The Shining Star Above The Heaven
Chapter 1158: The Distant Past 7
Aldrian saw what he could only describe as pure destruction.
Flames rose everywhere. The forest burned, the cities burned, everything was engulfed in fire. The sky turned a deep red, giving off an eerie feeling. Spatial rifts appeared across both heaven and earth.
The death laws spread across the land. Screams filled with fear and despair echoed in the distance. Blood flowed everywhere like a river.
The scene was truly like the apocalypse had befallen the world.
He finally realized that this was the place where Angelica’s family lived. In the distance, he could see the remains of what used to be her family’s mansion. It had already been destroyed, and many had died amidst the ruins.
Aldrian then raised his head when he saw countless figures floating in the sky. From their auras, most of them were Divine Realm cultivators.
They were gods.
Aldrian narrowed his eyes as he felt something foreign from their energy. It was as if they did not belong to this world. Fury slowly rose in his heart, and at that moment, he realized that these figures were the invaders.
All of them looked in the same direction, their expressions fierce, clearly ready to kill.
He then turned to the side where a battle was taking place. The fight could only be described as the greatest battle he had ever seen.
The clash shook both heaven and earth. Countless elemental attacks erupted everywhere, destroying both land and sky. Mountains flattened, the sea split apart, the earth itself was lifted. The scale of the battle was overwhelming.
Aldrian bit his lips.
The one fighting was Angelica.
She wore a robe with a style similar to Heavenly Demon, though it was already torn in many places, exposing much of her skin. Her body was wounded in several places, golden blood flowing from them.
At this moment, Angelica had already reached the Divine Realm.
She was fighting five opponents, each of them possessing an aura far stronger than hers.
She looked exhausted and was struggling to hold her ground against all five.
Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!
The sound of the world shifting echoed across the land as its surface continued to twist and break apart. The battle between the six figures showed no sign of slowing, even after continuing for several minutes.
"Truly a monster. To think she still has that much stamina and power after fighting nonstop for more than a month, and against five God Kings at that. Luckily, we managed to trap her here using her family as bait," one of the invaders in the sky said.
"This universe is truly absurd. It has countless powerful cultivators that make us feel envy. We have already sacrificed so many, yet we are still only trying to take the Ninth Heaven. If this were another universe, it would have already been drowned by an invasion force of this scale. Among all of them, Heavenly Demon is the most absurd, yet to think she possesses power like that bastard," another said.
"No wonder she is regarded as having the same talent as Heavenly Demon. Her strength is ridiculous, and she can actually unleash the same primordial chaos energy as him. How can both of them do that?" another asked.
"Luckily, she has only just entered Divine Realm. If she reached the God King or even God Emperor stage, we would need far more resources just to defeat her. She is like a weaker version of Heavenly Demon because of her lower cultivation," another commented.
"She is even said to be one of the keys to reaching a higher realm," another added.
Although all of the gods looked at Angelica with fierce expressions, fear still lingered within them. They truly saw her as a monster, no different from Heavenly Demon.
As time passed, Angelica was finally struck down.
Boom!
Her body slammed into the ground, shattering it and forming a massive crater. One of the five figures had thrown a punch from afar. The attack pierced through space and time, leaving her no chance to evade or defend.
The smoke from the impact rose and obscured the view, yet the gods could still clearly see what lay within.
Despite receiving a direct hit, Angelica was still conscious, and she could still move. This made the five figures frown.
"Truly a stubborn woman. Surrender, or this will turn much more ugly. Don’t waste your life that has already reached this point. If you surrender, you will have a chance to continue living," a man among the five figures shouted.
"Let’s just kill this woman. She is far too wild to be left alive," a woman beside him said in a fierce tone.
"Don’t. This woman is most likely one of the keys to reaching the higher realm. Our lord has already ordered that she be brought back alive. Let our lord decide what to do with her," another man beside her said.
The woman clicked her tongue and looked below, where the smoke slowly dissipated.
After a few moments, the smoke from the impact finally disappeared, revealing Angelica already standing. Fatigue was clearly visible on her face, yet her expression remained fierce, her gaze filled with restrained fury. She did not back down and looked straight upward.
