Chapter 1183: Villagers’ Effort to Kill a Man

A few days later, someone actually came. He came from the sea.

I thought he would be an advanced level mage. But it seems like he’s an expert level mage.

I made the werewolves retreat back to the island while leaving me alone here with the villagers.

"Village Chief, he’s an expert level mage. And from how he got here, it seems like he’s an earth mage. Can you kill him like how you killed other people here?" I asked the Village Chief.

"It might be hard. But I have to do it while fighting as far away as possible from you to not raise suspicion, right? Then it will be harder," the Village Chief said.

"Make it so that you put the sleeping drug on my food as well when you want to kill him. Even back then, it was not effective on me. The master level mages will see that and it will be normal if I don’t leave the house at all," I said.

Soon after, the man entered the village. We acted surprised and started getting friendly to him.

Since he was supposed to be lost and carried by the wave, I treated him. But he was completely healthy so I didn’t need to treat him at all.

The first day he came, he was treated with respect and everyone prepared a feast. There’s always a feast in this small village.

Meanwhile, I noticed that there are two pairs of eyes watching us on the first night already. They are watching us. The two people who arranged this man to come here.

Tonight won’t be the night that the villagers make their move. So after it’s getting late, everyone is already asleep. Including the newcomer and the Village Chief.

And now I make my move. I’m going to where those two people hide to watch the show.

It’s a small hole on the cliff. It’s closed because of the earth magic. But when they’re here, they discreetly created a hole on the cliff to hide themselves.

I don’t know if that will be the place they will hide every time they’re here. But I checked it just in case.

There’s nothing there. Nothing suspicious. So I guess they’re really only here for a visit to watch the villagers kill the newcomer.

The next day, everyone is acting just like usual. While I move from house to house to check the health of the villagers here.

As for the newcomer, he seems bored. Seems like he will do something suspicious soon. It won’t be long when the villagers decided to kill him.

There’s only one master level mage watching tonight. There’s no feast at all today so he should know that the villagers won’t kill him tonight.

The next day, the newcomer started to get angry easily. Because there’s nothing here. And he got assigned to a mission here where there’s nothing to enjoy.

So he started annoying everyone. And the Village Chief told him that there will be another feast tonight. The man calmed down. While the master level mage watching the village is smiling. He knows that the villagers will kill the man tonight. Then he flew back to the city.

While the villagers are working, the words are spread that they’re going to kill the man tonight. While the man himself is unaware.

Then the feast, the two master level mages are watching. They are hiding in the cliff. And with the level of the earth magic one of them used, they can easily move around from one place to another in the cliff. They’re watching us from the closest cliff here.

We lighted the torches and some light mages from the village also used light magic. We tried to make it as festive as possible.

And as the one acting like the weakest person here, I fell asleep quickly. At least I acted like I fell asleep.

The master level mages should have noticed that the villagers put sleeping drug on my food. That’s why they are laughing when they see me sleeping on the table.

"Oh, Doctor Roy is asleep. Someone, bring him to his house!" the Village Chief said.

"Ahaha! So weak! Just a few drinks and he’s asleep! What a weak doctor!" the newcomer said.

He doesn’t know that today is his last day on Earth.

The feast lasted for a while before everyone withdrew back to their houses. Including the newcomer.

As soon as the newcomer enters his bedroom, he fell asleep. Meanwhile, the villagers are awake and being vigilant. And the two master level mages laughed knowing what to expect after this.

After fifteen minutes of no reaction from the newcomer’s house, the villagers make their action.

They surrounded the house. Though they leave some people to guard my house just in case I woke up.

Some villagers then entered the house of the newcomer and I can see that they use magic right away when they see the newcomer.

But for some reason, the newcomer barely dodges it. He was awake after hearing some people enter his bedroom. But he couldn’t avoid the magic and got injured.

Now there’s a battle. An entire village against one man. And two people are watching while drinking alcohol. There are three if I include myself. But I’m pretending to be sleeping and not drinking alcohol.

There’s a loud battle out there and I’m just here sleeping soundly. It was a hard battle but finally, the Village Chief made the finishing move and killed the man.

The two master level mages laughed. Seems like they really don’t care about the man.

Soon after they left. And after looking around with my Divine Vision, I left the house.

"They left. Is there any casualties?"

I know the answer. But I ask just in case.

"No one died. But some are injured," the Village Chief said.

"I see. Perform first aid on them. They won’t die anytime soon. I’ll perform a thorough check on them tomorrow," I said.

And then I opened a portal. A portal to where Candy is. And she’s not alone. Wendy and Sara are there as well with her.

When the villagers decided to kill the man, the master level mage should have known and reported it to the other master level mage. And they came here as expected.

Obviously, we use that chance to have Candy, Wendy, and Sara get as much information as they can in the city they came from.

This is also why I told the villagers to try hard to fight the man as long as possible and don’t kill him easily.

Thanks to that, the three agents had enough time to gather information and group up again before I opened a portal back here.

They entered the portal and come here safely.

"What did you get?" I asked the three girls.

"Not much since it’s at night and we had to do it discreetly. But it seems like there are some rebel group fighting against the cult," Sara explained.

There are some suspicious moves from ordinary people who didn’t believe in the cult’s teachings. But unfortunately, we’re pretty sure that they are already being watched. The people in charge of that city are master level mages. There’s no way they didn’t notice the rebel group.

"Some members of that group must have been spies from the cult. We can’t go there and ask for their cooperation unlike this village," Wendy added.

At least we learned something. Still, it will be easier if I can just kill everyone.

"But what happened here? Seems like it was an intense battle," Sara asked.

"I told them to hold back so they can fight for much longer until you’re done with your mission. Some were injured but no fatal injuries. They can be healed soon. I plan to treat them tomorrow since I should be sleeping right now," I said.

Then I returned the three girls back to the island. There, they will contact Fabio about the information they have gathered.

And the next morning, there’s already someone watching the village from the sky. I woke up and acted surprised seeing parts of the village are destroyed.

"The man before got too drunk and started attacking everyone. We tried to stop him but he’s too strong. We ended up killing him," the Village Chief said. He’s acting according to the script.

"Oh, no! Some of you are injured! Let’s treat them all. Good thing that it seems like there’s no one injured badly. Is there any casualty?" I asked.

"Other than the drunken man, there’s none," the Village Chief said.

"What a shame. He’s a bit annoying but he didn’t deserve to die like that. I think I will not touch alcohol for a while after today," I said.

I lied obviously. He deserved to die. In whatever ways possible. Someone with the cult should just die.

So I started the treatment on every injured villager here. With me here and the Village Chief who is also a healer, it was done easily.

The man watching got bored and left right away. So I placed some werewolves around the cliff again to watch the situation.

Now, what should I do? I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay here for much longer.

Should I destroy a city?
