The last Vampire with the Hero summoner system: I get 5x their powers - Chapter 86: Quest: Locate potion material [2]
"D class—Sabercry. Subaru take the ones on right, I will left. Lucien take care of the ones in the center." Me and Subaru nodded as we rushed towards our targets.
Using the basic version of trident formation, we quickly subdue our targets.
Subaru flashed right next to the beast with a violent glow of bright light than muttered, "[Venom.]"
The unsheathed white blade oozed a brilliant purple flame and just as the Sabercry, a Siberian tiger the size of a small bear, lunged, the contact with his katana was enough to instantly freeze the Sabercry on it’s spot.
Next moment, it was left seething and wailing in gut wrenching pain as it’s patterned white and black skin began to bleed from everywhere, even the red eye balls had burst with blood.
The Sabercry next to it shivered, but he wouldn’t be an Oni at this level if he could think that much, and so he lunged at Subaru, meeting a less painful outcome of getting his throat cut when Subaru muttered, "[Flash.]"
His blade blurred tens of times faster for a single moment and cut it’s head before it even realised.
So, this was the difference between knowing spells and not knowing spells. But Subaru’s entire face was covered in sweat and his body was shaking.
If he was to face all five of them alone, I doubted he could get out without getting some sorta fatal injury. Even death wasn’t out of expectation.
Alya on the other hand wasn’t as Nonchalant as Subaru, but just as elegant.
Using her superior speed, she blurred behind one of the Sabercry and wrestled it of it’s position. It’s eyes widened and it’s friend attacked Alya instantly.
But just as the second Sabercry’s fangs, as long as an adult’s forearm, came, she pushed her leg and got on the back while the Sabercry in her grip over her.
It let out a loud cry as it’s stomach tore open, flowing organs and blood as the second Sabercry looked dazed and shocked and even a bit guilty.
Alya didn’t waste the chance and instantly stabbed it’s throat three times in less than second. Before the second Sabercry realised what had happen, Alya threw the one over her right at the Second Sabercry’s head.
His head shook as the hundred and fifty kilograms, howling and crying dying Sabercry hit his head. Before he could shake it off, his throat was slit open.
It died gasping for air just like it’s buddy. Alya stood up, wiping the blood from face with a white handkerchief. She wasn’t one bit troubled by the fight. Her grappling skills and battle experience was apparent.
I eyed my target. It wasn’t that Alya assigned me one target out of thinking I was the weakest. It was because my target was the strongest, and looked like the group leader.
Twice the size of the other Sabercrys and it’s fangs oozing a dreading aura, clearly a skill was activated.
I aimed the golden scope of the elemental cannon and instantly, right above my palm began forming a greyish orb that vibrated aggressively.
Before the Sabercry charged, Pow! Pow! Pow!
With sound rivaling a gunshot, I shot the elemental cannon thrice. In three directions, after analyzing where might the Sabercry might dodge.
As expected, it easily dodged the first one, but the moment he moved to right, the other two orbs of energy clashed against each other and then both their angles tilted ever so slightly for them to spread in right and left.
The one that tilted towards right, exploded right on Sabercry’s jaw. The explosion rivaled a few grenades, instantly raising clouds of dust all around the Sabercry.
It didn’t obstruct my vision. I quickly located the rapidly blinking Sabercry, with teary and irritated eyes. That explosion did nothing to him besides pain and vision loss.
Without hesitation, I used [Dash] as I pulled out the long, broad sword from my back and aimed it precisely at it’s skull. His nose vibrated as he sniffed, instantly looking at my body falling from the sky.
He lunged at a speed unnatural for his body and aimed for my chest. I could already predict that, the moment he even got ready for the jump.
With a violent knee strike to it’s drooling, wide opened jaw, shattering two of his four massive fangs, I aimed my elemental gun and shot it twice at point black as it was still recovering from the knee strike.
The explosions all happened inside the Sabercry’s stomach, it’s massive body shivering like a massage pillow, tears escaping it’s eyes.
