The Villain's Story
Chapter 906: Mission.
"Humanity is willing to do anything for those coordinates, Anything."
Those words echoed in the office for a long time, as Harrison silently stared at Sabrina, patiently waiting for a response. Sabrina, on the other hand, became engrossed in thought.
Was she capable of this? Certainly, after the ordeal with Fragment of Kizmal, a Former Supreme Being, she was confident about herself, adding on the numerous improvements she had made to herself... and the magic she learned, she was confident she could do it.
Deciphering Spatial coordinates wasn’t difficult, and even opening a portal was not a monumental task anymore. She couldn’t do it instantly like Alan and required some time to open a portal, as well as massive amounts of mana, but she was certainly capable of doing so.
But in the Abyss? Maybe...
"...How?"
But still, she asked. How was she supposed to get into the Abyssal Layer 555 in the first place? The only portal to the Abyssal layer 555 was in Terra Damnum, guarded by the Obelisk and the remaining demonic forces. It was in the heart of the continent as well; there was no way to get there without being noticed, unless something very special happened. Furthermore, the only entrance to the Abyss was also an exit; it most likely led to an important military base of the demons in the abyssal layer 555. How was she supposed to survive there?
"It’s simple, all of humanity will help you enter the portal. We intend on dealing with the Obelisk and all the remaining demonic forces on Earth before the War begins. Before this operation begins, we will get you inside of Terra Damnum. Your mission would be simple: destroy the portal as Terra Damnum is being besieged from everywhere. When the portal begins to dissipate, enter it. This will transport you to a random location in the abyssal layer 555, instead of the actual exit. This has already been tested at least two times before.
These experiments were during the first two times we besieged Terra Damnum. The portal situated at the center of what was Australia is special, designed to transport a large army. Somehow, this becomes possible when the portal is being destroyed. The unstabilization leads to such an outcome.
Fret not, this hasn’t been fixed. The Abyssal Forces don’t care much for it unless the actual war begins. The portal is also deactivated on the other side.
You will be provided with all the necessary things you need, such as identification, money, and artifacts to aid you in your journey. Remember, the core of the mission is to get those spatial coordinates and confirm the status of our personnel within the Abyss. If you think it is possible to save them, you are free to do as you please.
We will help you to the best of our ability. So, Sabrina Wellington, are you willing to accept it? Are you willing to save your Father?"
"..."
She didn’t answer for a while, aware that Harrison had added that last line to compel her to accept. Regardless, the more she thought about it, the more she was certain she could succeed. That was in regard to the Spatial Coordinates, as for saving her Father, she was uncertain. There was simply no information to go around. But then again... she could try.
Sabrina was confident that as long as she didn’t come into contact with the Martial Star himself, the Epic Being who ruled the Abyssal Layer 555, she could complete this mission. Even if she encountered an SSS-rank demon... she could escape.
Escape was something she could do, and besides, who said she was alone? Alpha and Beta would be there with her; she could sneak them into her domain, and some other vampires, and release them once in the Abyss.
She couldn’t bring Alan in there, aware of his ’fear’ of the chaos element and the Abyss. However, just because she couldn’t bring Alan on this mission with her didn’t mean he was of no use. Alan could be a safety measure. He was capable of opening a portal to her no matter where she was, through the Astral bond. Communication was also something that would be possible through the Astral bond.
The mission... was easy. All she needed to be wary of was the worst-case scenario, an encounter with the Martial Star. Other than that, this mission was possible. Of course, since Alan was still away and didn’t answer her whenever she called him through the Astral bond... her safety measure had to wait.
A mage is capable of anything, as long as they are prepared. Azmakul himself had said so. As she continued to think about it, considering everything there was, the more she was certain the mission would be easy.
Frankly, the only difficult part would be getting into the Abyss; after that, everything would be easy. With the medallion she received from the House of Death, identification was no longer a problem.
Furthermore, she was a demon, an actual demon. A vampire is one of the higher classes of demons. She wasn’t a demonic human, that was still ostracized in the Abyss, but belonged to a class of demons that were actually important.
Vampires were known to roam the Abyss in search of either a worthy master or to taste different kinds of flames. She wouldn’t be suspected of wandering the Abyssal layer. This was something she had heard from Alpha.
Unlike herself, Alpha and Beta were knowledgeable about the Abyss. She wasn’t as helpless there as the other spies... The more she thought about it, the more she realized.
Was she not the perfect one to enter the abyss as a spy? Did Harrison think of this during this very meeting? The moment he learned she was a vampire? Had he always wanted Alan to venture into the Abyss and changed his plans once she revealed herself? In this very instant? Why was he so sure she could do it? Why was he willing to gamble like this?
For a moment, she shared her Grandfather’s respect and fear for the man sitting in that seat, and then, she noticed the conviction in his eyes.
’He...’
He didn’t have a single problem in using all of humanity’s military power to send her to the Abyssal Realm 555, not a single problem. Sabrina was certain Harrison was ready to burn Terra Damnum to the ground once she agreed. He had no qualms about slaughtering all of the Obelisk, the demonic humans, and the demons.
"...I’ll... do it."
She agreed.
