Chapter 47: Chapter 32: Harvest

Originally planning to save up for a set of ten consecutive draws, moving from non-European to European, it now seems safer to draw them as soon as possible. This world is simply too terrifying, never knowing when the Buddhist Sect might come knocking.

After a while, Journey to the West returned to Lin Fang’s chest and disappeared. Lin Fang looked at the two glowing objects in front of him, not sure whether to consider his luck good or bad.

A Golden Core and a Relic, these were the gains from the two attempts. Though they were not the Divine Skills he had imagined, he couldn’t say they were bad.

This Golden Core was a Nine-Turn Golden Core. With it, Lin Fang’s mana would be further enhanced, allowing him to more easily comprehend the ways of Heaven and Earth. Moreover, this Relic was a fine treasure, capable of expelling evil and avoiding calamities, and most crucially, it could shield one from karma. This was why the Yellow-robed Monsters always carried it, as it was the only way they could evade the inspections of the Heavenly Court.

Without the slightest hesitation, Lin Fang swallowed the Golden Core in his hand, and instantly a strong surge of mana coursed through his body. Yet, this mana was very gentle, seemingly able to harmonize with all beings.

Soon after circulating through Lin Fang’s meridians for a complete cycle, it transformed into Lin Fang’s own mana. At this moment, Lin Fang’s aura rose sharply. The surging mana even caused his meridians to ache faintly. If he had not consistently maintained his body tempering, he would not have been able to maintain the Leakless state, and much of its effectiveness would have been wasted.

Lin Fang dared not relax at all, quickly cycling his cultivation technique, refining qi to transform the spirit, and his continuously strengthening soul power suddenly brought him into a mysterious state.

In this state, he was able to clearly perceive the Dao contained in all things, even seeing what appeared to be runes on mountain rocks and in wooden forests.

A phrase spontaneously flashed through his mind: "Man follows Earth, Earth follows Heaven, Heaven follows Dao, and Dao follows nature."

Such was the way of Refining the Spirit to Revert to the Void, consuming soul power to comprehend the grand Dao of Heaven and Earth, thus achieving a leap in life. In this state, Lin Fang’s mind was extraordinarily clear, and some of the ambiguities in his cultivation resolved themselves.

Most importantly was observing the rotation of the Five Elements in Heaven and Earth and comprehending the rules of Heaven and Earth, for this was the true strength of an Immortal.

After a long while, the surging mana within Lin Fang gradually depleted, and his soul also felt fatigued. Lin Fang knew that the time had come. If he continued, it would damage his soul, as the path of cultivation particularly cautioned against haste in seeking quick results.

Gently exhaling a breath of stale air, Lin Fang felt remarkably well. The previously somewhat obscure world gradually became clear, as if a mysterious veil had been lifted from in front of him.

With a flicker of his form, Lin Fang arrived inside the Glazed Glass Tower. Upon entering, he saw the Little Fox and two others devoutly kneeling on the ground, worshipping.

When he looked up, he almost felt his soul fly out of fright. It turned out that on the table, there surprisingly sat a Buddha, majestic in appearance, radiating golden light of Buddha.

Lin Fang’s first reaction was that the Buddhist Sect had come knocking, and he subconsciously thought to leave, but eventually, he stopped his steps. After taking a careful look, he realized, it wasn’t a Buddha at all but that lazy little paper figure glowing within the Buddha’s light.

At this moment, it was sitting cross-legged with a mysterious Sanskrit glowing brightly on its chest, and its entire body was enveloped in the golden light of Buddha. If one did not look closely, they really might not recognize it.

Understanding everything, he couldn’t help but rush forward and lift up the pretentious little paper figure.

Just a moment ago, the paper figure, which had appeared dignified like a high monk, immediately became displeased, starting to punch and kick at his fingers.

"What are you up to now?" Lin Fang asked the spirited little paper figure, somewhat annoyed.

The little paper figure, incapable of speech, continued to manipulate its small arms, constantly attacking Lin Fang’s fingers.

"Big Brother Lin!"

"Boss!"

The three Little Monsters exclaimed in surprise. Earlier, Little Fox had informed the two fellows of their current predicament, and knowing the power of the Buddhist Sect, they were deeply worried and could only resort to prayer.

It was then that the Paper figures emitted Buddha’s Light, causing the Little Monsters to worship them.

"Don’t worry, it’s all right now!" Lin Fang said, smiling to comfort the three, aware that the recent events had frightened them.

"However, we can’t stay here much longer. I expect Buddhist Soldiers will arrive in a few days, and the monsters in the vicinity are likely to suffer," Lin Fang said gravely.

He was quite aware of the Buddhist Sect’s methods; their mysterious scriptures could manipulate the soul, turning all monsters into the most fanatical devotees, and the continuously generated Power of Faith could sustain the Buddhist Treasures.

Lin Fang could foresee the Buddhist Sect’s power growing under these two tactics, but instead of feeling fear, he was somewhat eager to test himself.

Because if the Buddhist Sect continued to expand its influence crazily, it was very likely to affect the interests of the Heavenly Court. Eventually, both parties would battle for control over the Three Realms.

He might also have a chance to benefit from the chaos, but that was likely a matter for after the Journey to the West concluded. For now, he needed to focus on enhancing his strength to establish a solid foundation for securing a better position in the turbulent Three Realms in the future.

"Big Brother Lin, my grandmother?" Little Fox asked softly with tears in her eyes.

He was terrified of receiving despairing news from Lin Fang, for this was the relative he had finally found.

"Your grandmother is fine. She has been enlightened by the Buddhist Sect and joined their ranks, so naturally, she won’t face any harsh punishment but will devote herself entirely to Buddha."

"Can she be restored then?" Little Fox pressed on, knowing his grandmother would never want to spend the rest of her life that way, particularly as she despised the Buddhist Sect.

Lin Fang looked at the mysterious Sanskrit on the Paper figures, feeling that this method was not entirely foolproof and that careful study might indeed reveal a way to counter it.

"Yes, absolutely. The methods of the Buddhist Sect are mysterious, but in this world, all things have their counterparts, and no technique is insurmountable; it’s just that our power is too low. We need to lie low and then wait for the right moment."

"Wait for a moment that can turn the world upside down!" Lin Fang said, his eyes bright as he spoke as though he were challenging fate, causing the three Little Monsters to be continuously impressed, exclaiming in admiration.

In the midst of the conversation, the Paper figures broke free from Lin Fang’s grasp, returning to their favored position, with Buddha’s Light shining once more. However, this time Lin Fang sensed a certain aroma from them, that of the Power of Faith.

It seemed that after absorbing the Sanskrit, the Paper figures had gained the ability to absorb the Power of Faith.

"Could it be, you might actually cultivate into a Buddha?" Lin Fang muttered to himself as he looked at the dignified appearance of the Paper figures.
