Valerian, The Legendary
Chapter 397: Demons.
The Pointiaf told the people what was happening, and the news she delivered shocked everyone. Valerian was petrified and asked, "Your Excellency, what is the threat?"
The Pointiaf said, "We will face a demon invasion."
The crowd could not hold back, and they all began to raise questions, and the clutter made Valerian furrow his brows. Fortuna said, "Silence."
Her voice was calm but no less than a magic spell. Everyone fell silent. Valerian asked, "Your Excellency, the situation has escalated if the influence of Demons can create a Tyrant Immortuous for us. Then what they are capable of doing is not something I can imagine. Please tell us as much as you know.
If people from both kinds, the humans and the magical, are to face this threat, then we need to stand together. No more hiding secrets and no more diplomatic approaches. Can you all promise that?"
The Pointiaf nodded and said, "I completely agree with you. My knowledge of this situation will be compiled and delivered to all the dignitaries here. All magical people have one specialty to them. Vita made us this way to fight the threats that will come at us."
Valerian nodded and said, "Your Excellency, when can we expect the journal to be delivered?"
The Pointiaf replied, "The bloomkin are compiling it as we speak. However, I worry."
Fortuna said, "Please tell us, Your Excellency."
The tiny flower looked at the visage of the people gathered on the peak and said, "I do not think that gifted will be enough to face this situation. We must train the commoners to defend themselves or escape danger if faced with it.
Demons are cunning creatures, and they do not fight with honor. They have no rules of warfare. We cannot stick to the rules of fighting also."
Suddenly, an old man stood up and asked, "Your Excellency, if we do not stick to these rules, the gifted people will go on and raise chaos throughout the world.
Also, these rules were dictated by the gods. How can we humans get out of them?"
The Pointiaf nodded and said, "The rules made by Vita can only be changed by Vita herself."
The people turned to look at the new Saintess. Solaris was the new saintess and had the highest understanding of Vita.
She stood up from her chair and said, "The rules were made to keep the people from fighting within themselves and not to stop them from uniting against a common enemy."
The people were surprised and realized what Solaris said was true. Valerian nodded with a faint smile. Having a wise person always eases up the situation. Fortuna said, "Since the rules are not stopping us from fighting the incoming threat. Can you people get on board with the decision of united resistance?
If someone wishes to go and join the demons like Tyrant Immortuous, that is fine too, but if you are caught, you will not get the advantage of an immortal body. Quiet the contrary, you will be tortured till you beg for death, and still, I will not allow you to die."
The people shivered. They recalled how Fortuna ravaged the army on the eastern continent after the war. The warning was not for the people at the summit today but for those who would spread the word about this gathering.
Valerian patted Fortuna on her shoulder, saying, "The times ahead will be tough. The first thing we have to deal with is the discrimination. Before we face the demons from outside, we need to deal with the demons that reside inside us."
He paused, to the summit’s center, and said, "When I was a child, I read it in a book. We all have the good and the bad residing inside our hearts. It is up to us which one we want to be."
The people began to talk to each other, and Libra stood up from his chair. He said, "The Lumen Empire will do our best to reach a common ground with the people."
Followed by this, the people all gradually stood up and pledged that they would do their best to fight the discrimination. The people began to raise all sorts of issues, and suddenly, Valerian said, "I think, rather than talking on a summit, it would be better if we could go back to the people and get things done."
The people nodded, and at midnight, the Pointiaf told Valerian something that rattled him a bit. However, he did not say anything about it.
...
Two days later, Valerian found that the citizens were panicked. He visited Fragrantia’s study to read the reports. The Empress said, "I was about to call you."
The young man nodded and said, "I heard from the maids, so do you need me to deal with this?"
Fragrantia shook her head and said, "This is for Azula to deal with. She has become very efficient in managing people. As for you, you are headed to the Eastern Shores. Your second brother knows you have returned, and he needs help winning his bride."
Valerian scrunched his nose and said, "Is it necessary?"
Fragrantia nodded and said, "It is; that lady comes from the region famous for warriors. They are agile, ferocious, and as best as they can get. Also, that lady is not a warrior. She is not gifted, yet she bested Vertex in a duel. Now, do you think this matter is important enough for you to go and get him a bride?"
Valerian was surprised and said, "Fine, I will go. Also, I think it is about time I get a bride."
Fragrantia stopped her work, raised her head to look at the young man, and said, "Fine, but you are not going to live in Centaur after marriage."
The young man gaffed and said, "Maa! That is unfair. You know she is the Empress. How can I ask her to move here."
The lady sighed and said, "That was a test for you, and you failed. Defending your wife before you got married. Huh, Flos, this child is just like other men."
Valerian held his face and said, "Does that mean His Excellency defended you the same way?"
Fragrantia was surprised by this sudden comeback and wanted to rebuke him, but the young man rushed out of the room.
...
The next day, Valerian asked Fortuna to take a trip to the eastern continent with him, and on the way there, they left Valerie with Morgana so that the Centaur nation could ease up about the concept of beastmen living with them.
Solaris also cooperated and sent several beastmen to live in different cities and places. On the way to the Easter Continent, Valerian found that the situation of the Valkyrian empire had improved tremendously. The journey bought him lots of surprises.
....
Meanwhile, Azula had Shiba, Captain, and Viney attend training camp. They were newcomers to this world, but the skills they showed shocked even the Grandmasters. They did not expect this group of three people could handle the pressure of facing an entire battalion of troops.
The soldiers were skeptical but stunned when they saw how the people were dealing with them. Shiba was exceptional with her sword, and Captain defended the two ladies with his shield.
The ladies in the military were all gifted, and common women were not allowed to join the forces in the name of security. Azula realized why Valerian wanted these three to train the common soldiers.
...
While all this was happening, Fragrantia had sent the word that the experts from Avarium, who fought alongside Valerian, would teach the common soldiers of all the interested nations. They received a lukewarm response, but when the guest ambassadors saw the skills of the three. They sent back the word.
The execution of strategy, the trap set, and the control of the overall situation was something these people had never seen. The common troops were to fill in the numbers. The real strength lay among the gifted.
This battle awareness will make things easy for them in the future trouble. So, more and more people decided to send over their forces.
...
A man sat on a black throne with his chin clasped in his fingers. He was looking at the few men leaning before him. The people in this room had stark appearances. Some had horns, and some had wings. However, they all looked ninety percent similar to humans.
The man on the throne looked down at the rows of people and said, "You all think invading Vita is easy, right? How about I give one of you a chance? Since you think you are all mighty, kill the guy who ruined our plan. If you fail, you shall die, and then let me handle things my way, or I will kill you all, and a new generation of courtiers will follow me without objection."
A person with buffalo horns asked, "What if I succeed?"
The man on the throne said, "Anything you want."
"Fine, your majesty Ombre, be ready to evict the throne, " said the Buffalo horn man leaving the throne room.
Ombre smiled and said, "I await your victorious return, Demon General Sakar."
