The Smiling Death
Chapter 422: I’M BACK!
Amon said his goodbyes to his friends and the other villagers.
He then tried to find the teleportation gate in the city, which could take him directly to the capital city, Mordheim.
He walked through the crowded streets, stopping to ask shopkeepers for directions along the way.
After wandering through the roads of the beautiful city for a while, he finally found the teleportation travel gate.
He approached a large white stone building with runic engravings glowing faintly in blue across its surface. Guards stood by the entrance, and a faint hum of mana vibrated through the air. Amon could feel the sheer density of magic as he stepped closer.
Many people were going in and out.
Amon really wanted to explore this city for a while. But at the same time, he was more excited to meet Princess Selena.
So he decided to head back as quickly as possible.
He stepped inside the building.
There were many teleportation gates arranged across the vast hall inside. Amon couldn’t tell exactly how many, but there were more than thirty of them.
He walked to the counter inside and stood in line, waiting for his turn.
When his turn came, he purchased a ticket for Mordheim City.
He checked the ticket.
Gate Number 9. Mordheim City at 11:30 A.M.
"Currently it’s 11 o’clock. I need to wait half an hour," Amon thought, looking at the ticket.
There were benches along the hall, so he sat down calmly.
"I need to visit a good healing center or temple to get the burn marks and cuts on my face removed. Only a high-ranking potion or magic can erase them."
He touched his hair.
"I also need a haircut. So I’ll need to visit a salon as well. Then buy some new clothes for myself. Hehe~ should be fun since I have good money now."
After a while, he decided to check his stats.
"Status Window," he muttered. A blue translucent window appeared before him.

He sighed.
"I really did get Blood Manipulation and the Blood Element."
He rubbed his forehead with a small smile.
After Vetaal had used his body, he had felt changes within himself, so he had tried checking what had happened to him.
To his surprise, he had gained the Blood Element as a new affinity and Blood Manipulation as a new ability.
He had shared this information with Scarlett, only with her. And she had been genuinely shocked. According to her, despite vampires being creatures of blood who survive on it, they did not actually possess the Blood Element.
Only her Duke family and the royal family carried the Blood Element.
Though a rare few might awaken something different in those two families, but most of them awakened blood.
When he had heard that, he had been truly surprised.
"According to her... Those who have blood element, they can perform Blood Element magic spells. And as they grow stronger, they are able to move and control blood– both their own and that in their surroundings. But one needs to reach fourth rank,Master Ascendent. To control it. " He thought, recalling her words.
Then his eyes moved to Blood Manipulation. An ability he had gained mostly through Vetaal.
It was extraordinary. Amon could control and move his own blood however he wished– just like his Shadow and Darkness abilities.
If there was any difference between his older two abilities and this new Blood Manipulation ability, it was this:
Death’s Darkness and Death’s Shadow felt alive. Obedient. Ancient. As if they had a will of their own.
Blood Manipulation had none of that. It felt more mechanical, precise and controlled, responding purely to his will.
"Also, Scarlett said that with this Blood Manipulation ability, as I grow stronger, my control over blood will far surpass that of many vampires. My spells can be more stronger. All because of this one ability. Damn... why do I always end up with abilities like these? Well, at least they’re useful."
He closed the Status Window and leaned back against the bench.
He took out his pager and called Selena, letting her know he would be there soon.
After a while, his time came.
He made his way to teleportation gate number nine.
Showing his ticket to the attendant standing near the gate, he stepped inside along with a few other people.
He came out on the other side.
With steady, resolute eyes, he stepped out of the building.
The Imperial Capital, Mordheim, stood as the heart of Valmoria—a sprawling masterpiece of stone and mana, where history and magic intertwined beneath the same sky.
Towering spires of white marble reached high into the clouds, their tips engraved with glowing runes that shimmered faintly in the light. The streets below were paved with polished granite, lined with elegant lamps fueled by mana crystals that cast a soft, steady glow.
"Hah... it looks just as beautiful as before. Nothing has changed."
He stood at the entrance of the teleportation building, quietly taking in the city.
Then a black mana-powered car with a vintage look rolled toward him.
Amon immediately understood who it belonged to.
From the front, a man in a black suit stepped out and opened the rear door.
From it stepped a dazzling woman.
She was tall and graceful, carrying herself with the kind of quiet elegance that drew eyes without effort. Her long silver hair. So pale it was nearly white, they fell loose down her back in smooth, silken waves, shifting gently with each step she took.
Her skin was fair and flawless, unblemished like fine porcelain. Long, dark lashes framed her eyes, which were a deep, vivid red, striking and sharp, holding a natural air of cool indifference that made her all the more captivating.
She wore a sky-blue blouse tucked neatly into a flowing gray skirt that reached just below her knees, the simplicity of her outfit doing nothing to diminish how effortlessly beautiful she looked.
She looked even more beautiful than before.
The moment her red eyes found Amon, they widened.
Then relief washed over them. A smile bloomed across her calm face.
Amon smiled too and waved at her. "Senior!! I’M BACK!!"
He said with pure excitement.
