The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 772 - Nameless Entity
High above, the College Alliance’s chairman stared down at Han Wu and realized that he had made a serious misjudgment. He had heard of Han Wu's strength and knew he was already a World life form before even becoming a God King. He had assumed that the World rank reflected only combat power. He was clearly very wrong. The sheer scale of Han Wu's units pouring into the city proved otherwise. At least half of the God Kings out there probably couldn't match him in that regard. At that rate, Han Wu would take everything.
Luo Yun turned to Xu Hai. “Wisdom God King, I think we should get moving as well. The sooner this is resolved, the sooner the people of the Divine Weapon Civilization can return to peace.”
Xu Hai understood exactly what Luo Yun was thinking, and he was equally shocked. He still remembered their first meeting, when Han Wu couldn't even hold his ground against 1 million units of his Epistian army. Now the situation had completely reversed. Xu Hai doubted that even deploying every unit within his divine realm would be enough to match Han Wu. Yet he felt no envy. Instead, satisfaction and pride filled him.
Xu Hai nodded. “Chairman Luo, let's begin.”
Luo Yun selected a section of the city still in chaos and opened a gate. His core race, the Centaurs, thundered out. Tens of thousands of Centaur warriors cut down the corrupted creatures and collected the Divine Weapons they dropped.
Xu Hai descended as well. As a God King, he possessed Microcosms. Rather than deploying his Epistians directly, he commanded those within his Microcosm to channel their energy through the countless magic towers constructed inside it. In an instant, millions of beams of magical light erupted and swept across entire sections of the city with precision, annihilating corrupted creatures. The Divine Weapons were drawn into his Microcosm as well.
With both of them fighting at full strength, the corrupted creatures fell in massive numbers, and the negative energy’s spread slowed. Still, the true challenge was the nameless entity at the centre of Divine Weapon City. The fused Dark King and Hei Qi had grown 1,000 tentacles, each tipped with a black blade.
Every swing released blade auras capable of killing an Earthsunder life form outright. Even a Heavenrender life form would suffer severe injury from a direct hit.
Against such a foe, Qin Shuang and the others could do little. At best, they could combine their strongest units to sever one tentacle within a short time, which was already a respectable achievement.
The real burden fell on Han Wu, Xu Hai, and Luo Yun.
To deal with the tentacles, Luo Yun donned his full set of God Equipment, summoned 3,000 Heavenrender Centaur Ancestor Spirits, and merged with them. With their combined power, Luo Yun transformed into a 10,000-meter Centaur, fully equipped with God Equipment. His overall strength reached that of a World life form, and each strike severed a tentacle.
Xu Hai chose a different approach. The Great Enlightenment Ring appeared behind him. A single skill, enhanced over 100 times, could destroy one tentacle per attack. In addition, Xu Hai had nurtured a World Epistian Archmage, whose Elemental Ring amplified its elemental attacks to devastating levels. The Archmage could sever a tentacle on its own, but it needed more time.
Luo Yun and Xu Hai’s raw power rendered the five city lords speechless. Then they noticed what Han Wu was doing and realized that they had judged too soon.
Han Wu's true body was not his complete self, yet he still retained his World strength. Using Demon King Transformation, he held his Giant Locust Blade enlarged by Thousandfold and alternated between Steelcutter and Heaven-Earth Severance. He fought with clear enjoyment, each swing severing several tentacles at once.
Several World life forms stood behind him. Steely wielded 100 Obsidrum greatswords and was actually stronger than Han Wu in his incomplete state. Dark Locust moved through the shadows, ambushing and severing several tentacles at once.
The Great Dragons, led by Alpheus, Erebard, Smog, Bakir, and Leng Ning—a new Heavenrender Great Ice Dragon prodigy—commanded over 1,000 Great Lightning Dragons into battle. Together, they blasted back ten tentacles at once.
Sword God Akanzor and Bow God Bart were both World life forms, and each fought against one tentacle without difficulty. Flame Demon King Karot and War Angel Amelia weren’t World life forms yet, but with support from the other units, they held their ground against a tentacle each.
The Origin of Mutation did not join the battle. Instead, it led a group of its subordinates in guarding the deployed Microcosms to prevent any ambushes. The Umbral Mouse was a World life form as well, but combat wasn’t its specialty. It moved along the edges of the battlefield and retrieved the severed tentacles back. Their flesh held little material value, but they would poison the soil if left where they fell.
Naturally, the Glutton Locusts treated them as food. Meanwhile, the black blades at each tentacle's tip were genuine 9-Star God-grade Divine Weapons. If sold in the Divine Civilization, each would fetch at least several hundred Divine Essence.
With his units clearing the path, Han Wu pushed through the countless tentacles and reached the nameless entity. The massive black mass constantly exhaled black smoke, a byproduct of concentrated negative and evil energy that eroded the mind and contaminated the spirit. Han Wu's will was strong, so the black smoke didn’t affect him at all.
The nameless entity sensed Han Wu’s approach and pulsed like a heartbeat, contracting and expanding in agitation.
Han Wu ignored it. He raised the Giant Locust Blade and brought it down with Heaven-Earth Severance against the rotting, flesh-like creature. The strike carved a gash more than 1,000 meters deep, cleaving through the creature. The energy of heaven and the earth dissolved the sliced section and exposed what lay within.
Han Wu looked inside and saw Hei Qi, curled like a fetus within a pale black membrane. Countless blood vessels connected to his frame, pumping pure negative energy into him. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
As if sensing Han Wu's gaze, Hei Qi opened his eyes. Nine distinct pupils of different shapes were arranged within them in perfect order. The unnatural gaze sent a chill down Han Wu’s spine despite his strength.
