Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Power Level: Single-Universe

In the end, the universe still collapsed...

At the moment all matter was polluted by that strange blue aberration, a bizarre spiritual entity began laughing like it had gone mad.

"Hahaha..."

"Let it all be destroyed! Let everything be destroyed!"

This spiritual being far surpassed every other higher-dimensional existence.

It was the so-called God.

It led everything and ruled everything. It had once created countless monsters on Earth, then carried out endless experiments in the depths of the cosmos, polluting the souls of countless humans.

"You are humanity’s enemy."

In the endless universe, the king whose face could not be seen suddenly appeared before that higher-dimensional god and spoke coldly.

"I’m humanity’s enemy? Then what are you? One giant stitched-together monstrosity? Just look at yourself. Do you still resemble a human at all?"

The higher-dimensional god looked at the king with naked contempt.

"It’s enough if I’m the only one in the multiverse who’s tainted. As long as my people remain safe, that is enough. Now it’s time for you to die."

The king did not care in the slightest.

As his level rose higher and higher, he had changed. Once, he was the sort of man who killed whoever provoked him. Now, he sought to create a world for humanity across the omniverse. He had already understood everything. He would bear all evil upon himself and shoulder the responsibility of his entire species’ evolution. The road ahead was littered with corpses, but as long as he alone carried that burden, it was enough.

The king had always understood one thing. He knew that the rise of his race would mean the oppression of other races.

But he did not care.

"You can’t kill me!"

"I am that final one percent!"

"As long as I don’t die, you can never fully rule this universe. And as long as you can’t fully rule this universe, you can never kill me."

God seemed utterly unconcerned with the king, because it believed it could never die.

"Where is my chosen champion?"

Only then did the Emperor of Humanity slowly utter those words.

And after those words spread across the starry universe...

A bald man with no hair at all, wearing a cheap yellow hero suit and a white cape, Saitama, appeared before the higher-dimensional life-form that called itself God.

"I’ve got a surprise for you!"

"Let me show you what a surprise really looks like!"

The Emperor of Humanity smiled, and his smile was one of pure delight.

"You..."

For the first time, God lost its nerve.

It understood the rules, and precisely because it understood the rules, it knew that the only being in this universe capable of killing it instantly was the bald man in front of it.

Because it knew that this universe existed in the first place because of him.

"You..."

God wanted to say something, maybe beg for mercy, but it knew the Emperor standing there would never let it go.

Because it was not human.

Boom!

Saitama didn’t waste a single word. The instant he saw God, he threw a punch.

It was an utterly ordinary-looking punch, but the moment it flew out, space itself seemed to split apart. Everything collapsed. Laws, dimensions, all of it crumbled under the one-hit-kill rule that governed Saitama in this universe.

"Ah... this really will kill me."

Watching that fist grow larger and larger before its eyes, God showed a faint, relieved smile. It had already seen its own fate long ago. It had known for some time that it would die to this punch.

Boom!

With an endless roar, God shattered into countless fragments.

"Come."

Seated upon his imperial throne, the Emperor beckoned the instant he saw God collapse. He drew those fragments into his own body, and at the same time, with God’s destruction, he gained complete control over that universe.

"Is that enough?"

After killing God, Saitama looked toward the Emperor sitting high above on his throne.

"It’s enough."

The Emperor smiled at his chosen champion and allowed the law that governed Saitama to take effect within the universe inside his body.

In other words, while his chosen champion might only be at a planet-busting level in other worlds, the moment he entered the universe inside the Emperor, he would regain the same one-hit-kill power he had in the world of One-Punch Man.

If Jovian ever encountered someone troublesome enough to give even him a headache, he could simply open the door to the universe inside his body, trick them inside, and kill them there.

"Then I’m heading back! It’s the weekend, the supermarket has huge sale prices today!"

Saitama looked anxiously at the Emperor, who radiated an invisible holy brilliance. He had faced God without the slightest tension, but now his brows were tightly knit in worry over missing the sale. From that alone, the Emperor could tell just how important supermarket discounts were to him.

"Go on."

The Emperor nodded and waved his hand, and his chosen champion vanished from before him.

