 "Her fever is completely gone," Jean said in astonishment. "I can’t believe this. It’s unbelievable."
 "I wouldn’t say that," Mauve said. "Your herbs have been most helpful."
 Jean looked like he wanted to say something but he kept it to himself. "We will just keep watch and see what happens in the coming days. Let me know if something feels up and please remain in bed for the meantime."
 "Of course, I know better than to push it. I’ve definitely learned my lesson the hard way." She gave a forced chuckle as her gaze met with Jael’s stern gaze.
 "Good," Jean said. "Let us pray that your current state lasts for longer this time. I’d hold on to the herbs as you haven’t taken them in almost three days and you seem to be doing better on your own. Makes me wonder if they were of any help at all."
 "I am sure it was," she replied with a smile.
 Jean smiled back politely but she could tell he didn’t believe her words. "Sire," he turned to Jael but didn’t meet his eyes. "May I have a word?"
 Mauve frowned immediately. "If it is something about me. I am quite sure you can say it here."
 "Mauve," Jael called. His tone was gentle. "I’d like to hear what Jean has to say and I promise to let you know eventually."
 "Eventually?" She asked in horror.
 "Yes," he said, not mincing words. "For now, concern yourself with getting better. Leave everything else to me."
 Mauve narrowed her eyes at Jael but he didn’t even blink. She knew there was nothing she could do to change the current situation.

 </div> She didn’t like that it was obvious they were keeping things from her. If she never got better, did he intend to keep her in the dark forever?
 "Don’t take it that way," he said. He came closer and touched her cheek. "You know I worry about you."
 "Yeah," she said and looked away. "But I guess some things never change."
 Jael’s hand fell off her face. "I will be right back. I will send Mauve in to keep you company." His tone lacked the earlier vigor.
 "Don’t worry, I will probably go back to sleep," she rolled and laid on her side.
 "Okay," he said and she felt his weight leave the bed.
 She shut her eyes and didn’t open them until she heard the door closed. She opened it and saw that she was alone.
 Mauve wondered if she may have overreacted. She didn’t think so, she couldn’t help but think that Jael keeping things from her made her even more anxious.
 She was sure he was trying to protect her but it only made her more worried. Now, she wasn’t so sure Jean didn’t know what was wrong with her.
 She sighed. She would do her hardest to get better as soon as possible. Then he wouldn’t have any reason to keep it from her.
 Mauve groaned and closed her eyes again. How long would it take this time? She was tired of being stuck in bed.

 "I should have asked to see you more discreetly."
 "Don’t worry about that. What you have to say is more important than that."
 Jean simply nodded even though Jael had stretched his hand towards a seat, the physician didn’t make any attempt to sit on it.
 "It is."
 "Then let’s hear it. I suppose it has to do with Mauve’s current condition. Is she actually getting better or is this another hoax?" Jael asked.
 "I want to believe she is but to be honest, Sire, I do not know but I do know one thing. I have never seen anything like this. No one has ever healed from getting White Disease before."
 "You are still on that?" Jael asked dismissively.
 "I am, I am pretty sure that’s what she has. The symptoms may be a little different but how the disease got its name can be clearly seen on her skin. Except she might have more than one but..." Jean shook his head. "I don’t think that’s the case."
 Jael sighed, "Are you saying this is a fluke?" Jael asked.
 "No, I don’t think so and at the same time, I don’t know. If she is truly getting better and the white patches are fading, it is nothing short of a miracle."
 Jael adjusted at Jean’s words. "A miracle?" Jael asked.

 </div> Jean nodded. "I am almost certain, the herbs I made didn’t do this. They are headaches and the like, not that. Besides, I didn’t even know what I was treating."
 "Maybe you got lucky," Jael said.
 "I don’t think so," Jean looked deep in thought and Jael could almost see the wheels in his head turn.
 "Do you have an idea?"
 "I have never treated someone with the White Disease before. However, I am pretty sure the remedy I gave her must have been given to them multiple times but it didn’t change their fate."
 "What are you saying then?"
 "I don’t know," Jean said, shaking his head. "I guess I am just astonished by the situation and the only thing I can think about is probably because she was exposed to it before her birth. I don’t know, I may be rambling."
 "Well, the details of whatever caused this is almost unimportant. If she is truly getting better, the causal effect may remain a secret."
 Jean looked torn as he shook his head. "I would really like to figure it out. The White Disease has bothered us for some time now. To be able to figure out a cure would be phenomenal."
 Jael sighed and stood to his feet. "We don’t even know if that’s what she had but if you must, carry on with whatever you need to do, just don’t bother Mauve."
 "That’s the problem. I don’t think I would ever be able to figure this out. There is no way to find out. I will be around for as long as I am needed, however, I doubt it will be for long."
 Jael frowned, he didn’t like the way it sounded as if Jean added whether Mauve would get better or not because the truth was only time would tell.</div>
