Chapter 83: Chapter 68: Ambush

One could find a reliable master to change one’s life, so as not to live an existence fraught with dangers like his own.

"By the way, the quality of your materials is not bad at all, where did you get them from?" After paying, Lin Fang casually asked.

However, the man revealed a surprised expression and said, "Does the young master not know?"

"Know what?"

"Could it be that the young master didn’t come here for the relics of the Qionghua Sect?" the lame man asked in return.

Lin Fang smiled, and the lame man took the cue, thinking that this revered young master was probably just traveling for pleasure and stumbled upon this occasion, and then he patiently explained, "A few days ago, a hundred miles away from the town, a great radiance burst forth. People went to investigate and found that it was the place where the Qionghua Sect had once fallen."

"Qionghua Sect?" Lin Fang hadn’t heard of this sect.

The lame man looked at Lin Fang with astonishment and thought to himself, "Where does this noble young master come from, living in such luxury and not even knowing about the Qionghua Sect, he must have sneaked out from home."

However, for the sake of the money, he still said patiently, "This Qionghua Sect used to be famous and produced many ascended true beings. For some unknown reason, they audaciously decided to ascend en masse to the Heavenly realm."

"They somehow obtained Living Soil and transformed the entire sect so that it could ascend to the Heavenly realm as well, but unfortunately, their actions angered the Jade Emperor who sent the Mysterious Lady of the Nine Heavens to strike down the whole sect to the Mortal World. The once formidable top sect thus vanished into thin air, with only a few disciples escaping to the heavens."

"Later generations have always been searching for the site where the Qionghua Sect fell. For many years, nothing was found until recently when a brilliant light soared into the sky from that place, alerting everyone that this was indeed where the Qionghua Sect fell from the Nine Heavens back in the day."

Lin Fang suddenly realized, the fleeting figures in the sky lately were all because of these relics of the Qionghua Sect.

"After all, the Qionghua Sect was the top sect of that era, and just finding a few things there is enough for the likes of us. Therefore, many people plan to try their luck in the relics. I got these materials from there as well," the man explained.

"It’s very dangerous inside, isn’t it?" Lin Fang asked quietly.

The man pointed to his own broken leg and said, "This leg was broken inside there. You have no idea of the dangers inside. The souls of those Qionghua Sect people are trapped in the relics and have all turned into vengeful demon heads, appearing and disappearing unpredictably. They were powerful cultivators before their death, so they all know spells. Many people have already died there." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"If you’re thinking of going there for a visit, I’d really advise you against it, it’s a bit sinister," he warned.

Lin Fang smiled and nodded, but he was determined to enter the relics and investigate thoroughly.

Not long after he had left the town, Scar-faced Tiger had already noticed his movement and hurriedly ran to Madam Witch, excitedly saying, "Let’s make our move, that youngster has already left the bounds of the town."

A cruel smile appeared on Madam Witch’s aged face, as she pulled a small straw man from her bosom, which bore a mysterious talisman apparently drawn in fresh blood.

In the center of the straw man was indeed the hair that Scar-faced Tiger had obtained from Lin Fang.

Madam Witch placed the straw man on a mysterious altar and began to dance strangely around it, her hair disheveled. The flames around her flickered uncertainly, and the entire cave seemed to be filled with a mysterious aura.

As Lin Fang walked along the road, he suddenly felt dizzy, but just then, the relic within the Glazed Glass Tower shone brilliantly, and a dark shadow flew out from his body, turning to ash in midair.

"A curse?" Lin Fang murmured to himself.

Since his encounter with Scar-faced Tiger, he had been waiting for the other party to make a move; unexpectedly, that person chose such means to target him.

"It seems that these cultivators cannot be underestimated; they even possess such Dharma Techniques." Following the cause and effect, Lin Fang flew toward the source of the curse, his interest in this method of cursing growing strong.

Meanwhile, in the cave, Madam Witch watched helplessly as the straw man she had painstakingly created spontaneously combusted and turned to ash in an instant, causing her to spit out a mouthful of fresh blood from the curse’s backlash.

"Who exactly is he, and why can he resolve my curse so effortlessly?" Madam Witch, with her hair disheveled, stared intently at Scar-faced Tiger, hoping he could provide an answer.

"I don’t know who he is, just that he is generous in his actions; could it be someone backing him has intervened?"

"Most likely, the person behind him is exceptionally powerful, easily resolving my curse. To be safe, we can’t stay here any longer." Madam Witch quickly said, her face showing a reluctant expression as she looked at the cave she had lived in for so long.

However, having dealt with noblemen before, she knew all too well that since she had offended him, it would be an unending feud. These families would persistently hunt her down for the sake of their reputation and dignity.

"You’ll have to compensate me for this, or I won’t let it go," she angrily told Scar-faced Tiger.

Scar-faced Tiger forced a bitter smile, slapped his own cheek fiercely, and cursed himself for being blind to have provoked someone he shouldn’t have. Knowing Madam Witch’s formidable nature, he could only plead, "Don’t worry, I will fully compensate you for your losses, just give me a few days."

As the two were talking, they suddenly heard footsteps at the entrance of the cave. Madam Witch immediately shouted in alert, "Who’s there?"

No sooner had she spoken than Lin Fang slowly walked into the cave from the entrance, alone, with a radiant smile, saying, "So, it was you two plotting against me, wasn’t it? Shouldn’t we settle our accounts now?"

"It’s you, you dare come here alone?" Scar-faced Tiger showed a hint of a smile, genuinely surprised that the noble gentleman before him had come without his men. Perhaps he had a chance to take him hostage.

However, Madam Witch was very clear that such a person wouldn’t likely come alone; possibly myriad experts were hidden behind him. She had already decided to seize the opportunity to leave as soon as possible.

Yet, Scar-faced Tiger couldn’t wait that long as he wanted to take Lin Fang hostage before those men arrived, thus gaining leverage for bargaining.

With that, he made the first move, drawing a short dagger from within his clothes and charging toward Lin Fang with the speed of lightning, the blade flashing coldly in the air as it plunged into Lin Fang’s body.
