Chapter 31: A Miracle

"It was nothing short of a miracle! Bishop Adreline was sure to die in the next few seconds. Then, the flowers arrived, healing him instantly! Despite what everyone says about the Goddess abandoning us, this cannot be true!"

Bishop Adreline sat on the edge of the raised platform a few hours after his injury and healing.

The temple was still filled with stragglers. Some were doubting the truth of what had happened, whilst others were in complete and utter awe.

Bishop Adreline was of the latter.

In truth, he believed that they had been abandoned by the God of Restoration.

After all, he usually had access to the Third Vein and now had none. He could not even heal a simple wound, which would have once cost him almost nothing at all.

So then how?

Which great being has healed me?

The bishop ran a hand through his silver hair, which was when he was approached by a figure.

"Excuse me, Bishop, do you mind answering a few questions?"

Bishop Adreline looked up.

A man was standing over him. He was dressed in black pants and an open black trench coat, revealing his white shirt beneath it. The man was young, average-looking, and his black hair was slicked back with oil.

"Go ahead," the bishop responded. "I have already answered a hundred of them."

The young man laughed. "Don’t worry, sir. I am sure this is a question you have not been asked yet."

Bishop Adreline raised a brow.

The young man continued. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"Have you ever heard of the God of Information, often referred to as the Clown?"

...

After healing the bishop, Solomon hurried out into the streets, trying to look as least suspicious as possible.

Behind him, he heard the commotion switch to cheers as they witnessed their bishop’s life being saved.

They all questioned: who was it that still possessed the powers of restoration?

He hoped that they would never receive the answer.

...

Afterwards, Solomon made his way to the Milf’s Tavern. Using the powers of restoration had made him hungry, and he wished for a meal.

Inside was more packed than usual, but that didn’t stop the Milf from seeking him out.

As usual, she wore a revealing corset that accentuated the bust of her breasts. As she leaned over his table, they were pushed awfully close to Solomon’s face.

"My favourite customer," the Milf greeted him. "What would you like to eat? Though I must warn you, a lot of the food is off the menu. It’s a busy day, as you can see."

Solomon looked around. There were no seats left empty.

"Why is it so packed?"

"Because of gossip, handsome. People come here to talk, and right now, there’s a lot to talk about. I’ve just heard that restoration magic no longer works. If that remains the case, then..."

Her face lost its smile.

Solomon knew why.

The Kingdom of Olaria and the Valanian Kingdom both relied on the powers of restoration. If they failed, they would become among the weakest of the kingdoms across the four islands.

Solomon knew that this problem was even larger than it seemed. Once the Kingdom of Calvin found out about this information, there was a high chance that they would turn their attention towards the Kingdom of Olaria.

Of course, he kept this information to himself. Only he and the royal family knew about this, after all.

"It is a shame what is going on in the kingdom, but I don’t want to think about that right now. I’ll have whatever is best on your menu," he answered.

The Milf nodded her head before winking at Solomon and grabbing hold of her two breasts seductively.

"If you would like, I can get you a different sort of meal. You would have to come upstairs to one of the rooms to fetch it, though."

Solomon cringed.

Please, granny. When will this end?

The Milf laughed and pushed him playfully on the shoulder.

"Hehe, I’m only joking. You’ve got to joke in these times, otherwise you’ll become depressed... Hey, do you even know my name?"

Solomon wasn’t afraid to shake his head.

"Do you know mine?" he retorted.

"Heh, I guess you are right. My name is Margaret."

"Solomon," he responded.

...

After the two properly acquainted themselves, Margaret left and returned with a plate of food.

Solomon devoured it as he listened to the gossip of the tavern.

Nothing interesting popped up. It seemed that everyone was so fascinated with the death of their neighbouring kingdom’s prince.

However, once he finished his meal, something strange happened.

Solomon felt a feeling amidst his eyeballs. A feeling he had felt before.

His vision became clouded, as a strange shape began to take place right in front of him. It was a cloudy pink door, open wide enough for him to see his pink tent beyond it.

Sitting in the stands of the tent was a figure. He noticed that it was sat in a seat that no other figure had sat in before.

Solomon blinked as he looked around the tavern.

Despite how giant and eye-catching the door was, no one else seemed to be able to see it. It was just like his tent, located at the centre of Redsham City, yet only visible to him and those whom he helped enter.

Can I just enter without being seen?

Trusting in the strange powers of his realm, Solomon did exactly that.

...

Inside his tent, dressed in the clown outfit made from pink clouds, Solomon sat in his seat and gestured towards the figure sat in the stands.

"You may sit with me."

Only after giving permission did the figure rise and make its way over.

This was a good sign that it was most likely a human, and not a god.

Eventually, the figure sat, and Solomon watched carefully as the clouds disappeared from around its body, revealing the person beneath.

Solomon was surprised when he saw their appearance.

It was a woman wearing the fashion of another kingdom.
