The Nameless Extra: I Proofread This World - Chapter 95: Can Do The Same
[Instructor Airin’s POV]
The training hall had grown quiet after the scholars left.
Moving across the room, Instructor Airin gathered the small items she had brought for the session while a soft whistle drifted from her lips as she worked.
The melody echoed faintly against the tall stone walls of the chamber and mixed with the quiet rustle of her movements.
She went to the machine and retrieved the summoning scroll that had been used for the summoning of the simulated Scarix.
The scroll slid neatly into the metal box alongside several small crystal markers and a bundle of measuring cords.
Airin glanced around the hall to make sure nothing had been left behind. Her whistling continued as she closed the metal box and fastened its small latch with a quiet click.
She lifted it with one hand and carried it toward the exit door.
Reaching the control panel beside the doorway, Airin rested her fingers lightly against the switch that would dim the room.
But suddenly, as she was about to switch the light off, the heavy door behind her opened.
’Hmm?’
A few familiar figures stepped inside.
"Did you guys forget something?"
The figures who stepped inside were her Polaris scholars. Noelle entered first, followed by Griffer, Melia, and Corwin. The four of them slowed after crossing the doorway.
For a while, none of them replied. They glanced at one another as if silently deciding who should explain.
Eventually, Noelle stepped forward.
"Instructor Airin," she began politely. "We were wondering if we could use the chamber for a little longer. Just some extra practice before we head back."
Airin raised her brows slightly in surprise. She had not expected the scholars to return after the session had already ended.
A quiet breath left her as she lowered her hand from the light switch.
"I see," she said, her voice thoughtful.
She looked at them with a small curious look and asked, "But tell me first, why do you want to continue practicing?"
Noelle hesitated for a moment before answering. Her fingers slowly curled together, gathering the courage to speak.
"I also want to improve," she said quietly.
Then, another voice came.
"I want to get better, as well."
Griffer walked next to her.
Behind him, the others gave small nods of agreement. Melia crossed her arms but nodded firmly, while Corwin adjusted his glasses and dipped his head in support.
Noelle drew in a breath and continued.
"We knew that Ruvian had been training privately with you whenever he had the time. He often asked for permission to use the chamber alone."
Her fingers gripping together in front of her chest.
"We also do not want to be left behind. He has been improving a lot."
"So please, allow the four of us to also train for extra time."
She bowed politely.
Melia and Corwin quickly followed her example, though their timing was uneven and slightly awkward.
Griffer, however, remained standing upright for a second longer, clearly a step behind the others. He blinked when he noticed everyone lowering themselves.
"Oi, get down." Melia whispered, reaching out without lifting her head and tugged the back of his shirt.
Griffer finally bent forward in a hurried bow.
Airin watched the entire exchange with a look full of warmth.
She had not expected such a request from them. The academic semester had only just begun, and it was still the second week of January.
Most scholars would spend this early period adjusting to their classes rather than pushing themselves this quickly.
A small smile formed on her face as the thought settled in her mind.
It seemed Ruvian’s effort and steady improvement had not gone unnoticed. His determination had quietly influenced the others more than she had realized.
"I see," Airin said softly.
Then her smile brightened.
"Of course you can. Actually, I have been waiting for you all to ask."
She turned around and began walking back toward the training stage, lifting one hand in a small gesture for them to follow.
"Come on," she said warmly. "Let us begin."

From below the stage, Airin quietly observed her scholars. The wide training chamber had lit up once again. Within that space, the four of them were practicing with clear focus.
Griffer stood near the front of the circle with his spear planted beside him. He calmly gathered mana along the shaft, then released it in short bursts to test his timing.
Not far from him, Melia practiced reinforcing her gauntlets with mana. Then, she drove them forward into the air again and again.
Corwin had taken a quieter corner of the stage. A small cluster of mana spheres floated in front of him as he carefully shaped them one by one.
Meanwhile, Noelle had moved between positions, practicing the control of her [Shadow Phase] spell.
Airin watched them with a calm and thoughtful expression.
Eventually, Noelle stepped out of the training circle. Her breathing had grown heavier, and a thin layer of sweat glistened across her forehead.
She wiped her face with the back of her sleeve before walking toward the stage. Without saying much, she lowered herself onto the step beside Airin.
For a moment she simply sat there, catching her breath while the sounds of the others practicing continued in the background.
The warmth of exertion still clung to her skin, and small strands of her navy hair had come loose around her face.
Then she finally spoke.
"Instructor Airin... thank you for staying and watching us train."
Her voice carried a sincere gratitude as she looked toward the training circle where the others were still practicing.
Airin turned slightly toward her and gave a small, relaxed smile. "It is alright. I have quite a lot of free time either way."
Noelle nodded softly. Her gaze drifted forward again, watching Griffer attempt another strike. After a few seconds she glanced back toward Airin.
"What do you think of Ruvian, Instructor?"
Airin blinked a few times in mild surprise at the sudden question. She had not expected the conversation to shift in that direction.
Still, she did not brush it aside. Instead she rested her elbow lightly on her knee and gave the question some thought.
"Hmm, I think he is a very determined one," Airin said slowly.
"He is diligent and quite observant." Her eyes followed Melia movements across the stage as she continued speaking.
After letting the thought settle, she turned her gaze back to Noelle.
"What about you? What do you think of him, Noelle?"
Noelle looked slightly startled when the question was returned to her. She instinctively reached up and began twisting a small curl of her navy hair around her finger while she thought about her answer.
"I think he is quite smart," she said shyly.
"And yes, of course he is hardworking."
Airin nodded back.
After a while, Noelle spoke again.
"But I think he is very talented too."
Airin paused and glanced at her with a curious look on her face.
"Why do you think so?"
Noelle looked down briefly before explaining her thoughts. "Because he has been improving very fast."
She lifted her eyes again and continued more carefully.
"But I do not mean talented in the way those Class A geniuses are. Because those geniuses, they were already born with everything within their grasp and only need a little effort to reach what they want."
She shook her head gently.
"While Ruvian feels like a different kind of talent. He did not start with anything, but he still managed to learn... quicker."
Airin listened to her explanation, and the thought formed in her mind before she even realized she was speaking.
"Adapting..."
"Adapting?"
She paused and gave a small apologetic smile. "Ah, sorry. What I meant to say is that he is very good at adapting."
Noelle repeated the word quietly as she considered it.
"Good at adapting..."
After a moment Noelle nodded in agreement.
"Yes. That fits him well." she said.
Airin also found herself agreeing with that conclusion.
Over the past weeks she had quietly looked into Ruvian’s background out of simple curiosity. What she discovered had been rather ordinary.
He was only the son of a small carpenter in a southeastern town, with no relatives connected to adventurers or scholars.
His starting point had been almost nothing.
The others had at least some small advantages. Griffer had grown up using a spear while hunting. Noelle had an uncle who worked as an active adventurer and helped support her tuition at the academy.
Compared to them, Ruvian had begun with very little.
Airin looked at Noelle again.
"But Noelle," she said gently, "In the end it still comes down to effort. Even if he is a fast-learmer, it is his dedication and hard work that brought him this far."
Turning her head, Noelle look at her instructor.
Airin gave a small encouraging smile and said:
"That’s why I also think that the four of you...." (+50PP)
