The Clown's Harem - Chapter 33: Calvin XXXII

Chapter 33: Calvin XXXII

Have I angered another god?

And it just had to be another one of the Pillars. Calvenus.

Solomon sat with his thoughts for a few moments. He needed to process everything.

He did not know enough about the God of Creation, which meant he would have to vehemently study him so that he might protect himself if necessary.

He also needed power. Lots of it.

The fifth vein of restoration was powerful, but it would not be enough. Juniper’s powers were unreliable. He needed more.

With the Calvinist spies roaming the streets of Redsham, this made having a means to protect himself even more serious.

Solomon sighed.

"Now then, where do I start?"

...

In Saint-Grato, capital city of the Kingdom of Calvin...

The blonde woman returned to her physical body, seated at the centre of the throne room, fuming with anger.

She was surrounded by numerous mages from the Calvin Kingdom, each with access to the third vein of creation or higher.

Sitting on the throne, looming over them all, was King Calvin XXXII. His throne was made from ten different stones and thirty-two different woods; a creative marvel.

"So?" the king’s voice came, cold as ice.

The woman rose to her feet and took a few moments to speak.

There were roughly twenty people in the throne room, waiting. They were all curious to hear about this Clown who might be aiding the Kingdom of Olaria.

"Speak, Svetlana. Do not waste my time."

The blonde woman finally spoke. It was words she did not wish to say.

"The Clown says that you were unwise to make yourself an enemy of him."

Murmurs and chatter spread throughout the throne room immediately. Even the king’s advisers, who stood by his side, couldn’t help but talk.

Meanwhile, the king raised a brow. His cheeks turned slightly red.

"But... but I did not make any enemy of him. I simply wanted to know what he was like."

Svetlana gulped.

"It seems that was enough to anger him, Your Majesty..."

It was a lie.

The truth was, Calvin was very specific about not angering the god. Yes, he felt confident about the God of Creation’s ability to keep him safe, but that did not mean that he wished to go around and make enemies of gods foolishly. Even if he did believe that the God of Information did not have a vein to draw power from.

"I specifically told you to make sure you did not anger him. Did you try everything? Did you tell him the offer that I told you to give him? You must know that even the gods can feel lust, right?"

"..." Svetlana remained silent. Her cheeks blushed.

"You didn’t, did you? You did not tell him that I will give him a hundred women to please him if it means that we can avoid war with him. We need him to abandon the Kingdom of Olaria, not fight with them!"

His rage brought fear to the entire attendance. Despite being only eighteen, King Calvin XXXII was ferocious.

"Your Majesty, I—"

"Throw her in the dungeons," the king responded with a dismissive wave.

"No, please!"

Before she could say anything else, two men seized her by the arms and dragged her out of the throne room.

That left Calvin to rub at his temples in frustration.

His best man, Raphael, leaned over and whispered to him.

"What will you do with her, my king?"

Calvin thought for a few moments. He knew that the woman loved him, but that did not matter. She was the least creative of his women, which was why he was fine with risking her life.

She loved him, but he did not love her.

"I will have her executed by tomorrow."

...

Solomon sat on the top floor of the Library of Alexander, reading a book titled The Life of Calvenus.

For one who wished to learn about a religion, it was always advised to start by reading about their beliefs. However, Solomon chose to study the origin of the god himself and the accounts of his time on Altearth.

He did this because it was important to know your enemies on the deepest levels, not just what their followers do to worship and follow you.

Calvenus, unlike Juniper, was not some sort of royalty during his time on Altearth. Before the Kingdom of Calvin earned its name, it was called the Galdovan Kingdom.

The Galdovan king was a cruel man who executed Calvenus for drawing art of him, depicting him in a manner that the king did not like.

They imprisoned Calvenus and demanded that he burn his painting or be hanged. Calvenus chose the latter.

Angered that Calvenus chose this decision, instead of hanging him, they publicly tortured him.

This led to the greatest civil war known to the Eastern Island’s history. The common man won and established the leader of their revolution as the new ruler.

That man changed his name to Calvin in order to honour Calvenus. He was the first king of the newly established kingdom, the Kingdom of Calvin.

By the end of the book, nighttime had arrived, so Solomon returned to his tent. He would come back the next day to continue with his studies.

...

Before going to sleep, he sat himself down in the chair, dressed in his pink clown suit, and waited for any prayers.

Sunset was always the time when prayers would be offered.

He expected the figure of Lucy Windelle to appear in her space on the stands, but after waiting for a while, he realised it wasn’t going to happen.

I guess she is busy.

He prepared to leave the seat and go to sleep, but before he could, a figure appeared.

Aurora?

No, it was not her. The figure appeared in the same place that he had seen a figure appear in earlier that day.

In other words, the one who had prayed to him was the blonde woman from before.

Solomon sighed greatly. Was their back and forth earlier not enough?

Then he gestured towards the seat opposite him.

"Come, sit with the Clown."