One would think barrage of explosions equal to ten grenades inside would kill anyone but the Sabercry looked still fine. My eyes twitched as it tried to back away and run, realising how deep the shit he was in.
Like I would let XP and a skill let get away that easy.
With that thought, the sword that was halted mid swing crashed against the Sabercry’s skull.
SWOSHHH!
It’s eyeballs popped first, than his entire skull burst with blood as we hit the ground.
Gaining my footing, I trembled as the Sabercry tried to stand back up. Without hesitation, I used [Dash] with my two long daggers out and stabbed it’s throat.
It’s massive claw scratched my face, causing three lines of bloody arcs to appear before my eyes as a burning pain echoed in my body. Daggers were literally in it’s throat yet it still could manage that.
With a devious grin, I pulled the daggers out, then stabbed, then pulled out, then stabbed, just an inch away from the previous spot, repeating the action for forty times for the Sabercry to finally stop moving.
I panted with heavy breaths as I pushed my body to stand back up, entirety of my face covered with thick and sticky blood, the grin still hadn’t left my face. I looked like a horror movie villain.
Holy shit. Why the hell a D class Oni so sturdy? I felt a newfound respect for Subaru who had cut them like they were made of butter.
[+300 XP]
[High D class: Sabercry eliminated] 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
[Level 3 1480 / 2400 XP]
[+60 Criminal XP]
[Animal Abuse]
[Criminal Lvl 3: 140/1620]
huh? That thing was not an animal! A monster! But, I wasn’t the one to mind free XP. But, animal abuse just didn’t leave good taste.
I’d rather kill a human village than let’s say a golden retriever family if we are being honest. Of course I wouldn’t do that! But, if I was like forced, forced.
"Where did Suge vanish? Can you two sense him?" Subaru’s concerned voice brought me back to reality.
"Nada."
"No."
I and Alya replied at the same time. I’d already scanned every inch in all directions as far as my eyes could see.
"This..." Subaru’s frown deepened. "It could be he left sensing something dangerous— at his maximum speed we would feel like he vanished." He tried to be optimistic.
"I don’t believe so." Alya shook her head.
"Suge wouldn’t leave without a word. He knows we will be concerned." I agreed.
"The other possibility is an Oni powerful enough to suddenly make a Saint class disappear against his will targeted him." Subaru shrugged, rubbing his temple.
My pupils dilated, nothing below high overload should be capable of that... Or...
"Or, a skill that allowed the Oni to do that. Suge did say this was a rather ’peaceful’ area. High level Onis liked to stay at the parts where the Arcana was densest. Only weak ones who cannot fight for their survival would choose to live here." I suggested.
"That’s more likely, we just entered. But, overloads can do whatever they want so it’s not out of question." Subaru nodded.
"Should we retreat?" Alya asked with a tired sigh. Trouble just kept following us.
Subaru shrugged, "I don’t mind, but that would delay your ascension since Suge seemed very busy tomorrow and maybe even more days."
"We could report the incident and travel to eastern lake ourselves?
I mean, it’s not like anything above D-rank is in the path. Suge should be able to sense us and then just meet up with us there." I tapped my foot as I explained, it wasn’t the most strategic option, and more like, I wanted my powers now.
"My vote is with that. But, are you sure, Lucien? What about the chance that an high overload Oni is lurking around after killing Suge." Subaru chuckled bitterly.
"You know, even high level Onis covert vampire cores. Consuming them has a high chance of providing them vampiric abilities. I would be targeted because of my sword as well. At that level, Onis like to hoard high level weapons."
Subaru added, sending chills down our spines. It was very dangerous.
"Then why is your vote with me?" I couldn’t help but ask, my brows furrowed.
"I want you two to get stronger as fast as possible," He replied flatly, "and I don’t mind such risks. It’s thrilling and adds stakes. The mission would be much more enjoyable."
"Right." I forced a smile awkwardly. This guy’s insane.
I turned towards Alya. "Whatever you prefer. I like danger too," was her only response.
