Chapter 548: Chapter 548 Golden Cicada Shedding

Nakagawa Dahui’s face was grim with fury. He hadn’t expected the man disguised as an Empire soldier to be so powerful, capturing him so quickly.

"You damn Chinese," Nakagawa Dahui said grimly. "I’m telling you, even if you capture me, you won’t escape!"

"Shut up!" With that, Lin Kuang’s fist shot out, burying itself in Nakagawa Dahui’s stomach.

The powerful blow nearly shattered his internal organs. In an instant, Nakagawa Dahui doubled over like a cooked shrimp, blood spurting from his mouth. Lin Kuang’s punch had nearly killed him!

"Another word out of you and I’ll kill you," Lin Kuang said coldly. A terrifying killing intent radiated from him, creating an incredibly horrifying aura.

Although Nakagawa Dahui believed Lin Kuang wouldn’t actually kill him, the aura radiating from the man made him feel as if he were plunging into Hell, filling his heart with terror.

"Tell your men to get out of the way," Lin Kuang commanded.

Hearing this, Nakagawa Dahui wanted to act tough, but for the sake of his own life, he ordered his men to part, clearing a path for Lin Kuang.

"Go bring that vehicle over here," Lin Kuang said indifferently, glancing at Mu Wan beside him.

Mu Wan nodded and drove a jeep over from a few dozen meters away.

Lin Kuang dragged Nakagawa Dahui into the jeep, and Mu Wan sped away. Seeing this, the Island Country soldiers scrambled into their own vehicles and gave chase. Lin Kuang watched them with a cold laugh and told Mu Wan to speed up.

Mu Wan complied, slamming her foot on the accelerator. The jeep shot forward, its speed surging.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang glanced at Nakagawa Dahui. "Now, I’ll send you on your way!"

As he spoke, Lin Kuang’s hand tightened, instantly crushing Nakagawa Dahui’s throat. The man died on the spot.

Nakagawa Dahui died with his eyes wide open, staring fixedly at Lin Kuang. He couldn’t believe Lin Kuang would actually kill him, yet he had.

After killing Nakagawa Dahui, Lin Kuang shoved his corpse out of the vehicle.

"Lin Kuang, where to next?" Mu Wan asked, glancing at him.

Lin Kuang showed Mu Wan the contact’s address. "To this location. But first, we need to shake off these tails."

"Okay," Mu Wan nodded. With that, she sharply turned the steering wheel, sending the jeep onto a side road and speeding away.

The Island Country soldiers following them naturally saw Nakagawa Dahui’s body. Some of them loaded it into a vehicle to return to headquarters, while the rest continued their pursuit of Lin Kuang and Mu Wan.

"Wan’er, you keep driving. I’ll meet you at the next intersection. I’m going to go get another car," Lin Kuang said to Mu Wan.

"Alright, be careful," Mu Wan replied.

Lin Kuang nodded, jumped out of the moving jeep, and vanished into a side street in a flash. The Island Country soldiers who arrived moments later didn’t see him jump. Meanwhile, Lin Kuang found a random car, pried open the door, and hot-wired it. He drove to another intersection to rendezvous with Mu Wan.

When Mu Wan reached the designated spot, she bailed out of her jeep, which she had rigged to continue hurtling forward on its own. Lin Kuang and Mu Wan waited quietly as the Island Country vehicles sped past one after another. Once all the cars had passed, Mu Wan slipped into Lin Kuang’s vehicle.

"A pleasure working with you," Lin Kuang said with a smile. It had been a long time since they had been on a mission together, but their teamwork was still as seamless as ever.

"Likewise," Mu Wan replied with a grin, looking very happy.

Lin Kuang drove away from the street, heading calmly toward the contact’s house.

"How have you been this past year?" Mu Wan asked, looking at Lin Kuang’s face, her beautiful eyes tinged with apology.

"I’ve been alright, for the most part," Lin Kuang replied with a smile. "Though, the period right after I heard you had died was a very dark time for me. An old friend talked me through it, and I managed to recover over that year. What about you? It must have been tough, being a spy here all this time, right?"

"It was bearable," Mu Wan said with a smile. "The hardest part was not being able to tell you anything."

Thinking back on the past year, Mu Wan recalled the incredibly difficult ordeal. But for her country, she knew she had to do it.

"Well, it’s alright now. Once this mission is over, you can return to Yanjing, and we’ll be able to see each other every day," Lin Kuang said cheerfully, in a great mood.

"Yeah, it’ll be so good to go back to our own country," Mu Wan said with a hint of weariness. "Having to be so careful every single day here... it’s really an unpleasant feeling."

"Well, it’s over now," Lin Kuang said, reaching out to take her small hand. "Things will be better from here on out." They looked at each other and shared a smile.

They had known each other since they were children. After so long, some things didn’t need to be said; they both understood what was in each other’s hearts.

At that moment, an emergency meeting was underway at the Island Country’s military headquarters. With General Nakagawa Dahui dead, command temporarily fell to Nakagawa Nagakawa, who was acting as the supreme commander.

"Notify the police department and have them lock down all major transportation arteries in Tokyo. At the same time, mobilize our own people for a city-wide search. Bring back anyone suspicious for questioning. Also, have the elite units and the Ninja squad stand by. I may have use for them shortly."

Nakagawa Nagakawa’s expression was grim as he spoke, his eyes flashing with murderous intent. Nakagawa Dahui was his older brother.

"Now, execute these orders immediately!" he commanded the officers in the emergency meeting room.

The group responded in unison and quickly moved to carry out his commands. Sitting in his office, Nakagawa Nagakawa made a call to one of his subordinates, ordering the elite unit and the Ninja squad to assemble. He then left the office.

By this time, Lin Kuang and Mu Wan had already arrived at the contact’s location. It would take time for the police to receive their orders and establish a city-wide blockade; it couldn’t be done in an instant. Lin Kuang and Mu Wan had managed to reach the manor within that brief window.

"Let’s get out, Wan’er," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he stopped the car.

Mu Wan nodded, and the two of them exited the vehicle. When they reached the manor’s entrance, Lin Kuang rang the doorbell. A moment later, a middle-aged man came out.

"Who are you?" the middle-aged man asked with a frown.

"Mr. Yu, hello. I’m from Dragon Front," Lin Kuang replied, looking at the man, Yu Chong. He then handed the card Lin Zhan had given him to Yu Chong.

Yu Chong took the card and examined it. His expression immediately grew serious. He quickly opened the gate and said, "You two, please, come in quickly."
