Chapter 1895: Stopping the Crimson Tide (1)

A million monsters from a higher plane charged in a stampede.

Adhara watched the crimson wolves being knocked back by the eruption of moonlight energy. As these beastly monsters scurried back to their legs and recovered, she recalled the countless times she had almost lost her life and was saved by Rex.

She felt inadequate as the Female Alpha for so long, and had worked with sweat and blood to grow stronger.

Inadequate to carry the responsibilities Rex had given her.

Inadequate that she could never be strong enough to be his replacement when he wasn’t around.

But the war earlier had proven she could be strong enough.

Adhara came with the others to this part of the world to take down the rebellion forces of the Scarlet Banes Kingdom. She fought against werewolves. She fought against the bastard son of the Origin. And she fought ancient werewolves.

Despite all odds, she prevailed against all of them.

She earned this strength to fulfill her responsibilities without much help from Rex.

Tonight, she had proven to everyone and most importantly, to herself that she was adequate. More than capable of becoming the Female Alpha. And the trust and gift that Rex had given her earlier, trusting that she could hold her own and survive, is the reward she had been wanting all this time.

But with that approval, she now wanted to no longer hide behind Rex’s strong back.

Adhara inhaled deeply, filling her lungs completely, and closed her eyes.

She marveled at the insurmountable power that is circulating inside of her right now. It was the ability Rex had given him to level the playing field against these Demigods. Every strand of moonlight energy in the area was now responding to her.

It’s incredible how much Rex has, and right now, she feels like she could touch the sky.

Swoosh—!

Adhara floated skyward and flared the aura of the Anti-Werewolf bloodline.

Beneath the silver fog that sealed the sky from the Blood Moon’s glare, she burned like a cold star. Even Demigods shrank beneath that cold gaze, unworthy. Creatures whose only crime was existing where she could see them.

From the information that was drilled into her mind, the Echo of Night Spirits demanded sacrifices.

Normally, the sacrifices must be done after the roar.

But among the horde of crimson wolves, Adhara saw seething steams that only she could see. A silvery hue that danced to get her attention. Her lips curled into a smile. ’Rex is always looking ahead. To think the Demigods he had killed weren’t simply killed because of his rage, but calculation, is unreal.’

Earlier, when Rex tore through space to reach the Mortal Realm, he killed many Demigods with a roar.

And that was not only a statement to the Lunirich Gods, but it was also to fuel this skill.

Adhara willed the silver hues to come.

Each splatter of the slain Demigod’s flesh erupted with a silvery beam, visible to all, shooting skyward like a beacon. They pierced the silver fog, tearing holes in it, and shimmered within its depths, stirring low rumbles that rolled through the heavens like the promise of a downpour.

’What is this...?’ the uncanny werewolf stared at the sky—with an evident frown. ’It must be one of his abilities—the moonlight energy gathered was beyond the scope of what she could control. But how can she use it?’

Urgently, he pointed at Adhara and roared, "Attack her!"

Just a roar from Rex alone had decimated many Demigods like they were nothing.

And the uncanny werewolf doesn’t want to know what this ability would do.

Roar—!

Hundreds of peak ninth-rank realm crimson wolves lunged skyward, bodies squeezed together so that they looked like a crimson tidal wave. One could feel their powers rising by the second as their forms rapidly adjusted to the Mortal Realm’s energy level.

Each one of them was already one of the strongest beings in this realm with their current strength.

But they were still growing stronger.

Blitz—!

Kaboom—!

Out of nowhere, a streak of black lightning pierced through the sky faster than the eye can see.

It intercepted the tide of crimson wolves and burst outward in a web of crackling lightning. Bodies flew in every single direction—tumbling through the air like broken things. A few recovered faster than the rest, only to find their limbs were locked by the electricity still snarling through their veins.

A towering figure made entirely of clouds stood above.

Clang—!

Devo slammed his fists together, creating a thunderous metallic sound.

Countless more crimson wolves tried to tackle him from the sky, but this created a lightning shockwave that dispersed them all before they could reach him. Devo isn’t a pushover. And since he had been with Rex for quite some time, his body had already adjusted.

He was already in full power.

"What are you all doing?!" The uncanny werewolf lowered his hind legs, preparing to launch. "Attack!"

Swoosh—!

Devo dove and collided with the uncanny werewolf destructively—what erupted afterward was utter chaos as the two exchanged a hundred blows in half a minute. Each of their collision generated vicious shockwaves that cracked the space around them like splintering glass.

No matter what, Adhara needs to be stopped, but Devo was persistent.

Despite that, the number wasn’t on their side.

Thousands upon thousands of crimson wolves piled on one another and created a pillar of bodies.

Others climbed these pillars with their bloodlusted eyes fixed on the floating Adhara.

A gleam of moonlight cut through the sky and came to rest behind Adhara. It was Amanir.

He spread his wings wide and ran through the pillars—forcing the crimson wolves to restart before he stopped behind Adhara.

"Done causing Rex trouble in the Spirit Realm?" Adhara asked without looking.

"Devo was the one who caused the trouble, not me," Amanir snorted—unwilling to be grouped up with Devo when he had done nothing wrong. He tilted his head up, staring at the silvery fog, "What are you casting? And how long would it take?"

