Chapter 108: News About Physician Li

Without anyone accompanying him, Li Xin headed alone into the forest located near the village lake. The forest was vast and filled with damp air, typical of a tropical forest.

Li Xin walked along the dirt trail while observing the surroundings with his cultivation eyes activated.

From the golden light radiating from his hands, he could easily identify the herbal ingredients growing wild throughout the forest.

He picked them one by one with great care, trying not to damage the herbs.

Although their quality was not particularly high, they were all Li Xin had in this place.

If he became careless, he would be forced to search elsewhere farther away, which would waste a great deal of time.

Li Xin straightened his body, his hand still holding a stalk of an ordinary-quality herbal flower.

Not only were there flowers, but also many herbs growing naturally thanks to the healthy ecosystem of the forest. Li Xin smiled. The beautiful and well-preserved environment helped him greatly.

He continued walking and gathering flowers, leaves, grass, and roots.

Every time he successfully collected one, he immediately stored it inside the wooden basket on his back until the amount became quite large, though not enough to completely fill the basket.

He glanced to the side and saw the sun beginning to set as faint orange light appeared at the edge of the horizon.

It was a simple sign that Li Xin had spent a very long time inside the forest.

The man began organizing his belongings and headed back toward the wooden house.

He had been away since morning until evening, so there was a good chance Grandpa Yi had already returned after selling his paintings.

Li Xin did not encounter any monsters or dangerous creatures while exploring the forest. His focus had only been on collecting herbs, and he had succeeded.

From ahead, the wooden house beside the lake became visible.

However, Li Xin narrowed his eyes sharply after noticing a crowd gathered there along with loud voices and noisy chatter.

As he stepped out of the forest, one of the men turned and pointed toward Li Xin.

"There’s Physician Li."

Everyone immediately turned and looked at Li Xin, the handsome black-haired young man who had successfully cured Tong Hong’s illness.

The news had already spread throughout the entire village.

Many people had begun coming to seek treatment from Li Xin, especially since Miwei Village had been without a physician for quite a long time.

This must be Tong Hong’s doing. He spread the news that I can cure illnesses.

It’s fine. I should simply accept it.

Li Xin raised both hands together and lowered his head toward them.

"Greetings."

"How may I help all of you?" Li Xin asked calmly.

"We came to ask you to examine our conditions," one of the middle-aged women replied while carrying a baby in her arms.

Li Xin nodded lightly and asked them to line up properly while he prepared himself. A total of seven people had come to Li Xin’s house, four women and three men.

Each of them suffered from different illnesses or discomforts. However, most of them were over thirty years old.

As he entered the front yard, Li Xin turned and saw Grandpa Yi already sitting near the fence, trying to sell his paintings to Li Xin’s patients.

"You’re back? Did many paintings sell?"

"None. I figured I’d come home instead. I never expected you to be the one who cured Tong Hong, boy Li."

"Just luck. Nothing special," Li Xin replied.

"Grandpa Yi, lend me your brush and paper."

Grandpa Yi handed the brush and paper to Li Xin. He sat on the wooden chair directly in front of the stone table and called each person over one by one.

The first was an elderly woman around sixty-six years old. Her hands and face were wrinkled, her back hunched, and she continuously complained about coughing and chest pain.

Li Xin asked her to extend her hand, and his fingers immediately rested against the pulse at her wrist.

By channeling a small amount of qi, Li Xin sent his golden spiritual qi through the old woman’s veins and meridians. His spiritual qi successfully located the source of the problem inside her body.

"There are small spots in your lungs. I’ll prepare a prescription for you, and you can come back tomorrow to collect the medicine," Li Xin explained.

"Thank you, Physician Li," the old woman said softly before leaving, escorted by her granddaughter who appeared younger than Li Xin.

Li Xin did not stop with the elderly woman. He continued examining the other patients and discovered the source of each illness or injury.

Just as he told the old woman, they were all instructed to return the next day to collect their medicine along with instructions on how to use it.

Grandpa Yi did not give up either. He continued offering his paintings and eventually managed to sell two out of his four paintings.

He felt happy because Li Xin’s business indirectly helped his paintings sell better.

Li Xin continued treating them politely and with a smile, writing prescriptions on paper and telling them to return tomorrow.

"You’re truly handsome and intelligent. I have a younger sister who isn’t married yet. Would you like to marry her?" one of the middle-aged women asked, offering her sister to Li Xin. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Thank you. However, I don’t have any plans to marry anytime soon."

"Alright then. But you must contact me immediately if you decide to marry. My younger sister is very beautiful, and I’m sure she’d suit you perfectly," the woman replied.

"I hope you recover quickly. Make sure you come back tomorrow to collect your medicine."

"I’ll come, Physician Li."

The middle-aged woman walked away, becoming the final patient to visit Li Xin’s wooden house.

All seven patients had now been treated, and seven sheets of paper containing prescriptions were stacked neatly on the table.

Li Xin had already gathered some of the herbal ingredients needed for those medicines from the forest. However, several ingredients still needed to be purchased from shops.

Li Xin leaned back in his chair, raising his hand to massage the space between his eyes and ease his headache.

Grandpa Yi noticed Li Xin’s condition and came over carrying a bottle of alcohol from inside the house.

"You need to relax, boy Li."

Li Xin opened his eyes and saw Grandpa Yi pouring alcohol from a jug into a wooden cup. Li Xin chuckled softly and extended his hand forward.

"A physician drinking alcohol. That’s quite surprising," Li Xin said.

"No matter what, you’re still human. Relaxing is only natural. You’re not a cultivator," Grandpa Yi explained while sitting down across from Li Xin.

Li Xin lowered his head and focused on the alcohol inside the wooden cup.

"You’re right, Grandpa Yi. We shouldn’t waste moments like this."

"Now you understand what I mean, boy Li."
