Chapter 1788: Can’t Mass Produce The Good Stuff

While Rae and Meisje handled their first customers in the clothing shop, Karl was busy getting things set up in the Guild Store.

Deciding what would actually go in the store, and what would be reserved for sales to the warehouse, was not a simple issue. The Clan members could purchase with Clan Credit, but having items that weren’t in the warehouse inventory made for an extra step between the Clan and finding the items they needed.

However, people tended to go to the shop for lower grade items, and custom order higher tier items. Nobody set automatic notices for Epic Grade items because it was so unlikely that they would pop up.

People didn’t usually turn them in, they traded them for items they needed directly.

So, that was what Karl optimized the Guild Store for.

The number of items that they had at Epic Grade or higher was already high, but Karl had plans. If he used [Breath Of The World] and [Randomize] on a bunch of Epic Grade items that he was in the process of completing, he could get a bunch of Peerless Grade items with the sort of unique effects that would bring variety to the store.

At this level, you couldn’t just mass produce good stuff.

Well, you could. And he fully intended to. But you also had to have a few items that were so far out of the ordinary that people would come back just on the off chance that you had managed to find something of equal quality that might suit them.

[Breath of the World] Artifact Grade Crafting Skill. When used during crafting, imbues items with the power of the World Dragon, increasing quality by one grade. When used on magical items or resources, improves quality by one grade.

{Hidden Effect} When used by a World Dragon or World Dragon Avatar, can be used to create sentient items, imbued with System Functionality. If used on a non-sentient or nascent magical beast, this skill will trigger immediate evolution into a sentient form one Rank in potential higher than its base.

He didn’t intend to create sentient items. Not right now, anyhow.

Eventually, he would. But likely only when he was already making a Peerless Grade item. Upgrading it to Unrivalled, with sentience and better stats, would be the sort of masterpiece that would set his reputation in stone across much more than the local region.

And that was something he wanted to happen when he was certain that he had the power to defend his claim.

The first batch of items that were up for upgrading were accessories. He had deliberately made them all different, all with related stats, tailored for different classes, in a way that Karl hoped was subtle, but was almost certainly not.

Though, once he hit them with [Randomize] during the upgrading process, they might be much more interesting.

Karl activated the dual spell on the stack of accessories, and nodded in satisfaction as they all upgraded to the Peerless Grade, drawing an astounding amount of mana from him and the surrounding area.

The disturbance was large enough that it brought the Elders from the Lycan Pack running. They thought that Karl was under attack, and someone had tried to ambush him with an instant kill type skill.

"Oh, you’re... fine?"

"Sorry about that. I forgot to warn everyone about the side effects of large batch processing. It takes more mana than even I can store, and I was preparing a new batch of items for resale.

Come check them out and see how they turned out.

I used [Randomize] on them, so even I don’t know what sorts of stats and effects they might have, other than the base that I wrote into them with Runecrafting."

Elder Blackwoods picked up a ring from the counter and inspected it for a moment. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"This is... different. I mean, it’s powerful, but really?"

Karl examined the ring, and then laughed.

{Ring of the Phoenix} Immortal Rank, Peerless Grade. Increases Spell Damage by 300 Percent. Increases Casting Speed by 30 Percent. Cast a duplicate of every fire spell you use for half the mana cost. No other elements may be used while this ring is worn.

"I know a person who would love that. In fact, I can hear him in my head demanding it already. I guess it’s not for sale."

The Lycans laughed as Karl handed the ring to Hawk, who slid it onto one of his talons, where it equipped on a toe.

[Ah, that is perfect. MORE FIRE!]

That was the only thing that truly mattered to Hawk.

"There are some really good ones in here as well. Like, look at this one. It gives all healing spells a heal over time effect equal to five percent of the amount healed per second for ten seconds. That doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a total of fifty percent more healing, and it will completely offset most poison and corruption effects for ten seconds.

For most of us druids, that’s the biggest reason that we use [Rejuvenation] instead of our other healing spells.

That constant healing is extremely useful."

Karl nodded. "If you’re one of the group’s main healers, go ahead and grab it. We will put it on credit towards your account with the Guild’s Gear fund.

Since we’ve got so many crafters in the Guild, everyone always ends up with the good gear eventually. It’s just a matter of keeping it fair, so everyone gets a share."

The Druid smiled. "Agreed. This might be my turn for quite some time, but it’s totally worth it."

That was enough motivation for the others to help Karl sort out the items that he had randomly upgraded, and within ten minutes, a few more items had been picked, and the others were safely on display in the cabinets, while Karl stocked some potions and other Epic Grade gear around the shop.

It was a familiar feeling, the same setup as the Drodh Guild shop. All that was missing now were the old familiar faces.
