Chapter 41: Primordial Guild Seed of Chaos

One ordinary day at Twilight Academy, Vyral sat in his chair, carefully listening to every word that came out of the professor’s mouth.

Most of the other students did the same, though there were still a few who barely paid any attention to the lecture at all.

Doran, seated next to Vyral, was already asleep on the table, a string of drool hanging from his mouth.

Meanwhile, Arthea could barely control herself, stealing glances at Vyral throughout the entire lesson. Whenever Vyral noticed her gaze, she would instantly look away, her ears turning red. Actually, she was training herself to resist the charm of Vyral’s beautiful eyes through her ability to see true souls. She hated how easily she fell for handsome men, so Vyral made for perfect practice.

While everyone else completely ignored him, none of them could see his true soul. After all, the body he inhabited was that of an goblin.

’’I don’t want to go back to the real world. The feeling of everyone staring at me is quite annoying.’’

Soon, the lesson came to an end, and Vyral, Doran, and Arthea began discussing their plan to travel to the Gaul Continent.

However... At that moment, a member of the Phoenix Guild suddenly wanted to meet him.

It was meant to be a private meeting, but Doran was allowed to join because the man was his uncle – Fred Todd. With Vyral’s permission, it wasn’t a big deal.

As soon as Fred revealed the purpose of the meeting and handed Vyral an invitation to join the Phoenix Guild, Doran nearly screamed in surprise.

’’W-WHAT?!’’

’’I-IMPOSSIBLE!’’

Vyral frowned and looked at Doran, who was still yelling and grumbling with obvious jealousy.

’’Isn’t it normal?’’

Fred calmly nodded.

’’Of course not. It’s especially unusual for the Phoenix Guild, considering it’s the strongest guild.’’

He added,

’’To join the Phoenix Guild, you need to meet at least three conditions.’’

’’First, you must graduate from Twilight Academy with honors, yet only two or three students earn that distinction each year.’’

’’Second, you must be an Apostle.’’

’’Third, you must complete the challenge offered by the guild.’’ 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

He clicked his tongue. Indeed, he understood how difficult it was to join the Phoenix Guild. He had experienced it himself. Now, a mere Level 3 goblin with nothing to his name had suddenly received special treatment, which irritated him quite a bit.

It was completely unfair. He intended to report this matter to the Guild Master after his superior handed him this ridiculous command.

’’You skipped all three conditions that every candidate has to struggle for years to obtain.’’

Vyral rubbed his chin thoughtfully several times before replying.

’’I need some time to think about it. Can you give me a few days?’’

Doran and Fred widened their eyes at such a ridiculous answer. After all, anyone else would have accepted the invitation on the spot.

It was a dream opportunity for countless people, and Vyral’s attitude made Fred somewhat annoyed. It felt as though Vyral was downplaying something that many could only dream of.

He cleared his throat.

’’Are you sure, kid? An opportunity like this won’t come twice.’’

Despite his jealousy, Doran didn’t want Vyral to let such a golden opportunity slip away. Vyral was a scavenger with no background. If he joined the strongest guild, his future would be incredibly promising. Even Doran himself had benefited greatly from joining.

’’Vyral, don’t refuse.’’

’’Once you join, the seniors will help you climb up. Every month, rewards from the guild ranking competitions will be delivered straight to your [Inventory]. I’m very sure every single item will be at least Purple Grade. Your status in society will change completely—maybe even surpass mine.’’

’’Even Grey won’t be able to touch you anymore. Right now, he’s only a trainee member of the Phoenix Guild thanks to a few achievements. But you? You’ll start as an officer member, and you can order that bastard around whenever you want.’’

However, no matter how many sweet words Doran poured into Vyral’s ears, Vyral still refused to change his mind.

Fred rubbed the back of his head for a long moment before sighing.

’’A week... I’ll give you a week to decide.’’

That night, Vyral lay on his bed, lost in thought before eventually falling asleep.

As soon as the sun rose, Vyral, Doran, and Arthea departed for the Gaul Continent through a teleportation gate.

The moment Vyral opened his eyes and set foot on the new continent, a notification suddenly rang out in his ears.

[You have received a mission from the Chaotic Deity, Apostle.]

[Description]: Assist King Arthur in clearing Green Dungeon No. 2322.

[Reward]: Primordial Guild Seed of Chaos.

[Penalty]: The apocalypse shall descend, and the world will collapse.

Vyral stood rooted to the spot, blinking several times. He stared at the virtual screen before him. A moment later, a smile slowly spread across his lips.

’’I think I’ll refuse that invitation.’’

He felt very lucky that he hadn’t rushed to accept the invitation. He believed that with the Primordial Guild Seed of Chaos, his guild would become even greater than any other guild in the world. A guild with the freedom to do anything – he would be free, and no one could control him.

However, one of the difficulties of a newly established guild was recruiting members, and its initial strength would be quite weak.

Still, it wasn’t a big problem. He already had a few ideas in mind.

He would build the guild from scratch.

Doran frowned after hearing that. He wasn’t sure whether he had misheard or not.

’’What? What did you just say?’’

Vyral shrugged. At that moment, a few potential members had already come to mind.

’’Nothing.’’

Nearby, Arthea stood motionless, her eyes fixed on the distant land of Camelot, where darkness completely blanketed the kingdom. It was nothing like the Camelot she remembered – a beautiful land, a place worth living in.

She gently shook her head and returned to the group. With her current strength, there was nothing she could do. She would return once she had become stronger.

The guard assigned by Merlin to accompany Vyral’s group cleared his throat and said,

’’Follow me. We’re heading to the Hound Guild.’’
