Valerian, The Legendary
Chapter 398: Landing A Bride.
Valerian and Fortuna reached the eastern shores quickly, and the young man said, ’Your speed has increased a lot. It only took us half a day to reach here.’
Fortuna replied, ’Did you think I will not work on myself in your absence? I was angry but not insane. I channeled all my time into perfecting my skills. What you called speed was teleportation magic.’
Valerian was surprised and asked, ’What are you saying? How does that even work?’
Fortuna replied, ’The void is made of magic too. It has all seven elements instilled within it, just like us. Suppose you can find the balance of these elements and sync your body with them. You become one with the void. The vibrating mana particles will shoot you through a tunnel of the void, and when you get out of sync, it will eject you.’
Valerian raised his brows and asked, ’What’s the catch?’
Fortuna clicked her tongue and answered, ’Depending on the object’s size, it will consume mana inside the body. For example, if I want to move through the tunnel, half of my mana will be gone in just a few seconds.’
Valerian asked, ’What is the range of this spell?’
Fortuna sighed, ’A thousand Kilometers.’
Valerian almost jumped and exclaimed, ’Are you kidding me? Why are you sighing? Is this not good news? You can cover an entire continent with this spell.’
While flying, Fortuna suddenly made a loop and said, ’Why do you think I performed the spell here, in the middle of nowhere? This place has the simplest seven elemental constitutions, and despite the distance, the mana consumption is the same.’
Valerian grabbed her scales and stabilized himself. He rebuked, ’You could have told me this without a stunt.’
Fortuna chuckled and said, ’We have reached.’
The young man looked down and found an azure-scaled dragon on the shores. He said, ’Why do I feel like Lady Gale has turned slimmer?’
Fortuna nodded and said, ’She also advanced and developed the skill that allows her to move faster. It is not the teleportation spell but her innate talent.’
Valerian nodded, and Fortuna landed ashore. Gale bowed her head and said, "Greetings, Your Majesty." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Fortuna nodded, and Valerian said, "Long time no see, your grace."
Gale replied jovially, "Long time no see, Master Valerian."
Fortuna asked, "Gale, where is everyone else?"
Gale replied, "Your Majesty, the human forces have shifted to the central region for better governance. You have not been here for a year now."
Fortuna nodded, but she turned her head in embarrassment. Valerian asked, "Your Grace, do you know where my second brother, Prince Vertex is?"
Gale nodded, and a chuckle sounded from her mouth. The dragons did not use human speech. They used mana to shake the bones inside their throats. The vibration resounded in the surroundings and sounded like human speech to everyone else. The principle was similar to the collar chain Valerian used.
Gale said, "He has taken over the governance of the southern part of the continent where he is constantly dealing with the issues of irrigation and civil disputes with the help of the tribe chief of the region."
Valerian nodded and asked, "What is the name of this tribe?"
Gale responded, "This tribe is called Aztonia. These people are very ferocious warriors, but they are the best allies one can have if you do not bear any ill will. They will lay down their lives."
Valerian nodded and silently turned to look at Fortuna, who said, "You do not have to look at me. I am tired. I will rest. You can go there with Gale."
Gale said, "Master Valerian, I can take you there in a minute. It will not take long."
Valerian was surprised and exclaimed, "Your grace, it seems your innate skill has developed a lot."
Gale chuckled at his reaction and said, "You flatter me. I was inspired after Her Majesty developed that spell."
Valerian nodded forcefully and said, "Your Grace, do not compliment her so much. She is already very arrogant."
Gale wanted to laugh but sensed glaring eyes locked on them and said, "We should hurry, Master Valerian. I still have to guard the place."
Valerian quickly jumped on her back, and the Dragon flapped her wings. Fortuna snorted and said, "Hmph, coward."
...
Gale and Valerian were moving through the clouds so quickly that Valerian had to channel his mana shield to ensure he did not fly away from the wind flow.
Just like Gale had promised, it took them only a few minutes. Her innate talent was that of speed; thus, she was even faster than Fortuna, and that too without the expanse of mana. Her body was so streamlined that she would appear like an arrow shooting through the void if people did not pay attention.
Valerian and Gale landed outside a city, and the Young Man jumped off her back. He sighed and said, "Your Grace, please use a windshield next time, or your companion will be left behind."
Gale was stunned and bowed, saying, "I will be mindful next time, Master Valerian."
Valerian turned and asked, "This is the city where they live?"
Gale nodded and said, "I shall head back to help her Majesty. She is weak."
Valerian suddenly thought of something and asked, "Your Grace, why are you guarding that empty location?"
Gale said, "Master Valerian, Her Excellency, The Pointiaf informed us to guard that place. As long as that place has the energy of a guardian of the world, the portal from the demon world will not open easily."
Valerian nodded, then said, "You mean to say that is the spot where the demon invasion will begin?"
Gale nodded and said, "I shall go. Her Majesty is alone."
Valerian wanted to ask a few more things when the Dragon left him in the after-wash of her wind flap. The young man coughed up and fanned the dust away before he turned to look at the city gate, and after casting a few spells to groom himself, he approached the gates.
The people at the gates were soldiers from the western alliance; they had been relocated here to watch over law and order. Well, they did not have much choice after Fortuna directly ravaged the entire lobby of loyalists. She killed the people but let go of those who slandered and denounced Tyrant.
However, still, the death toll was significant. The guards saw a dragon earlier, and now a young man was walking towards them. They knew who this person was. As Valerian got closer, they all knelt but found a gust pressing them off the ground.
Valerian placed his hands behind his back and said, "You do not have to kneel now. Will one of you lead me to the Second Prince of Lumen?"
The guards replied, "Yes, Your Highness."
Valerian nodded, and one of the guards rushed ahead to inform the people of his arrival. The young man did not bother and observed the city. This place was simply a marvel. The houses were made of stone, but they gave a sturdy feeling. They all had different outlay, as if the city was not planned.
However, when the young man thought about it, he found that the situation was not so simple. This city was made to aid the citizens in hiding. The angles were so tricky that the natives could kill the intruders easily.
The more Valerian thought about it, the more surprised he became. To think there was such a genius designer in this world.
As the young man moved forward, he found many people gathered around the ground. He became interested and approached the place. The crowd was cheering with enthusiasm. Valerian was tall enough to see through this gathering of human heads.
A lady dressed in soft armor was fighting a soldier. What surprised Valerian was that he could not sense any mana or battle aura from the girl, but the soldier, apparently a warrior, was panting. The girl was moving around this guy like a cat.
Her movements were so nimble that she did not leave a complete footprint on the ground. Valerian was interested in this lady. He saw that the soldier covered his sword with a layer of the battle aura, increasing the weapon’s sharpness and damage capabilities.
On the other hand, the girl was using a sword that was five feet long, and the blade was seven inches wide. Even Valerian had to gulp when he saw this blade. The weight of this thing must be enormous, yet the girl was moving around with this thing on her body as if it weighed nothing.
This shocked Valerian, and he could not help but recall what Fragrantia said. He wondered if this girl was the one Vertex liked when a voice sounded beside him, "Would you like to play too?"
Valerian turned his head and found a pretty girl. He asked, "What is this game?"
The lady replied, "Landing a bride."
The young prince could not help but open his eyes wide and then he burst into a peal of laughter.