"It’s a summoning, and I don’t know how long it’s going to take—but we should stall," Adhara looked down and frowned. So many crimson wolves. It’s going to be hard to hold them back. "I can change the nature of the moonlight to suppress them, but they’re not werewolves, so the suppression is weaker. And with their number, holding them even for a minute would be hard."

"Just do it," Amanir grinned. "I can supply you with the moonlight energy needed."

Under the Blood Moon, moonlight energy was elevated to an unnatural height.

But it wasn’t only moonlight energy.

Anything regarding the moon was amplified, and that also includes Lunar Mana.

Amanir flapped his ears, moving backward before stopping a distance away.

He expanded his mana sense, and it stretched for miles upon miles. After having his aptitude upgraded using Emperor Dominar as a sacrifice, he shared the accumulated life energy with Devo. Now, the life energy within him no longer measured in mere thousands of years.

It was comparable, at minimum, to a decamillennium.

Compared to prior to going to the Spirit Realm, he’s at least ten times stronger.

Splash—!

Adhara raised her arms to protect her face from a sudden rush of wind.

Or at least, she thought it was wind, but it’s not.

It was Lunar Mana.

Glancing over her shoulder, Adhara was taken aback to see Amanir turning into a mini moon. Silvery mana swirled around his body, encasing him inside a sphere that was as solid as rock. And slowly, there was a thread the size of an arm reaching out.

It reached for Adhara, and when it touched her back, Adhara’s eyes glowed even brighter.

Almost like she had been lit up from the inside.

An endless stream of energy was pumped into her, and with it, she was confident in suppressing the horde.

From the ground, Princess Selene looked up and saw Adhara glowing brilliantly. Then the air changed. Something prickled across her skin, sharp and wrong. Before she could wonder what Adhara was doing, a sudden force slammed down upon her, pressing her hard from above.

Not only a physical press, but the moonlight energy also shifted. Changed into something else.

Princess Selene reached her nose and saw blood.

"It’s the Anti-Werewolf bloodline..." She mumbled in shock.

As it turns out, Adhara could even alter the nature of the moonlight with her bloodline ability.

Such a feat shocked Princess Selene.

Only a handful of Anti-Werewolves could do that, and none could come close to the scale that Adhara was doing right now. "But it’s not enough," Princess Selene glanced to the side. "Many of them are slipping through the crack."

Adhara served as a good distraction, splitting the horde’s attention.

She created chaos.

Many crimson wolves stumbled—and collided, their paths overlapping but their purposes pulling in different directions. One of the weaknesses of a massive horde became stark because of Adhara—but their number was simply too much.

She’s effective, but it’s not enough.

And that’s where Princess Selene came in.

"I’ll handle them," Princess Selene’s King Mark glowed, and she zoomed straight to the crack. "Sintra! Miriam!" She called out the names without even turning to look. "Follow me!"

Other than to handle the crimson wolves that managed to slip through to the real world, Princess Selene and the two Shamans were werewolves, so they should get as far away as possible from Adhara since she was changing the nature of the moonlight energy in the area.

Princess Selene leaped over the horde and blasted kingly energy from her feet.

She propelled herself out of the pocket dimension.

Jaws snapped at her heels as she carved through the sky, dodging crimson wolves that lunged higher than they had any right to. Had they had intelligence, things would have been incredibly hard. But seems like they were all physical strength.

She twisted away from another set of teeth and crossed her arms over her chest.

Kingly energy surged down her limbs, sheathing her claws in a coat of molten gold.

"Moon Ability, Honey Infestation Splash!"

Princess Selene spread her arms and spun her body, firing droplets of golden goo to the horde.

A hundred droplets were fired until she came to a stop and blasted sideways to avoid falling directly onto the horde. All of the crimson wolves that got struck by the droplets changed. Their eyes turned golden, and they immediately attacked those around them.

"Good, but it doesn’t solve the main problem."

The Honey Infestation Splash only slows down the horde from advancing.

Its main body was still robust and kept galloping ahead.

Nothing would stop the horde—except something placed directly in their path. Princess Selene’s eyes gleamed. She galloped on all fours, limbs eating the ground. She was the Honey Moon Princess. And other than Rex, that glorious outlier with no equal, no royal werewolf alive could match her speed.

She covered miles like it was nothing.

Even though it was a good thing for her, she also came to realize the crimson wolves’ speed.

They are not slow.

And that means the horde would soon reach many settlements along the way and ransack everything.

Just earlier, Princess Selene had brought the elite of the elite to confront the Clarentium Empire.

Now all of them are dead.

Losing more than the kingdom already did would be catastrophic.

’That Demigod commanded them to head straight to the empire’s capital city,’ Princess Selene thought, and stared ahead. ’I don’t know where it is, but I can follow these crimson wolves. This is our territory, so there shouldn’t be any of the empire’s forces left.’

’That means I can only rely on our kingdom’s strength. There are two Alpha Primes’ territories ahead.’

She picked up her pace.

At this point, she has dusted the sonic boom way behind her.

In under one minute, she overtook the horde and continued onward.

Princess Selene has a plan in mind. Pulling it off would be hard—but if she succeeded, then the horde would be slowed down immensely. Just that, she needed helping hands right now.

Aooouuu—!
