Unrivaled Soldier in the City
Chapter 542 Two Tests
In an instant, Yao Wenwen knew she had been tricked.
However, before she could even speak, Lin Kuang had already opened the car door and gotten out, a beaming smile on his face.
Waving his hand, he said with a grin, "Bye-bye, Beauty Yao. See you next time."
Seeing this, Yao Wenwen was so angry her chest heaved violently. "Bastard, go to hell!" she shouted, but it was no use.
Lin Kuang simply turned with a smile and walked into the courtyard, leaving an infuriated Yao Wenwen to drive off, huffing angrily.
When he got home, the old man was still sunbathing.
Lin Kuang briefly considered asking the old man about the Xu Family, but he dismissed the thought as soon as it arose. If the old man had wanted to tell him, he would have done so already. Since he hadn’t mentioned it, it was clear he didn’t intend to speak of it now.
With that in mind, Lin Kuang went to stand behind the old man and, without a word, quietly began to massage his shoulders.
The old man said nothing, but a faint smile graced his wrinkled face.
When the old man went to his room to rest, Lin Kuang returned to his own room and began his Cultivation with a clear mind. After all, he was scheduled to enter Dragon Front tomorrow, and he naturally needed to be prepared.
He continued his Cultivation until evening, only stopping to have dinner. Afterward, Lin Kuang once again sank into a deep state of Cultivation.
The night passed without incident. The next morning, Lin Kuang woke up early, washed up, and then accompanied the old man on a walk in the courtyard.
After breakfast, Lin Kuang left with his father, Lin Guodong, in a car headed toward the military district in Yanjing. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Sitting in the car, Lin Kuang’s expression was calm. He was very confident about joining Dragon Front.
"Entering Dragon Front requires passing two tests," Lin Guodong stated calmly from beside him. "The first is dodging steel balls in a dark room. You’ll be blindfolded and must last for thirty seconds to pass. The second test is to hold your own against the Dragon Front captain for three minutes. If you pass both, you can become a member of Dragon Front."
Lin Kuang listened earnestly. After his father finished, he nodded. "I understand, Father. I will succeed."
"Mhm, I have confidence in you, but don’t be careless. These two tests are not easy," Lin Guodong said with a smile.
"I understand, Father," Lin Kuang replied seriously.
Lin Guodong nodded and fell silent, and Lin Kuang also sat quietly in the car.
In less than half an hour, the car entered the Yanjing military district. It passed through the gates unobstructed, with no one stopping it.
They drove all the way to an office building before the car came to a smooth stop. Lin Guodong and Lin Kuang both got out.
Looking at Lin Kuang, Lin Guodong said flatly, "Come on, follow me inside."
Lin Kuang nodded and followed his father into the building.
The two of them walked one after another into a room. Lin Guodong took out an ID-like card and placed it on a scanner next to a door, which then slid open. Lin Kuang watched with curiosity. He had never known this office building contained such a device.
When the door opened, Lin Kuang saw the space inside wasn’t large. It looked just like an elevator.
"Let’s go," Lin Guodong said, stepping inside.
Lin Kuang followed his father into the elevator without asking any questions.
Lin Guodong opened a hidden panel, pressed a button, and the elevator began to descend rapidly.
Lin Kuang watched with a calm expression, but he couldn’t help feeling a surge of excitement. The thought of soon meeting the members of Dragon Front made his heart race. After all, this was the nation’s most powerful force.
After about ten seconds, the elevator stopped. The doors opened, and Lin Guodong and Lin Kuang walked out one after the other.
At the elevator exit, two soldiers holding guns stood guard.
What shocked Lin Kuang was that these two guards were extremely powerful. Even he wasn’t certain he could defeat them. Just the guards are already such powerful warriors? Are they members of Dragon Front? he thought in shock.
"Sir!" the two guarding soldiers saluted.
Lin Guodong nodded and walked past them with Lin Kuang.
"They are official members of Dragon Front. Pretty strong, aren’t they?" Lin Guodong said with a smile, glancing at his son.
"Yes, very strong," Lin Kuang replied seriously. "Perhaps even stronger than me."
"The stronger ones are yet to come," Lin Guodong said with a smile.
The two walked through a long corridor and arrived at an office. Stopping, Lin Guodong knocked gently on the door. "Captain Lin, I’ve brought him."
"Mm. Please come in, General Lin," a man’s voice replied from inside.
Lin Guodong glanced at Lin Kuang, then opened the door and walked in. Lin Kuang naturally followed.
Inside the office, a man in camouflage sat quietly in his seat. He was about forty years old, with a cold, expressionless face and a majestic aura.
Looking at the seated man, Lin Zhan, Lin Guodong said calmly, "Captain Lin, this is the Lin Kuang I told you about. He’s now qualified to apply to join Dragon Front."
Hearing this, Lin Zhan turned his head and gave Lin Kuang a brief glance before nodding. "Mm. Indeed, he’s qualified. Come with me."
With that, Lin Zhan stood, turned, and walked away, showing no particular deference to Lin Guodong despite his rank as a general.
Lin Guodong didn’t mind and followed him out, with Lin Kuang close behind.
A few moments later, the three of them arrived at another door.
Lin Zhan handed Lin Kuang a black blindfold, his tone cold. "Put this on. Last thirty seconds inside, and you’ll pass the first test."
Lin Kuang nodded, since his father had already explained the rules. He took the black cloth, tied it over his eyes, and secured it behind his head.
Lin Zhan opened the door for him. "You can go in now."
"Yes, sir," Lin Kuang replied, stepping into the room. Lin Zhan promptly shut the door firmly behind him.
Looking at Lin Kuang through a large glass window, Lin Zhan said softly, "It’s been over a decade since I last saw this kid, huh?" His eyes held a hint of affection.
Lin Guodong nodded. "Mhm, it’s been almost twenty years." As he spoke, his gaze toward Lin Zhan revealed a touch of apology. "My apologies. It’s my fault you haven’t seen your nephew in so many years."
"It doesn’t matter," Lin Zhan replied, his tone calm once more. "I’ll be able to see him from now on."
