The Last Vampire God
Chapter 38: Into The Dark [4]
They are definitely talking about Lukas... The description matches him completely, he’s alive after all. I knew he wouldn’t be killed so easily... Only if my mother and sister had that kind of strength.
Damnit.
"The three who might be alive are all fast and probably have quite a bit of strength to them," Sylas speaks with a serious tone.
"Why tell us this?" Alex questions.
"You two seem like you could handle the one I just told you about. He was heading through the Yami Forest last, check the cave," Sylas responds before turning away from them.
I watch as Sylas leaves the two of them behind after responding to Alex. He obviously trusts that they could get it done but didn’t know it was me.
Everything fades away as I find myself crouched down next to Alex. He is definitely dead at this point but I won’t take any chances that he is faking.
I stab my sword through his neck quickly and then pull it out.
His blood spills onto the floor but there is no reaction from the stab so it is safe to assume he is dead now. With that I stand back up and wipe my sword off.
Lukas being alive is a huge deal since he could definitely make a difference in the fight against the hunters. It’ll just be a matter of finding him since he is very good at hiding.
It has always been one of his specialties over the years, something I came to know through games we played.
Even father praised him for it but he probably thinks I am dead. It is a safe assumption with how everything went... Not like I can blame him for assuming that much.
"Those figures all died off," Lia says from behind me.
I turn around to face her and notice Amelia is okay too.
"Probably some sort of magic done by one of the hunters here," I reply while glancing back slightly.
"You took them out pretty quick," Lia says with a surprised tone.
"Low tier hunters aren’t as skilled in combat. They also didn’t anticipate a close quarter fight like I gave them, meaning the magic was their best way to win," I respond with a laid-back tone.
Hunters should be smart when hunting us but these ones didn’t even try to do anything smart. They called out when they should have kept silent during the attack.
The figures should’ve wiped me in the first encounter... That’s why again I think these hunters were stupid.
I should appreciate the stupidity since it won’t be like this when the time comes for me to face Sylas. He is a lot stronger than the other hunters I’ve seen so far.
There is definitely ones stronger than him as well so I really could use the strength from this artifact.
"You need to channel your power."
"Yes, your bloodline is unique."
My bloodline is something I keep hearing about lately. Remi, these damn voices, and even people in the past would praise my family.
I look down at my necklace for a moment.
The dragon that makes me as one of the Nightreign is definitely something I’ll never lose. I need to trust my own power as well if I want to be the strongest I can be.
How this works, I’m not sure. The power has mostly shown itself after feeding off of humans. Specifically something with Amelia’s blood is pushing this power within me.
RUMBLE!!!! RUMBLE!!!!!
The whole room shakes for a few moments before a giant door in the distance opens up. Letting some light pour into the room, telling us where we can go next.
"I guess we picked the right path from the start," Lia says as she stares back at the open door.
"I’d say so," I reply in agreement.
"Then we should get going before something else happens," Amelia chimes in.
"I agree completely. I’d rather not deal with more enemies right now," I say while moving past them.
I lead the way to the door while keeping an eye out for anything that could attack. Nothing really shows up as we all reach the door together; it leads to a long corridor with no end in sight.
We all begin to walk down the hall while keeping our guard up for anything that might attack.
The walls around us all seem to be quite old with some strange drawings carved throughout them. It looks like it tells stories about the ones who came through here ages ago.
I can’t read the language but it definitely mentions something with the artifact because I see the box from earlier.
"I feel like something is off here," Amelia says with concern in her voice.
"The cave isn’t really going to feel like a normal place if I’m being honest Amelia," I reply with a calm tone.
"I just mean that the drawings are quite strange," Amelia says while observing.
"It just talks about the artifact from my understanding," I reply with a little bit of confidence.
At least that’s the idea I get from the pictures they drew. Everything is mostly an educated guess until there is someone who can prove what I’m saying is true.
But honestly I’m more concerned about the girl from before... She is definitely quite strong and I don’t know what will provoke her.
Does taking the artifact do that or is it the intentions of the person who steals the artifact that matters? Questions that don’t have answers.
I’ll need to figure this out when we do reach the artifacts location.
"It is about the artifact, I just don’t know what specifically it is talking about," Lia chimes in.
"At least I know I’m right about that," I say calmly.
"I’m guessing that must be the room," Amelia says while pointing ahead.
A bright red light is coming from a room directly ahead of us, this is definitely the right path to follow.
