Chapter 320: Amazon Lore II

Pasithea, the first born and eldest daughter, wanted to explore the world of Elyndor, and experience all the wonders and adventures it had to bring.

Irina, the second born and second daughter, was deeply in love with a mortal king and served as the leader of his elite soldiers, commanding his armies and fighting at his side in countless battles.

The last one, Zephyr, the first son and last born child of Namadris and Artemis, wanted simply to be with his sisters.

Artemis felt immensely lonely, and deeply hurt by the choices her husband had made.

Then felt betrayed yet again by the children she had sacrificed so much to protect and keep safe from all harm:

A double wound that festered in her divine heart like poison spreading through a living body.

So yeah, she inflicted her three children with a terrible and lasting curse, a declaration of divine punishment that echoed through the heavens and shook the foundations of the mortal world below.

She decreed that they shall no longer give birth to men, never again produce a male child from their bloodlines, only daughters for all eternity.

And furthermore, she proclaimed that they shall soon be wiped out completely from the face of Elyndor, their existence erased and their memories forgotten.

Except they came back to her begging for forgiveness.

They... did not come back begging for her forgiveness.

Deviant, and disappointed by their mother’s curse, they refused to crawl back to her on their knees.

They were born from divinity, so they did not die of age.

But no man was ever born of their bloodlines for generations upon generations.

No matter how much Pasithea—the eldest one who believed there must be a way—tried to change that cruel fate.

She used every method described in every book, and every scroll she could find across the entire world; from magical rituals to biological experiments to prayers and offerings.

But nothing worked, and the curse held firm.

Anyway, the women who were born from Pasithea, Irina, and—because the sisters had forced him to at least try—Zephyr became a blight upon the surface of Elyndor in the eyes of other peoples.

They were seen as bad luck and evil omens, cursed creatures touched by divine wrath.

And they mostly suffered terribly due to their superhuman abilities, which made ordinary humans fear and hate them wherever they were discovered.

Pasithea, after witnessing centuries of this suffering and persecution, finally rallied all of her scattered descendants together.

Some millions of years, from when the curse had been laid upon her and her siblings, she founded what she proudly called "Amazon."

In a specific place known to legend as Paradise Island—a hidden sanctuary where her descendants could live apart from the hostile world and its fearful inhabitants.

That original Paradise Island is destroyed now, lost to time and catastrophe, and the endless march of history.

But the Amazons have moved many times over the long centuries, wandering and searching, then settling and fleeing again.

They finally put down roots in a place called Verdant Spire some millennia ago, where they remained until this present day.

Irina, the second daughter, was not interested in joining Pasithea’s Amazon project at all.

She had her own path to walk, her own life to live.

She still worked faithfully for the human kingdom she had served for so long.

She remained in her position of authority and duty long after her beloved king lover had died of old age, leaving her alone in a world that continued to turn without him.

But Irina did have some children over the course of her long existence, and those children had descendants of their own.

Pasithea — the gatherer and collector of scattered descendants — eventually took those descendants into the Amazon tribe to join their cousins and strengthen their numbers.

Zephyr, the youngest and the only son, started following a certain demihuman princess around in his wanderings, serving as her protector and companion for reasons he never fully explained to anyone.

So he was not interested in leading a tribe of women, nor was he comfortable with the idea of being surrounded entirely by females.

He preferred his quiet life of service and devotion to his chosen princess.

He has had only one daughter in his entire life, a single daughter born from a brief, and Pasithea-controlled, union with an Amazon.

But that daughter soon bore many children of her own under his lineage.

Pasithea took those ones into the Amazon fold as well, as she had taken so many others.

Some amount of inbreeding happened among the scattered descendants over the long history, necessary to preserve bloodlines and maintain their dwindling numbers.

This created a few distinct branches and sub-groups within the larger family tree, some of them specifically aimed at disrupting the curse through careful genetic planning and magical intervention.

But all such efforts were to no avail, the curse remained unbroken and unyielding.

Pasithea took those branching lines into her growing tribe as well, gathering every fragment of her family she could find.

Later Pasithea was taken — "raptured" is the word used in the ancient texts — by Artemis, pulled up into the heavenly realm by her divine mother, never to be seen again on Elyndor.

And Irina, the reluctant second daughter, was forced by circumstance and necessity to Lord over the Amazons and rule Verdant Spire for many thousands of years.

She governed a people she had never wanted to lead, bearing a burden she had never asked to carry.

The Pure Amazons (the ones who can more seamlessly trace their lineage back to the original three children without significant dilution) are called Irinians, Zephyrians, and Pasitheans.

These specific bloodlines have near direct links with the first three children — Irina, Zephyr, and Pasithea themselves — and are considered the highest and most noble of all Amazon families.

The Irinians are noted for their distinctive silver eyes and raven-black hair as a major identifier, features that mark them clearly as descendants of Irina’s line wherever they go.

The Pasitheans are noted for their flowing silver hair and striking golden eyes, a beautiful and unmistakable combination that sets them apart from all other Amazon clans.

The Zephyrians are noted for their auburn, sun-bronzed hair that glows like embers in certain lights, and their vivid green eyes that seem to hold the memory of ancient forests within their depths.

Quick note: Zephyr looked greatly like his mother, Artemis.

"Wow... That is an incredible amount of history and lore to take in all at once," Benjamin marveled at the expansive story he had just been told, his eyes wide with wonder and amazement.

Of course, he was now fully dressed in clothes that covered his body from neck to ankle.

He continued; "And Marina is from the Zephyr clan, the Zephyrians, is that correct?"
