Villain Extra: Rogue Reader
Chapter 29: Confession Spell
[+5 Villain Points!]
Ray received 5 villain points for his earlier action.
’Tsk, only 5 points?’ He clicked his tongue in disdain.
He had anticipated a bit more, but knowing that the system was against him, it was obvious that the points were no longer earned easily.
The first few points he gained were definitely a bait and a trap to deceive him into thinking it was easy to earn points.
"Do you suspect someone was behind the refugees?" While he was in his own world, a voice suddenly echoed.
"Anyone could tell at a glance." Ray turned to Chloe and sneered. "You’re telling me these refugees have never stumbled across other people’s carriages before? They barely even have any injuries on their bodies despite their ragged appearance."
When he first spotted these refugees, he had already determined they were brought forth by someone else.
And the reason why he prevented Jake from killing was that whoever was behind it would definitely make a big scene if people from the Carrion Household openly killed the refugees.
Who cares if they were in the wrong and tried to rob their carriage?
Maybe if it were normal times, nobody would say anything.
But in times of crisis such as this, those so-called laws and moral codes would quickly clash with each other.
"So what do you plan to do?" Chloe inquired. She took a look outside through the windows. "If this isn’t resolved fast, it will only fester."
’Yeah, no shit, Sherlock!’ Ray seriously wanted to say those aloud, but he highly doubted she would understand his meaning anyway.
"What else besides fishing for more information and waiting for the scouts to return?" His chin leaned on his palm, and he yawned.
To do things without any form of planning was foolish.
One could only do those if they were strong enough to destroy any ploys and schemes.
Unfortunately, he was not strong enough.
’Sigh, what kind of villain is this weak?’ He exhaled softly. Other villains were strong, alright. But their brain just had a few screw loose and played their cards terribly.
Had he been the villain with overpowering abilities from the start, then he could have long completed this novel world.
Sometime later, a guard approached the carriage and reported.
"Young Master, the refugees confessed that they were sent by someone to rob us in exchange for food."
"Hoh, so for some food, they decided to come and rob the nobles for food?"
Ray nearly cracked up with laughter. There was a limit to how much these people were underestimating his intelligence.
"Use a confession spell." His expression darkened and commanded. A confession spell was rarely used because it compelled the person to obey.
The chance of the person being crippled after use was high.
Due to the severity, the confession spell was only designed for heinous criminals who refused to speak after many interrogations.
"You prevented Jake from killing them earlier, and now you planned to use a confession spell on them?" Chloe raised an eyebrow.
"That’s right." Ray nodded. These refugees had nothing to do with him anyway.
Why should he sympathize with them?
Moreover, he highly doubted these refugees were that ignorant as not to understand the consequences of robbing a noble carriage.
Even if the carriage they robbed today wasn’t his but that of other nobles, they were destined to die.
Since he had no relationship with these people and he was no hero either, he didn’t care for their lives and deaths.
Cruel?
Coldhearted?
Maybe, but so what?
Kindness was never something one should expect, but rather one should be grateful when gifted.
"What are you still standing there for?" Ray snapped at the dazed guard.
"Start with the first person I’ve interrogated and use a confession spell on them."
The guard hesitated for a moment, their eyes subtly glancing at Chloe.
"Don’t look at me." Chloe shrugged. "Father has made him the leader in command. I have no interest in interfering with the decision."
"Hey, keep stalling, and I’ll make you become a woman at a brothel." Ray threatened.
Sure enough, the guard shivered in fear and immediately saluted.
Compared to his precious manhood over the lives of these refugees, the guard knew exactly what to choose.
In the blink of an eye, the refugees began shrieking and screaming in agony under the effect of the confession spell.
"If you planned on doing this from the start, why didn’t you just let Jake do the dirty work?" Chloe inquired.
"Do you think everyone knows who I am?" Ray pointed at himself and smirked.
Instantly, Chloe understood his meaning.
Although Ray was accepted into the household under Marquis Robert’s order, there hadn’t been any official party to celebrate the event.
In other words, the actions of Ray couldn’t be considered to be officially from the Carrion Household.
That was the difference between him and Jake.
Jake was long recognized, whereas he was different.

’Ahh, now this is true music to my ears~’ Ray smiled in bliss.
’What a lunatic...’ Chloe thought to herself. The outside was filled with tears and screams, but here he was, smiling like a devil in joy.
But then again, she approved of such action.
As for the criticism that might follow, she would gladly give them a chance to witness her swordplay.
By then, who else would want to complain?
A few minutes later, the guard promptly returned with valuable information.
"Young Master, with the confession spell, these people were all threatened by a mysterious group of people. Their families were all captured amidst the monster tide and were ordered to stop us from heading to Moonrock Town."
’Stop us from heading to Moonrock Town? This is the prologue of Lord of Magic, and you’re telling me to stop? I don’t care who you are, but you’re dead meat for ruining my rogue reader’s life.’ Ray stretched his body and made a slicing neck motion.
These refugees were probably implanted with curses.
It was better off to kill them now than let anyone escape with such curses that could bring calamity.
