The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness
Chapter 78: Two Killing Intents
Isadora’s gaze darted between the vase and the stalking Alexander. If he took another step forward, she vowed to smash the vase on his head. She looked at his eyes and all she could see was an emotionless Alexander with the intent to kill. Was he really going to kill her? The Alexander she knew would never do that!
Alexander closed his eyes tightly as if he was trying to fight something. He didn’t know why this happened to him suddenly. He had come to learn that his head would hurt whenever he tried to remember something. But why did he behave this way right now? He had never lost his self-control. And this woman, who exactly was she that affected him this much?
Damn! He clenched his fists tightly. He was clearly losing it here. If no one would stop him, he could do something regrettable. His breaths now came out in shallow pants and his eyes turned redder.
"Leave," he finally managed to say. But that now startled Isadora. He was just acting strange a few minutes ago and he was now telling her to leave. She could see how much self-restraint it took for him to just say those words. But why was she hesitant? He tried to harm her and a normal person would have seized this opportunity to run for their dear life. But why would he react this way?
And since the moment she came back to Valoria and encountered Alexander, she felt that something had changed in him. The cold and intimidating aura he exuded was enough to bring someone to their knees. And the way his face looked was nowhere close to the Alexander she had known. And he was now acting strangely as if he had never seen her before. Or was he just pretending? No, she was sure he wouldn’t do that. Why would he? And the way his face looked serious when he said those words meant it all. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Or maybe she had been blind and loved this man while he never loved her in the first place, and he was now pretending to never have known her in the first place? She had been swayed by his looks and advances and forgot what she had come to do here. Yes! Her sole mission was to kill Alexander at any chance available and now was the time. He looked weak and vulnerable in the state he was currently in.
How could she have forgotten that this man’s parents had brutally killed hers, and he, he had his parents, apart from one dead father, he still had his mother. But she, she had grown up without her mother’s love. No one to sing her lullabies when she wanted to sleep. No one to read stories to her when she was alone. No father to kiss her during the evening after he came from work. And he, he had everything. A caring father and a loving mother. He deserved to die.
"I said leave!" He said again clutching his head in agony. It had started to throb in pain again now. But why was she not leaving? He slowly lifted his gaze to stare at those cold hazel eyes. Why was she staring at him that way? She looked like a demoness now. Before he could think further, the pain came again and his crazed look was now back, accompanied by the bloody red eyes.
"I told you to leave earlier but you chose to stay instead. Don’t blame me," he said. When their gazes locked, the cold temperatures in the room intensified, almost shattering the open window. Two people with the intent to kill.
Alexander held Isadora by her neck before he pinned her to the wall. She grimaced in pain as her legs dangled, kicking effortlessly at his legs but he never felt any pain. Her face turned all shades of colors as she tried to free herself from the steel grip. Alexander looked down and his eye color vividly changed back to normal. He was trying hard to control himself. His grip on her neck loosened a bit. Isadora grabbed that chance to take the vessel before she smashed it on his head. He let go of her and held his head in pain. Blood was now trickling down his scalp.
The door flew open at the same time and Gareth walked in. His eyes searched the room when he took notice of a bleeding Alexander and a surprised Isadora. What the hell had just happened here? He could see red marks on Isadora’s face. He hurried to her side his eyes searching for any other injuries on her body.
"He did this to you?" He asked. "Are you alright?" He looked at her in anticipation but she was not looking at him. He followed her line of sight and saw Alexander holding his bleeding head as he stared back at her with what looked like concern. Concern! Did she even hear what he had asked?
"Isadora?" He called her louder this time, slightly shaking her out of her dazed state. She blinked twice as if she had been spellbound when she took notice of Gareth.
"Gareth? What are you doing here?"
"I came to rescue you of course. I will kill Alexander this instant! How dare he lays his filthy hands on you?" Gareth said before his menacing look bored into Alex’s. How he hated this man! He didn’t know why but when Griffin mentioned that Alexander had found a place in Isadora’s heart, he lost all his sanity. Alexander didn’t deserve to have Isadora, and that, he was going to make sure happened even if it meant killing Alexander. He still hadn’t believed that Isadora had fallen for this brat. Maybe he would ask her later. But how comes the lovebirds were having a fight?
"I’m alright Gareth. I can take care of this," Isadora said, trying to regain her composure. "Just take me out of this place."