"Hah..."

Only after everything was settled did the Emperor finally let out a slow breath.

Then, in the next moment, he swallowed that endless starfield into his own body.

In a white expanse of higher-dimensional space, the Emperor, Jovian, stood there quietly.

Around him floated two small universes, the two single universes he now ruled.

And at that moment, Jovian’s level had finally reached the single-universe tier.

At that moment, without relying on any tools or divine power, Jovian himself had reached that level through his own strength alone.

But the path from single-universe to multiversal was not determined by how many universes you absorbed.

It depended on quality.

Jovian had grown stronger, and he knew he had grown stronger, but new problems came with it. After reaching the single-universe level, some weaker universes could no longer withstand his entry. The moment Jovian’s true body entered, the entire universe would collapse. As for higher-level universes, they would either reject Jovian outright or suppress his power.

Take the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for example. The material universe it occupies is the inner universe of the Seventh Cosmos’s Eternity. Since Eternity is multiversal in scale, it doesn’t block beings below that level from entering its inner universe. But it does suppress stronger existences. That was why certain single-universe-level dimensional gods, despite possessing tremendous power, couldn’t fully display it in the MCU. It was also why some multiversal beings always appeared through avatars. Their mere existence was enough to make a universe collapse.

"Sigh... I’ve finally climbed high enough to count as a pawn."

Feeling the endless power within himself, Jovian let out a slow sigh. Below the single-universe tier, in the eyes of the real heavyweights, you were not even qualified to be used as a chess piece.

"But now that I finally have the power, it’s time to deal with the problems in the Invincible world."

Now that Jovian had reached the single-universe tier, he finally had the confidence to solve the problems in the world of Invincible.

With a thought, his body vanished from that small white higher-dimensional room and entered the Invincible universe.

"First, sever this world’s connection to Heaven!"

Jovian’s will became a massive pair of scissors and instantly cut off the connection between the Invincible world and that universe’s Heaven.

"Next, sever this world’s connection to Hell!"

His will cut off the connection between the Invincible world and the main universe’s Hell as well.

"And finally, cut the universe I’m in completely out of the multiverse itself!"

At the very end, Jovian severed the world he inhabited from the Invincible multiverse entirely.

"That should do it..."

After finishing everything and realizing no higher power had come looking for him, Jovian finally relaxed.

At that point, a completely sealed-off, fully isolated single universe, the Invincible Jovian world, had been snipped out of the Invincible multiverse one cut at a time by Jovian’s scissors.

In Jovian’s eyes, the Invincible Jovian universe was now nothing more than an absurdly tiny paramecium sitting between the Dark Horse omniverse and the Marvel omniverse.

That was the current scale of Jovian’s power in front of the total Dark Horse universe and the total Marvel universe.

About the same as a paramecium.

"Sigh..."

Jovian let out another breath, then fed all the matter and energy he had absorbed from other universes back into the Invincible Jovian universe. He established a psionic realm there, along with an entirely new Heaven and Hell, and took over the universe’s administrative authority. At that moment, Jovian had effectively become the Eternity of the Invincible Jovian world.

"I need to build up my own power base."

After reconstructing the universe, Jovian began looking forward to the people on Earth under his command growing stronger, strong enough to matter. Some dimensional invasions couldn’t be handled by him alone. Certain rulers of other universes would simply block him directly. He would have to learn from multiversal giants like Darkseid and send armies of his own to fight in other universes. When that time came, it would all depend on the strength of the people under him.

"Looks like I really need to visit the Warhammer universe and learn from my predecessor."

Jovian decided to head to the world of Warhammer and study humbly under humanity’s great predecessor, the first Emperor of Mankind, so he could learn all kinds of techniques.

"But before that..."

"I still need to solve a few problems inside my own universe first."

With that thought, Jovian returned to Earth.

And on Earth...

"So this is why you called us here, Nolan?"

"You really did find an incredibly clean, powerful star system. And there’s also an abundance of manpower here. The future of the Viltrumites will rise here."

A broad-shouldered man with a black mustache under his nose stood there with his arms folded and a smile on his face as he looked at Nolan.

