Chapter 87: Chapter 72: Trap

After all, cultivators who dared to go there often became food for the monsters, making the Journey to the West Path a forbidden area among cultivators, rarely approached by anyone.

Lin Fang, having traveled this way, had never seen so many cultivators; it was no wonder the Human Clan was called the protagonist of Heaven and Earth, outnumbering the Great Demon Race by far.

"Alas, it’s truly difficult to question the will of Heaven from ancient times. So many people were killed just for defying Heaven," Lin Fang said, shaking his head.

Sighing as he walked through the plaza, Lin Fang was surprised by the ruthlessness of the gods of the Heavenly Court, as a tall building appeared before him.

The wooden pavilion was surrounded by runes carved all around, remaining intact despite the long years.

In the center was a wooden plaque with the words "Transmitting Law Pavilion" written on it. Lin Fang stepped forward, but a golden barrier suddenly materialized as if to block his way.

Lin Fang smiled slightly, mana surged through his body, and the barrier shattered instantly. He walked into the pavilion, where rows of neatly arranged bookshelves exceeded Lin Fang’s imagination in their preservation.

He called three little demons out, and seeing the scene, they all opened their mouths in awe.

"Amazing! So many books," Little Fox exclaimed uncontrollably. Among the Fox Demons, there had always been an admiration for scholars, so Little Fox greatly envied scholars. Seeing so many books now, he couldn’t help but exclaim.

"What’s the use? You can’t eat them!" Bashan Tiger sneered.

Yi Hailong suddenly jumped up and punched Bashan Tiger on the head, scolding, "Eat, eat, eat, that’s all you think about. Haven’t you heard what the boss said? Books are the ladder of human progress."

Bashan Tiger, covering his head, protested, "You said it yourself, it’s the ladder of human progress, not mine. What does it have to do with me?"

Yi Hailong was stunned; he didn’t know what to say and could only glare at Bashan Tiger, adamant that questioning the boss was wrong.

"These are all cultivation techniques, and some spells. Maybe you can use them too," Lin Fang said softly with a smile.

At these words, the eyes of the three little demons brightened instantly; they were eager to improve their own strength.

So, the previously listless Bashan Tiger immediately became spirited; he had decided to move every book here into the Glazed Pagoda.

"There’s no need for you to move them. Just take note of the order and I’ll gather them. You can sort them out later. There are more valuable things ahead; we can’t linger here any longer," Lin Fang said.

Once the few little demons confirmed everything, Lin Fang’s palm revealed the Glazed Pagoda, and with a thought, the books were sucked into the pagoda.

White Ape was seated cross-legged, his Treasured Sword on his lap. He heard a noise and saw countless bookshelves filling the second floor of the pagoda to the brim, causing him to sigh and then continue nurturing his Treasured Sword.

Meanwhile, as Lin Fang and the others were tallying their gains, the Qinglian Sword Sect, who had met Lin Fang once, were in a wretched state.

The reason was that not long ago, the Xueyi Sect had suddenly ambushed them. Unprepared, several of their brothers and sisters were killed. Now, only the eldest brother and elder sister were left protecting their junior brother, all bearing injuries.

"Xueyi Sect, you are truly despicable!" the woman shouted angrily.

"Of course, since you all call us the Demon Cult, wouldn’t it be a waste of reputation if we weren’t at least a bit despicable?" a man with characters etched on his face said with a sinister smile.

"Senior Brother, let’s make our move. They must have exhausted all their escape techniques by now, better kill them quickly to avoid further complications," another voice said.

"You are right," the man nodded.

The Grand Senior Brother of the Qinglian Sword Sect, who had been covertly crushing a jade talisman behind his back, spoke, "No need to sneak around. Since we chose to strike, naturally we can prevent your last message from being sent. Otherwise, why would we bother driving those fools into these ruins?"

The Grand Senior Brother looked up to see the sky filled with red smoke, realizing it must be the Xueyi Sect’s method of blocking communications, a wave of despair washed over him.

He knew this technique could not last very long, but even the brief duration was enough to kill him and his comrades several times over. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

As the disciples of the Xueyi Sect drew closer, he clenched his teeth, suddenly pushed his junior sister and brother behind him, and charged into the crowd of the Xueyi Sect, his body surging with mana, beginning to swell.

"No, he’s going to self-destruct, run for it!" the leader shouted, and everyone hurriedly scattered to escape.

"Grand Senior Brother!" his junior brother cried out miserably but was forcefully held back by his senior sister.

The woman, usually as cold as ice, now had tears in her eyes, but she understood clearly that her senior brother was buying them a chance to live. They had to seize the fleeting moments his life had bought and escape the encirclement.

Thus, she grabbed her junior brother’s arm and disappeared from the spot using an escape technique.

A massive explosion resounded, echoing through the space of the ruins. A huge windstorm swept around, turning countless animals and plants to ashes with its violent energy.

A tempest roared through the ruins and when the explosion subsided, a tremendous crater had formed on the ground, many members of the Xueyi Sect too slow to evade were caught in the blast, vomiting fresh blood.

"Damn it!" the leader of the Xueyi Sect cursed.

He glanced in the direction the two had fled, grinding his teeth, "Follow them! This time, make sure everyone in the Qinglian Sword Sect perishes here."

Meanwhile, the surviving pair emerged from beneath the ground and saw the entrance to the Qionghua Sect, their intended destination for this mission. Under ordinary circumstances, they would have been immensely joyous, yet now, the two could hardly feel any joy, considering so many fellow disciples had perished, leaving only themselves barely clinging to life.

"Senior Sister Zhao, Grand Senior Brother died so horribly!" the junior brother said, tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Junior Brother Xiang, now is not the time to cry. The people from the Xueyi Sect won’t let us go. We must find a hiding place quickly. Although our call for help was sent, and they used their secret techniques to cover it up, it will only delay them for so long. If we can hold on a little longer, our seniors outside will break through and slaughter this band of bastards from the Demon Cult," Senior Sister Zhao said through gritted teeth.

The junior brother nodded firmly, maturing slowly through this life-and-death ordeal. Regaining his composure, he looked up at the scene before him.

"This is the Qionghua Sect, huh!"

Walking beside him, Senior Sister Zhao looked at the desolate former site of the Qionghua Sect and sighed, "Yes, this is the Qionghua Sect."
