Chapter 161: The Prenup

Sienna pulled out a beautiful ivory dress and stared at it in surprise.

The dress was simple yet elegant, and although the slightly lower neckline made her hesitate for a moment, she couldn’t deny how beautiful it looked.

However, after reminding herself that today was a special day, she finally decided to wear it.

A little while later, after fixing her hair and applying a light touch of makeup, she stood in front of the mirror for one final inspection. The woman staring back at her looked nervous, excited, and undeniably happy.

Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to act casually before opening the bedroom door.

When she stepped into the living room, Sienna found Zachary standing beside the dining table, seemingly busy arranging breakfast.

Hearing her footsteps, he turned around.

The moment his eyes landed on her, his movements stopped.

His gaze slowly traveled over her appearance before settling on her face, and the look in his eyes immediately made her heart skip a beat.

"You look beautiful."

The sincerity in his voice made her smile.

"Thank you."

As she approached him, her attention shifted to the food arranged on the dining table.

"You made us breakfast?"

Zachary looked at her as though she had just insulted him.

"No. Of course not. I don’t want a disappointing breakfast, which is a certainty if I cook it." A faint, teasing smile appeared on his lips. "So, I have my chef prepare it for us."

Sienna couldn’t help laughing because that answer sounded far more believable. "That’s what I thought."

Pulling out a chair for her, Zachary waited until she sat down before taking the seat beside her. Then he placed a sunny-side-up egg onto her plate and poured warm milk into her cup.

"Eat first," he said. "Before we leave for City Hall, there are a few important things we need to discuss."

Sienna looked up curiously.

"Important things?"

"Hm." Zachary nodded as he cut into his breakfast. "The prenup agreement and a few legal matters."

His tone sounded completely casual.

Unfortunately, Sienna nearly dropped her fork.

Until that moment, she had been thinking about becoming his wife.

She had been thinking about their future.

About their marriage.

But hearing the word prenup suddenly reminded her of something she had unconsciously pushed aside.

The man sitting beside her wasn’t simply Zachary.

He was Zachary Sterling.

One of the wealthiest and smartest men in the country.

...

Their breakfast passed surprisingly quickly, and before either of them realized it, they had already begun cleaning up together.

Bringing the dirty dishes to the sink and wiping down the dining table felt so natural that neither needed to ask the other what to do. Their movements seemed perfectly synchronized, as though they had been sharing the same kitchen for years rather than having done so only a handful of times.

Sienna stood at the sink washing the plates and cutlery.

At the same time, Zachary dried his hands and loaded everything into the dishwasher.

By the time she finished rinsing the last plate, he had already arranged nearly everything inside.

"This is the last time you’ll do this," he said casually after placing the final cup into the dishwasher.

Sienna paused and turned toward him as she wiped her hands dry with a clean towel.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

A faint smile appeared on Zachary’s face as he leaned against the counter and looked at her. "I mean... my wife will never have to set foot in the kitchen again. These tasks will be handled by professionals."

Sienna immediately rolled her eyes.

"Don’t try to take away my hobby, Mr. Sterling."

His smile widened.

"My wife has a very interesting hobby," he said as he stepped closer to her. Lowering his voice, he added, "It only makes me fall even more in love with her."

Sienna narrowed her eyes at him, although the corners of her lips were already threatening to lift.

"Mr. Sterling, you seriously need to stop saying things like that."

"Why?"

"Because I might get diabetes very soon."

The joke made Zachary laugh.

Instead of arguing, he gently placed a hand on her shoulder and guided her toward the dining table. Sienna allowed herself to be led without resistance, shaking her head at his antics while he pushed her forward with surprising satisfaction.

"Alright," he said after pulling out a chair for her. "We need to talk about the prenup now."

The teasing expression slowly disappeared from his face, replaced by something more serious.

Once Sienna sat down, Zachary walked over to retrieve his briefcase before returning to the table. He settled into the chair beside her and placed the bag on the table.

Still, instead of immediately taking out the documents, he paused to study her expression.

The closer he looked, the easier it became to notice the tension she was trying to hide.

Her shoulders had stiffened.

Her fingers were intertwined tightly in her lap.

Even the smile she had worn moments ago had faded.

"Are you ready?" he asked calmly.

Sienna blinked and looked at him.

It took her several seconds to answer.

"Should I be worried?"

Although her voice sounded calm, the concern in her eyes betrayed her completely.

Zachary immediately noticed it.

A smile appeared on his face as he reached over and lightly tapped the tip of her nose with his finger.

"You should be happy."

"Can you be serious?"

"I am serious."

His amused expression softened as he finally opened the briefcase and removed several sets of documents. He carefully placed them on the table before turning toward her again.

"There’s no need to worry," he said gently. "This prenup is simply meant to protect you."

Instead of feeling reassured, Sienna only became more confused.

Her brows slowly furrowed.

Seeing her expression, Zachary continued explaining.

"I’m a business owner. If something bad ever happens to my company in the future and I go bankrupt, I don’t want you to become entangled by any penalty or financial liabilities arising from it just because you’re my wife."

His voice remained calm and steady throughout the explanation. After speaking, he paused briefly and studied her face, as though trying to understand exactly what she was thinking.

"That’s why I want us to sign this agreement," he continued. "I don’t want you to suffer because of my problems. Please trust me, Sienna. This prenup is designed to protect you. Not to harm you."