That man was none other than Viltrum’s Grand Regent, Thragg.

Behind him stood a whole group of Viltrumites.

They had all been called here by Nolan, who had said he wanted to give them a surprise. At first, Thragg hadn’t believed him, but after arriving in the solar system and seeing the four Earths before him, along with the host of powerful superhumans gathered there, he believed it.

"But since I’m here now, this place belongs to me. You don’t object, do you, Nolan?"

Thragg descended until he stood in front of Nolan, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

"I’m afraid I can’t allow that."

Nolan showed no fear at all in the face of Thragg’s sharp gaze. He simply stood before him and delivered those words coldly.

"Nolan, I always thought you were a smart man."

"But now I can see you’re just a fool..."

"You’re planning to rebel, aren’t you? And with what? These natives behind you?"

Thragg shook his head as he looked past Nolan. The natives behind him were indeed strong, some of them even stronger than ordinary Viltrumites, but to Thragg that meant nothing.

Because he was stronger than all of them.

"You’re the real traitor here!"

Nolan shook his head at Thragg, then flew into the air and looked at the gathered Viltrumites, even if most of them were hybrids.

"I, Nolan, am of Viltrum’s royal line! I am a descendant of the previous Viltrumite emperor! I am the true ruler of Viltrum, and only I can lead the Viltrumites down the road to restoration!"

"No, more than that, I will make Viltrum even stronger!"

Nolan clenched his fist, his fighting spirit blazing as he spoke with passion.

"A descendant of Viltrum’s royal family?"

"Is that true?"

"If that’s the case, then maybe we really should follow Nolan."

"But Thragg really is stronger..."

The Viltrumites immediately began murmuring among themselves, questioning and debating.

"Tch..."

Thragg glanced back at the Viltrumites as they started whispering, his eyes filled with contempt. Then he turned his head and fixed Nolan with a vicious stare.

Thragg knew that if what Nolan said was true, then as long as Nolan remained alive, Thragg’s rule over the Viltrumites would never truly be secure.

"There’s no point in talking. Who knows whether you really have royal blood or not?"

"Let strength decide it. Let strength decide who the true leader of the Viltrumites is."

His gaze sharpened. Thragg had decided to kill Nolan before his bloodline could ever be verified. That way, no one would know the truth, and no one could ever accuse him of murdering a royal heir.

"Works for me!"

Nolan shot up from the ground, veins bulging on his forehead as he hurled a punch at Thragg.

"Hmph."

Facing Nolan’s sub-light-speed punch, Thragg merely curled the corner of his mouth upward. He could hardly be bothered to dodge.

Thud.

Nolan’s fist slammed into Thragg’s arm.

In that instant, Nolan knew he was at a disadvantage. It felt like his entire fist, along with his forearm, was about to explode.

"I’m not his match."

Nolan knew at once that he was no opponent for Thragg. Thragg’s body had likely already reached the very limit of the Viltrumites, maybe even the biological limit itself.

"Nolan, after all these years, you’re still just as weak as ever."

Thragg shook his head. He knew the time had come to eliminate Nolan and take total control of the solar system.

Boom!

The moment he settled on that decision, Thragg’s eyes turned icy. His fist tore through the air and smashed toward Nolan’s head.

If nothing interrupted it, that punch would kill Nolan outright.

But...

Tap.

With a soft sound, Thragg’s fist stopped just one centimeter from Nolan’s head.

It was as if an entire universe stood between his fist and Nolan’s skull. No matter how much force Thragg used, he simply could not make contact.

"This is..."

Thragg’s face changed, and a bad feeling instantly rose in his chest.

"Thragg, you are nothing more than Viltrum’s Grand Regent. Yet when royalty stands before you, you do not kneel? Are you trying to rebel? Or have ambition and desire blinded you so completely that they’ve tightened around your throat?"

As that figure slowly appeared in the sky above them, wreathed in endless radiance, the Grand Regent began pounding at his own throat. His body swayed unnaturally, and in the end, Thragg’s eyes grew unfocused as he dropped to his knees on the ground.