Toward the five God Kings and the other gods.
The wounds on her body had grown more severe, golden blood flowing even more heavily from them. Yet despite her condition, it did not diminish her beauty or presence. At this moment, she looked like a battle angel.
She gritted her teeth and parted her lips.
"Surrender? I would rather die and never reincarnate. After you slaughtered my entire family and killed countless lives in my universe, do you think I would lower myself to surrender to you? You cowardly gods from other universes. You only know how to fight in groups against us."
Hearing her words, the gods frowned even deeper, fury rising within them. As Divine Realm cultivators, they had never been insulted like this.
One of the God Kings looked furious, yet he still forced himself to remain calm, refusing to let his emotions take control.
"Then so be it. As long as we bring you back alive, no matter the condition, we will take you with us," the man said.
But then, Angelica suddenly smiled.
That smile made the five God Kings frown and their sense of danger suddenly screamed at them. In the next moment, an invisible formation that had already surrounded them activated.
They felt a disturbance in the flow of time. It was as if they had been dragged into the distant past, back to when they were still mortal realm cultivators. Their bodies grew younger, yet at the same time, their cultivation rapidly regressed.
Weakness spread through their bodies, leaving them vulnerable to any strike.
’The time reversal formation?! Don’t tell me she set this up while fighting all of us at the same time!’ the woman among the God Kings thought, her heart trembling.
They had not sensed it at all!
The other gods who saw this were shocked, and they moved to join the fight, realizing that the God Kings had fallen into Angelica’s trap.
Angelica was about to take advantage of the moment and kill them all—
But suddenly, a terrifying pressure descended upon her.
Her body froze. She gritted her teeth as the force pressed down on her, bending her body, yet she forced herself to remain standing.
Then she saw it.
The formation she had created to trap the five God Kings was shattered, causing them to return to normal. The five of them gasped, horror filling their expressions after escaping the effect of the formation.
Angelica slowly raised her head.
A blinding light appeared above, and from within it, two figures descended.
Their bodies were shrouded in holy radiance, making them appear like supreme beings. The moment the surrounding gods saw them, they were stunned before immediately bowing.
"Greetings, Lord Arbeil. Lord Arvsen."
Their voices rang out in unison.
Angelica gritted her teeth, enduring the crushing pressure. Deep within her heart, despair began to surface.
To think that even God Emperor stage cultivators had arrived.
There was no way she could face all of them at once. She might have had a chance against a single God Emperor, but not two of them, along with this many gods.
Still, she did not show it.
Her expression remained steady, her will unyielding.
The two God Emperors looked at Angelica with calm expressions.
"I have to say, as expected of someone said to possess the same talent as Heavenly Demon. Even with all this force, you still managed to hold on," one of them said in a calm voice.
Angelica said nothing as she continued to endure the overwhelming pressure pressing down on her.
"But this ends now. You have nothing left. We have already sealed this entire region. You can no longer draw upon the energy of nature. You have used all your tricks. Heavenly Demon will not come to save you. He is currently occupied, facing hundreds of Master of Universe. No matter how strong he is, he cannot face all of them at once."
He paused slightly, his gaze steady.
"There is no path left for you. Surrender and come with us to meet our lord."
Angelica knew that she had already reached her dead end. She no longer had the power to face all of these enemies. There was no way out. There was no hope.
Her revenge for her family might never be fulfilled.
She suddenly imagined what it would be like if the Great Emperor were still here with them. Would these invaders dare to act so arrogantly? Would they even have the chance to invade at all? Most likely, they would have been killed before they could even step into this universe.
She could not help but picture his figure.
Standing before her, his back facing her.
In the end, it was nothing more than a fleeting thought. A useless hope.
She was on her own.
A faint smile appeared on her face, as if she had already made a decision deep within her heart. She began to use her comprehension of Samsara Laws, something one of the God Emperors immediately sensed. His expression changed slightly as he realized what she was about to do.
"No, you don’t."
He moved at once, using his power to seal her techniques and restrict her movements.
But Angelica only grinned.
"Too late."
