Chapter 96: Chapter 96: The Exact Same Method

When Michelle Fuller learned that Renee Jennings was now part of the police force, she was even more excited than Renee herself, screaming into the phone.

"Ahhhhhh! A special consultant for criminal investigations! That sounds so incredible!" š’»š‘Ÿā„Æā„Æš‘¤š‘’š‘š‘›š˜°š“‹š‘’š“.š’øš‘œš˜®

Renee Jennings walked slowly, holding her phone. Her voice was perfectly calm. "But I won’t be able to leave Zenvia whenever I want anymore."

"Huh?" Michelle Fuller was dumbfounded, her eyes wide. "I was planning to ask you to go on a trip abroad with me next month! Boo-hoo-hoo, why couldn’t this offer have come later?"

Renee Jennings raised a hand to brush back her hair and said lazily, "Didn’t you just say it sounded incredible?"

Michelle Fuller: "..."

’Instant regret!’

Utterly heartbroken, Michelle Fuller demanded that Renee Jennings treat her to a meal to soothe her wounded heart.

"What do you want to eat?" Renee Jennings asked, amused.

Michelle Fuller: "Let me look."

After hanging up, Renee Jennings stood waiting for a message in front of a convenience store.

Michelle Fuller forwarded her a food recommendation post: "Let’s eat at this Western restaurant! It’s great for taking pictures!"

Renee Jennings opened the post and skimmed through it. She replied, "Okay, I’ll get a cab now."

Michelle Fuller: "Wait, you’re not wearing any makeup!"

Michelle Fuller: "But that’s okay. Your bare face is enough to slay everyone anyway."

She had absolute confidence in her best friend’s looks.

Reading Michelle Fuller’s messages, Renee Jennings couldn’t help but smile.

She used a ride-sharing app to call a car and arrived at the restaurant half an hour later.

Renee Jennings went in first and sent the table number to Michelle Fuller.

Ten minutes later, Michelle Fuller, wearing exquisite makeup, sat down across from Renee Jennings.

She batted her big, beautifully made-up eyes and asked, "Renee, I did my makeup in the car. What do you think? Does it look good?"

Renee Jennings studied her makeup carefully and nodded. "It looks great."

"So, do you think I could be a beauty blogger?" Michelle Fuller asked, wiggling her eyebrows at her.

Hearing this, a flicker of surprise passed through Renee Jennings’s beautiful eyes. "You want to be a beauty blogger?"

"Yes!" Michelle Fuller got up and sat next to her, saying excitedly, "You’re a pet blogger, and I’ll be a beauty blogger. The two of us can take on the world of social media together!"

Renee Jennings was very supportive of her idea. "Definitely. I think that’s a great idea."

’She and Michelle were slowly breaking free from the plot’s control and living better lives.’

Renee Jennings was overjoyed.

Michelle Fuller affectionately looped her arm through Renee Jennings’s and started complaining, "That little brat Hank laughed at me and said my makeup skills were terrible and no one would watch my videos."

"Hank doesn’t know what he’s talking about," Renee Jennings encouraged her. "I think your makeup skills are even better than a professional studio makeup artist’s."

She wasn’t just comforting Michelle Fuller; the girl’s makeup skills were genuinely amazing.

"See? Renee, you’ve got a good eye!" Michelle Fuller said, beaming. "Once I get my channel off the ground, I’ll really make Hank eat his words."

Renee Jennings nodded in agreement. "Exactly!"

"Alright, let’s order. You must be starving." Michelle Fuller picked up the menu and began to order.

Gentle, romantic English songs echoed through the restaurant. Renee Jennings saw several girls walk in to dine, carrying bouquets of flowers.

Michelle Fuller leaned close to her ear and whispered, "People online say this place is a breakup hot spot. Couples often get into fights and break up in the middle of their meal."

Renee Jennings blinked. "Then why do so many couples still come here to eat?"

"They don’t believe in curses, I guess," Michelle Fuller said with a grin. "They think their love is unbreakable."

After saying that, she lowered her voice again. "I wonder if anyone will break up today."

Renee Jennings: "..."

"So, did you pick this restaurant just because you wanted to watch other people break up?" she asked, amused.

Michelle Fuller: "No, no, of course not! I also wanted to try the food here."

More and more customers filled the restaurant, and the empty tables around them gradually filled up.

The table closest to them was now occupied by a man and a woman. Next to the man sat a chubby Cheesie.

Michelle Fuller secretly glanced at their interaction, then leaned close to Renee Jennings’s ear and whispered conspiratorially, "I guarantee it, those two are on a blind date, and they’re both into each other."

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow. "How can you tell?"

Michelle Fuller analyzed, "Both of their smiles are a little shy. And whenever their eyes meet, the girl looks away and doesn’t hold his gaze. That means they haven’t started anything yet."

A smile touched Renee Jennings’s lips. "I don’t think you should be a beauty blogger."

"Huh?" Michelle Fuller looked stunned. "Why would you suddenly say that? Didn’t you just say my makeup skills are amazing?"

Renee Jennings said with a grin, "You’re better suited to be a relationship blogger. You’re so good at analyzing people."

Hearing that, a smug look appeared on Michelle Fuller’s face. "Hehe, I’m pretty amazing, aren’t I?"

Perhaps spurred on by the compliment, she observed them with even more enthusiasm.

Renee Jennings, however, still found the food on their own table more appealing.

She put more food onto Michelle Fuller’s plate as she ate.

As she was eating, her attention was suddenly caught by a complaining voice.

"You damn troll, all you ever do is toy with girls. You drag me out here and don’t even bother to feed me or give me a drink. You’re the worst!"

Renee Jennings traced the voice to its source, her gaze landing on the Cheesie sitting beside the man on the blind date Michelle had pointed out.

’Was that... the cat talking just now?’

Michelle Fuller leaned into her ear again. "Renee, that guy is so smooth!"

"What is it?" Renee Jennings pulled her gaze back and saw the excited look on her friend’s face.

Michelle Fuller: "The guy is such a flirt! I feel like the girl is no match for him; she’s going to fall for it any second."

Renee Jennings: "What did he do that was so flirty?"

Michelle Fuller: "He asked the girl to show him her hair tie. She handed it to him, and then he put it on his own wrist!"

Renee Jennings frowned. "And that’s considered flirty?"

’If someone did that to me, I’d just think they were rude, snatching my hair tie without even asking.’

"There’s more, of course," Michelle Fuller continued in a hushed voice. "He said, ’My mom told me that a girl’s hair tie is like a boy’s ring. When you meet a girl you like, you wear her hair tie on your wrist. Would you mind if I do that?’"

Renee Jennings: "..."

’Why does that line sound so familiar?’

She remembered something, and her eyes narrowed slightly.

’That freeloader Evan Shepherd used that exact same trick on me!’

’The exact same move... Did those two take the same masterclass in scumbaggery or something?’

"Ahhh, the girl is blushing!" Michelle Fuller was even more excited than the people involved.

But Renee Jennings’s attention was back on the Cheesie.

"BLECH. You’ve used that line on at least ten different girls. I’m so sick of hearing it my ears are about to fall off! Can’t you come up with some new material?"

The Cheesie complained, then looked up at the girl across the table. "Oh, you poor thing. Another human about to be sullied by a two-legger."

"Ahhh, she nodded yes!" Michelle Fuller whisper-screamed. "Does this mean they’re together now?!"

Renee Jennings said flatly, "I don’t approve."

Michelle Fuller froze for two seconds. "Huh? Renee, what did you just say?"

Renee Jennings: "I said, I don’t approve of them getting together."
