Harrison explained himself, noticing the shift in Sabrina.

"Your Father was working on a mission for the Association, which was to infiltrate the Abyss and gather information. The Association has quite a few spies, like your Father in the Abyssal Layer 555. Your Father, Robert, was among the best we had.

His mission was simple, it was to investigate the seven cities in the Abyssal layer 555, the key figures of the Martial Star’s army, and any other ’peculiarities’ within the Abyss, ones that we could use to our advantage."

Demons consider the number seven to be ’holy’ in some sort, they are deeply influenced by the seven deadly sins of Wrath, Gluttony, Envy, Greed, Sloth, Lust, and Pride. In all prosperous layers of the Abyss, where Demon Lords and other rulers reside, the number of cities does not exceed seven.

Pride is, more often than not, the capital of the Layers, while only a few choose other sins as their capital cities. The Seven Deadly Sins originate from the seven unique skills of the Abyss, each named after a Sin.

Devils refer to the demons that actually possess these skills. They hold a large amount of power in the Abyss, and are more often than not viewed as equal or higher than the seventy-two demon lords; however, some Demon Lords, like Baal and Agares, are stronger than most of the Devils.

The Devils are granted their authority due to their unique skills. In theory, any demon can become a Devil if one of the Seven Deadly Sins’ Unique skill chooses them, but currently, all the slots are filled.

Each of the seven unique skills is in the hands of a being. Pride is in the hands of Lucifer Morningstar, the only Supreme Being of the Abyss, and the Pinnacle of the demonic.

Greed belongs to Mammon, Sloth to Belphegor, Wrath to Satan, Envy to Leviathan, Lust to Asmodeus, and Gluttony to Beelzebub. The exact contents of the skills are unknown, as no Devil ever reveals them, aside from Lucifer.

These seven are the Devils of the Abyss, among them, Lucifer stands at the top. Demon Lords, on the other hand, are a special existence. They are beings tied to the Abyss’s authority over Demons. They are an order of seventy-two and hold authority over demons, much like how Vampires can control lower-ranked vampires. They are a special existence, and have always been the ruling authority of the Abyss.

Asmodeus, the demon of Lust, is both a Demon Lord, and a Devil. He is somewhat special.

Demons, all demons, however, worship Lucifer like a God, which is why Pride is more often than not the Capital of the seven demonic cities.

"His investigations were proceeding normally, until suddenly, four months ago, we received a telegram from almost all of our strongest agents. They described it as if they were being hunted down, but not killed. In a month, all of our top agents were caught and imprisoned in the prisons of the Abyssal layer 555. Contact ceased from that point on.

Most of them are still alive, like your father, but we are unaware of their current state. We don’t know what has happened to them, but we are eager to save them and deal some damage to our enemy as well.

You can contribute greatly to this."

Sabrina was silent, still comprehending what she had heard. Her eyes continued to shake, as her breathing became irregular. Sweat poured down her brow as her emotions couldn’t be brought under control. Her darkness affinity surged, barely able to be controlled. Until eventually, black lines appeared on her neck, chin, and face. A rune had activated, one she had inscribed on herself in case something like this ever happened, and soon enough, her emotions subsided.

But she was still walking a thin line. She took a deep breath and asked, her voice was barely audible.

"How...?"

Harrison didn’t respond for a while, occupied by the rune that had manifested on Sabrina; his eyes brimmed with interest, but he refrained from asking about it right now. It was inappropriate.

He explained himself.

"Are you aware of the main reason we lost the initial war? Why do the invasions continue to batter humanity down again and again? Why did we suffer so much?"

He took a deep breath and spoke, his voice laced with great sorrow.

"It was simple; it was a war that was new to us. Our enemies could appear anywhere. It wasn’t like the standard war, where two territories slowly fought for each other’s land, trading it here and there.

Demons could appear anywhere, from the skies, from beneath the ground, and right beside us as well. They could open portals anywhere in our cities and ravage us. They would cut off our communications, and we would be divided. Back in those times... things were rough. We had no information on where they would strike, and we couldn’t even begin to do something about it. Of course, as we progressed, we figured out how to counter them. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Preparations are already underway... but I don’t wish to be on the defensive all the time, we can’t win like that. I hope to utilize the same tactic the demons used, sudden appearance over the enemy strongholds.

For this, we require spatial coordinates and portal constructs. While the latter is expensive, all of us are willing to bear the cost if the former is in our hands. Originally, we wanted Alan Peccator to do this, since he is someone who can definitely survive the harsh environment of the Abyss and deal with the dangers there with ease. However, he is nowhere to be found at the moment, and time is running out. Gary, the only other spatial sorcerer we have, is too weak. He can’t be entrusted with this mission. This leaves us with only you, the only other person besides those two who knows spatial sorcery, and one who is adept at it...

Humanity is willing to do anything, anything for those coordinates. Anything."
