Chapter 85: 158 (3)

With a loud screeching voice, the demon started running towards me.

Running away at full speed, my leg still limped so my full speed wasn’t as fast as I wanted it to be.

I need to look for cover.

Glancing over, Incus was battling a large demonic beasts with arms like the demon chasing after me.

Continuing to run, I was headed for a crowd of people being transferred by knights.

With the help of the knights, we can defeat this demon but their numbers were quickly snuffed out by the arch demoness Deinae’s legion, so their usefulness might be a problem.

A revelation then dawned on me...

One of the kingdom’s commanders! Especially the one with long luxurious hair that commanded the army of elites.

Grimacing, I ran away from the people being evacuated and focused on finding a commander.

There might be one at the camp where commander Cage would always stay at.

Cutting sharp turns as I ran was painful, so I resorted to running in a curved manner.

As I stepped further away, I noticed that the demon’s loud screaming wasn’t as loud anymore and the dragon scales were trembling.

Shit, I’m straying too far from Incus.

Not only does the dragon scale that I sent to blend with Incus’ dragon scales inform me when Incus wakes up but it also lets me know if I’m too far from Incus.

"Scales, compass towards Incus." Floating above my palm, the dragon scales took the form of an arrow.

I paled when it pointed towards the lanky demon.

Fuck.

Assessing the area, a pathway formed in my head.

Running straight at the lanky demon, it retracted it’s arms before shooting it at me. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Jumping to the side, I crashed inside a tent.

Inside the tent, I lifted the drape and ran around the lanky demon.

Haha, what an idiot.

But I suddenly collapsed to the mud.

"Huh..? What the?"

My leg had finally given out, the tendons that connected to my ankle had been torn.

"Damn it, not now!" I broke out a cold sweat, crawling forward with all of my strength.

The crashing of multiple tents collapsing echoed behind me.

Turning around, the lanky demon was retracting its arms.

Extending my hand over my head, I shouted:

"Scales, latch onto something and pull me away!"

Extending to wrap around a tent post, the scales had pulled me away just in time, narrowly dodging being stabbed by it’s sharp arms.

Rolling inside a tent, a young man screamed.

"Ahh! Who are you."

Paying him now mind I focused on catching my breath.

Slamming my fist on my left thigh.

Damn it, why did it have to break now? Just a little longer, I need to be able to stand and look for someone powerful to defeat the demon, and if not then at least the commander of the elite knights.

Hold on, there should be five thousand elite soldiers left and plenty of non elites... so where are they, and on top of that why is Incus ignoring this monster? Is it not challenging enough for her to help her grow just as the draft had written?

Maybe if I find that healer that healed Incus, then I could face this thing alone by myself.

Turning towards the young man who screamed, it was the same person who healed Incus.

"Heal me." I ordered, sitting up straight.

Seeing that he wasn’t budging, I gritted my teeth.

"What are you waiting for, hurry up and heal me!" I shouted in anger.

"I’m all spent on mana, I was busy focusing on healing commander Cage!" The young man pointed behind me.

Turning around, I watched as commander Caged breathed with heavy labor... he was badly injured and his armor had been punctured.

"He tried holding back the spider demon but was overwhelmed... he shouldn’t have commanded his men to abandon him and focus on evacuating the people." The young man gripped his pants, "Anyhow, I can’t heal you sir..."

Scratching my head, I grimaced.

"Scales, act as tendons and move my legs to help me battle." The scales then rearranged itself around my leg, wrapping around my leg even tighter.

Standing up, I stumbled but quickly caught myself.

"W-Where do you think you’re going, hide here! That spider demon is still there!" The young man held me back by the pants but I broke his grip off of me.

"If someone doesn’t kill it then who will." I said coldly.

Stepping outside the tent, I looked around for the demon.

The young man called it the spider demon, which means that it’s arms are actually legs.

Breaking a tent, the lanky—spider demon stood before me.

"Scales, on top of what I’ve ordered... strengthen me." With a surge of strength flowing through me, I lunged at the spider demon.

The potentency of the strengthening had been lessened, likely because I commanded it to aid my leg move.

Slightly lowering my head off to the side, I dodged a piercing attack by one of it’s legs.

Shrouding my blade in mana, I expanded it before quickly compressing it.

"Wind blade."

Dodging multiple piercing attacks, I jumped at the demon’s torso and slashed at it’s side.

The demon wailed in pain as my blade had gotten two forth into it.

"Excali—!" Jumping in the air, my blade broke loose from the demon’s body.

In the air, the spider demon retracted all of its legs and shot them all out.

The legs moved in the air in a jagged pattern.

Running around, I dodged the attacks but one of the legs was headed straight for the tent where commander cage was.

But I’m sure it’ll be fine because just like how the attacks moved out of the way of Queen Evecles when it should have killed her.

However what happened instead was that the leg stabbed right through the tent.

"Damn."

Leaping towards the tent, I was worried for nothing.

The attack had frozen just a little over the tent.
