Chapter 102: Li Xin and Miwei Village
Wang Qinghe and Yue looked ahead clearly. After descending the hilly mountain where the Baisheng Sect was located, Wang Qinghe finally found a small village.
The village only had around eighty houses.
If each house was occupied by four people consisting of a father, mother, and two children, then the total population of the village was only around three hundred and twenty people.
The number was surprisingly small, especially since Wang Qinghe could see that the village was surrounded by fertile land, farming fields, and terrain that was not too extreme.
"Is that the place?" Yue asked.
"Yes... that’s the village."
Wang Qinghe turned his head slightly and glanced at Yue with a probing gaze. "I’m going to become a mortal again and live like an ordinary mortal."
"I’ll do it alone. So, if you don’t mind, you can stay inside my dantian and wait there."
Yue fell silent for a moment. Her hand slowly rose and brushed against Wang Qinghe’s cheek.
The concern in her eyes was obvious from her expression.
"Are you sure you’ll be alright?" Yue asked.
"I’ll be fine."
After carefully staring at Qinghe’s face, Yue finally agreed and nodded obediently.
Her body transformed into a streak of golden spiritual qi light and passed through Wang Qinghe’s meridians before completely arriving inside his dantian.
Wang Qinghe opened his eyes, sensing Yue’s presence within his dantian sea.
With her there, she would be safe from the pursuit of other cultivators.
He descended from the sky at a low altitude and arrived at the hillside forest.
His feet stepped onto the forest ground as qi flowed toward his fingertips. He waved his hand to the side.
Golden qi light surrounded Wang Qinghe’s body as the golden particles slowly replaced the luxurious cultivator robes he was wearing.
The elegant cultivator robes transformed into ordinary mortal clothing.
They had no patterns, and the fabric colors were plain and dark instead of bright.
Both of his hands formed hand seals. He activated an aura and cultivation suppression technique, causing his body and appearance to completely resemble a mortal.
That way, other cultivators would not notice Wang Qinghe even if they used their cultivation vision.
After finishing his preparations, he walked down the hill and followed the dirt pathway.
The surrounding area was filled only with lush trees and green leaves.
Occasionally, Wang Qinghe noticed piles of wooden logs within the hillside forest.
He also saw people carrying the logs one by one on their shoulders.
A faint smile appeared on Wang Qinghe’s face. He continued walking down the hill through the dirt path, his destination being the village ahead.
Miwei Village.
Wang Qinghe read the signboard at the village entrance. The name Miwei Village was clearly carved into it.
He stepped inside and walked along the village’s main dirt road.
Several villagers moved about with their daily activities and greeted one another. Children ran around playing together while elderly men shouted at them.
A smile was clearly visible on Wang Qinghe’s face.
Mortal life felt far more relaxed and peaceful compared to the cultivator world filled with conflict.
"Get out!" a woman shouted.
She yelled while opening the door and shoving an old man out of a restaurant.
The middle-aged waitress looked furious as she continuously pointed at the old man lying helplessly on the ground.
"Aren’t you ashamed? You’re in debt again and still expect us to accept your ugly paintings?! Are you crazy, old man?!" the woman shouted.
Since the old man had fallen close to Wang Qinghe, he had no choice but to help him.
He assisted the old man to his feet and picked up the torn painting.
"Thank you, young man," the old man said softly.
Wang Qinghe nodded gently and allowed the old man to walk away from the restaurant.
The people on the street soon resumed their normal activities.
"Wait," Qinghe called out.
The waitress turned back and looked at him, "What is it?"
"That old man... how much does he owe your restaurant?" Wang Qinghe asked.
"The total is 235 taels," the woman answered.
Wang Qinghe reached into his pocket and took out several taels, though it was not enough to cover the old man’s full debt.
"I have 100 taels. At least his debt will be reduced," Qinghe said.
The waitress extended her hand and took the money from Wang Qinghe’s palm before carefully counting it.
"100 taels. Thank you. I’ll tell him that you helped pay part of his debt," the woman said.
"What’s your name?"
The people from Baisheng know my name is Wang Qinghe. If I tell her my real name, they’ll notice me easily.
"My name is... Li Xin."
"Alright, Li Xin. I’ll let him know later."
Before leaving, Wang Qinghe, now calling himself Li Xin, looked at the woman again. "I’m new to the village."
"I want to buy a house and start a business here," Li Xin said.
"A business?"
"What kind of business are you planning to open?" the woman asked.
"Most likely... a medicine shop."
The woman gasped in shock. She had never expected that the handsome man named Li Xin standing before her was actually a physician.
Her curiosity about his abilities immediately grew stronger.
"Interesting," the woman said, "You should go to the village chief’s house. It’s over there."
She pointed Li Xin toward the location of the village chief’s house. She explained that Li Xin needed permission from the village chief before buying a house or opening a business.
Li Xin raised both hands together politely, "Thank you, Auntie."
Li Xin walked away from the restaurant. The woman returned inside and was surprised to discover a young woman standing behind her, secretly listening the entire time.
"Ru’er? What are you doing here?" the woman asked. She was Zhou Ru’s mother, Lin Wei.
"I got curious about that man earlier. He mentioned something about a medicine shop, right?" Zhou Ru asked.
"Yes, and it’s interesting. Many elderly people in the village are always sick."
"I just hope his medicine can ease my back pain," Lin Wei replied while rubbing her sore waist.
A bright smile appeared on Zhou Ru’s face. The twenty-year-old woman with long black hair reaching her back began showing obvious excitement.
Lin Wei turned and noticed the change in Zhou Ru’s attitude. It was completely different from before.
"Do you want to know his name?" Lin Wei teased her daughter.
"Who?"
"Li... Xin."
"Li Xin. His name sounds nice, and his voice is gentle too. I’m sure he must be handsome, right?" Zhou Ru asked.
Lin Wei laughed softly and raised her hand to ruffle Zhou Ru’s black hair. "You’ll be able to see him later after he opens his medicine shop."
"Come help your mother clean these tables first."
