This Journey to the West is so terrifying
Chapter 88 - 73: Taking Action
Once the number one faction, it has now become like this, how can one not sigh with emotion? And considering the situation we two find ourselves in, it’s hard not to feel sorrow welling up from within.
Luckily, being acquainted with life-and-death situations, we quickly gathered our emotions and ran towards the interior of Qionghua Sect, hoping to find a place to hide.
Not long after they left, a group from the Xueyi Sect arrived at that place. Looking at the sect standing silently on the great earth, a look of delight appeared in their eyes.
"Haha, we have found what we sought so effortlessly, without much ado. I never thought these two would actually lead us directly to the sect’s dwelling," the leader laughed heartily.
"Search carefully for traces. They are injured; with your abilities, it should not be hard to find them."
One person cast a spell, his eyes turning bright red, and soon pointed in the direction Senior Sister Zhao and her companion had gone: "They went that way."
A sinister smile appeared on the leader’s face as he said, "Chase after them, catch them, and that little wench is yours to deal with."
As soon as these words were spoken, a lustful light appeared in everyone’s eyes except for one person who, with some urgency, said, "Brother, I want that little one."
Everyone turned their heads to look at him, surprised at his peculiar taste.
Before long, they caught up to the two fugitives in front of an attic, and a look of pleasure appeared on their faces.
"You run quite fast, but unfortunately, the blood scent on you has revealed your location," the leader said proudly.
In his heart, he was already calculating: killing all these people from the Qinglian Sword Sect and calling out to the Qionghua Sect for their gains, he might very likely become an upper-echelon member of the Xueyi Sect and soar to the skies thereafter.
Senior Sister Zhao, seeing the lustful expressions on their faces, knew what fate awaited her, and she clenched her teeth, preparing to fight desperately.
Just as both parties were on the verge of confrontation, the tightly closed doors of the attic opened with a creak, and a young Daoist priest walked out, looking at them both with a surprised expression.
"Uh, have I come out at the wrong time? How about I go back in?" Lin Fang displayed a smile and slowly started walking back into the attic.
Yet in Senior Sister Zhao’s eyes flashed a glimmer of hope. The Xueyi Sect members did not know the depths of Lin Fang’s abilities, but she had seen what Lin Fang was capable of, a person that even wronged spirits gave a wide berth. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"Hold on, who are you, and why are you here?"
"Just an ordinary Taoist priest, a twist of fate, a twist of fate."
The people from the Xueyi Sect sized him up, wondering how such a severely underpowered Taoist could have infiltrated this place.
"Meeting here must be fate; may I ask for the Taoist priest’s distinguished name?" The leader of the Xueyi Sect changed his previously arrogant tone and asked very politely, though in his mind, he was counting all the renowned ascended masters in the Cultivation World, yet still couldn’t recall such a person.
"A nobody, not worth mentioning," Lin Fang continued to say with a smile.
As they conversed, the leader secretly signaled with his eyes, eventually deciding to keep Lin Fang. Only a Primordial Spirit True Person had the ability of rejuvenation, and without reaching this realm, such a youthful appearance was probably just a bluff at the moment.
The group stealthily spread out, blocking off all the roads that Lin Fang could take to leave.
"Attack!"
At that command, everyone struck together, thinking that even if the opponent was a master in disguise, they were confident in taking him down as long as he wasn’t a Primordial Spirit True Person in person.
The glow of spells arose before the attic, as countless spells mercilessly bombarded Lin Fang at the center.
The leader looked at the young Daoist priest standing still in the center and wondered to himself, "Could he be scared stiff? Why isn’t he fighting back?"
However, in the next second, they only felt darkness before their eyes, and the scenery shifted. Suddenly, they arrived at a mysterious place.
A great sun hung high in the sky, its scorching heat causing everyone’s skin to feel pain as the grand chanting sound reached their ears. Looking up, there was a Buddha Land not far away.
A Buddha statue sat cross-legged at the highest point, beneath which countless devotees sat cross-legged, reciting texts praising the Buddha, their faces exuding compassion and solemnity.
"Where is this place?" Someone from the Xueyi Sect nervously swallowed and asked, upon witnessing the scene before them.
But in the void, only the sound of chanting continued, and the rest was deadly silence. No one answered his question.
They didn’t have much time to think, though, as their arrival had already alarmed the Beast of Calamity, a demon beast starved and restless, awakened from its slumber upon sensing the presence of the Xueyi Sect members.
"Run!" The leader shouted, starting a desperate escape.
At the instant he saw the Beast of Calamity, he knew they were doomed. The creature he had never seen before, bearing an ominous aura and cold murderous intent, evoked profound fear in the depths of his heart.
"Ahh!" A scream rang out as a slower member was devoured in one bite by the Beast of Calamity. The taste of flesh and blood made it even more ferocious, beginning its hunt.
The survivors didn’t hesitate and hurriedly fled toward the place illuminated by the Buddha’s Light. After all, it was said that the Buddhist Sect was full of compassion and would, at the very least, not take their lives.
However, they didn’t notice that they had flown over a lake when suddenly a figure leaped out of the water—it was a gigantic red carp with its mouth wide open, charging at them.
"You damned beast, even you dare to bully me!" A member of the Xueyi Sect shouted angrily, chanting an incantation. A mass of blood congealed in front of him turning swiftly into a sharp sword that shot directly at the carp.
The Xueyi Sect members specialized in spells related to flesh and blood, and because of this, they generally had a strong restraint over normal demon beasts. Struck by this blood sword, the flesh of the target would melt into pus.
With the sword coming at it, the red carp simply opened its mouth slightly and, with the surge of mana, a stream of water shot out, destroying the sword.
"Monster!"
With mana, it naturally was a monster, casting off its Beast Nature and possessing intelligence. They could not match such a being.
But the Great Inspirational King had a reason for his actions—he wouldn’t leave empty-handed. In a flash, he was beside the nearest few people, flipping them into the lake. Before long, the water was dyed red with blood, and dark shadows began to rise to the surface again.
The few survivors who saw this scene turned pale, never imagining the monster’s appetite to be so astonishing. In just that short time, it had devoured several people in the lake, and by the looks of it, it seemed intent on keeping them there as well.
