The Last Vampire God
Chapter 37: Into The Dark [3]
My vision starts to clear up as I rush towards the first set of black figures in front of me, immediately slashing my sword through them before they can react.
It cuts without any resistance again before the purple blood begins to spill out from them all over. One look back also tells me that Lia is starting to fight against them as well.
She appears to be getting decent attacks in so I won’t worry about her for the time being.
Heartbeats begin to echo loud and clear from the right side of the room, closer towards the entrance we came from. More than likely it has to be the hunters who spoke a little while ago.
CRACK!!!
DASH!!!!!
I push myself off the ground past Amelia where I can finally see two people standing by the entrance. Both wearing full silver armor with their faces covered by the same masks I saw in the memories.
"How did he know where we were?" The man questions with panic in his voice.
"We weren’t suppressing our heartbeats enough!" The woman shouts as she draws her sword.
CLASH!!!!
Our blades meet instantly... Except I can feel hers starting to crack from the pressure I’m giving. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
The man goes to draw a pistol but before he can fully pull it out I break the clash and rush him. I don’t even hesitate to swing my sword upwards, immediately slicing through his hand.
THUD!
His hand hits the floor and within a few moments he falls back while gripping where his hand once was.
"Holy shit!!! This hurts so much!!!! Marie you were supposed to help!!" He shouts while in pain on the ground.
"You should’ve been faster dumbass!" Marie shouts back at him.
She runs towards me and begins to swing her sword relentlessly towards me, but it just makes it easier to dodge. I begin to move swiftly away from her as she swings her sword.
I know there is different tiers when it comes to these hunters so I know they must not be too high up. Their biggest advantage was originally the black figures that were here.
It doesn’t make sense why they didn’t just have them kill me in the beginning. Wasting time like they did was absolutely stupid.
They also mentioned something about Sylas but we never encountered each other before, not officially at least. Could they be thinking of my father... Or maybe even Lukas?
"Marie!!! This isn’t the same one!" The man shouts with fear in his voice.
I use the distraction to dodge one more attack before driving my sword into her chest.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
The silver armor doesn’t seem to be effective against me for some reason. I used to think it was something strong or beneficial that they did... Now I’m not sure.
Her blood is also dripping onto the ground which means she is dealt with.
RIP!!!
I rip my sword out within an instant and she falls onto the ground. Her sword clatters next to her as she lays there with her last moments.
"Finish the other one."
"Yes, finish him!!!!"
"He needs to die!"
"The hunters deserve death."
I don’t have a reason to keep him alive in the first place but I’ll need some knowledge from him. Even if it is just about the vampire they ran into before me.
Sylas has obviously had a run in with one of my family members and they escaped. This is my opportunity to figure out which one made it out alive.
I’ll kill him after if he survives the feeding.
Immediately I appear before him and break his only other hand.
SNAP!
"Gahhhhhh!!!!! Just fucking kill me!!!!!" He screams in pain.
"After I get what I need," I say with a cold tone.
I sink my teeth into his neck violently, drinking his blood within seconds. Everything around me starts to disappear as I find myself within a random tavern.
It looks like the two people here are having a drink while they wait for someone. The tavern is filled with hunters but something is different here.
The door opens up behind me and Sylas walks through, a carefree expression on his face. He doesn’t seem to be worried about anything.
"I’ll cover their drinks," Sylas says with a laid-back tone.
"Woah, you don’t have to do that man," The familiar man replies with a surprised tone.
"Alex this isn’t the time to turn down such a kind gesture," Sylas says as he puts his arm around him.
"Just say thank you," Marie whispers to Alex.
"Thank you Sylas," Alex replies with a genuine tone.
"See that wasn’t hard," Sylas says with a smile.
Sylas definitely doesn’t seem like a guy I want to mess with too much. He’ll definitely mess me up if I’m not careful when I do fight against him.
I can tell from the way he’s acting around the other hunters... Plus the different ribbons on his chest. The man is definitely a higher tier hunter if I have ever seen one.
"What brings you here though Sylas?" Marie asks with some curiosity.
"Needed to stop quick since I lost a vampire," Sylas answers, still keeping his laid-back tone.
"They aren’t upset with you?" Marie questions.
"No because they have faith that I’ll still do my job," Sylas responds.
The man brings more drinks over to them as they continue to talk briefly about stuff not related to the hunters. After a little while I finally hear what I’m waiting for.
"This vampire that got away was pretty fast and he was wearing some fancy clothes. It was definitely one that got away from the manor raid," Sylas says with more of a serious tone.
"How many escaped?" Marie asks with a curious, yet serious tone.
"Three as far as I know. But originally we thought it was just the one. He had long black hair that went past his shoulders with grey tips towards the end of his hair, red eyes obviously, and like I said before... Fancy clothes," Sylas explains.
"Vampires dressing like nobles... How odd," Marie says with a bit of disgust in her voice.
