted into wind when his gaze landed in her now lifted face, and the moment their eyes met, the world momentarily came to a halt. She was the most beautiful woman Griffin had ever seen. Gods! Was this even real? He had to blink twice to confirm that what he was seeing was indeed true.
