What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?
Chapter 138: I’ll Teach You To Eat Dirt
The guy had his phone out and was holding it towards Ava as though it was a done deal that she would definitely accept his request and give him her number.
Honestly... I don’t even blame him for trying... You might have a next to zero chance of actually succeeding but for someone like Avatasia? It was probably worth a shot.
Ava smiled at him, her face partially shadowed by the brim of her hat as she eyed the guy who asked for her number.
"Ara? Are you interested in little old me? I’m flattered~ However, I’m afraid I have to tell you that my heart already belongs to someone else and I am not interested in anyone aside from him~"
As if to make sure that there was no question as to who she was referring to, she wrapped her hand around mine and hugged me tightly, leaning away from the guy.
He was obviously not amused by her reaction as he shifted his gaze to me, his brows furrowing slightly as he looked me up and down, clearly sizing me up.
As though coming to some kind of conclusion, he then turned back to Ava and gestured in my direction, "Are you serious? Someone like him? You deserve someone better than that."
Ava chuckled mirthlessly, "Oh my? I’m afraid it’s the contrary~ It is I who does not deserve someone like him, you see~ And I am not interested in you at all~"
The guy still did not give up even despite the obvious signs that showed that Ava was completely uninterested in him.
"Come on. You’re not a local here right? You would have so much fun hanging out with us instead of him. Just come with us and we will--"
"You know, she’s already told you that she’s not interested in you," I interrupted him, swirling my drink with a straw. "I admire your courage to step up to actually take your shot, but you should at least know when to cut your losses and also when it’s not possible to win, you know? Being able to take a rejection is also a part of being a man."
He scowled at me, "No one was talking to you."
"And no one asked you to come over to talk to us either but yet here you are. What’s your point?"
"You really don’t even know who you’re talking to, do you?"
I raised an eyebrow at him, "Should I? I would say you look like any other thug who has too much time on his hands and you’re trying too hard to compensate for something."
He took a step back and spread out his arms towards the side, prompting his cronies to step up beside him while cracking their knuckles menacingly.
"Are you really that stupid or something? Even if you don’t know me, surely you understand that your position isn’t great right? Why do you think it’s a good idea to run your mouth like that?"
I sighed, "Let me guess... You awakened some kind of power that is stronger than the average person and you’re using it to bully everyone around you because there hasn’t been a case of someone stronger than you appearing to stop you. Am I right?"
He snapped his mouth shut and glared at me, which was all I needed to see to know that I hit the nail right on the head.
I gestured towards him, "Listen, I’m quite generous. You can just turn around and leave and we can pretend this never happened... Or if you insist, we can step outside and I will let you experience what dirt tastes like?"
"Was that a threat?"
"Hmm... Not exactly. I have a little bit of future sight so I can kind of see the future. So what I’m doing is telling you a future that may or may not come to pass."
"Then did you predict this?!" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
He tried to deliver a sucker punch towards me but Dan had reached out his hand to catch it, stopping his fist from reaching me just a few inches away from my face.
I could have stopped him as well but I saw Dan move to defend me so I opted to let him deal with that instead.
The guy glared at Dan, as though offended that he would even protect me against him.
I stood up from the chair and jerked my head towards the entrance of the cafe, "Guess you made your choice. Let’s go then."
He pulled back his fist from Dan to shout at me, "Who the fuc--"
Before he could say out that word, I had spun around and delivered a smack across the side of his face, silencing him and everyone else around who had been observing from the side.
I scowled at him, "Do you not see that there are children here? You better watch your mouth."
He held his face in surprise, completely caught off guard by how I had managed to move in front of him to slap him across the face before he could even react.
His surprise quickly turned into rage however as he tried to take a swing at me.
I stepped back to avoid it, his fist flying through the space in front of me and mere inches away from my face.
Unperturbed, he tried a follow up punch with his other hand, only to be met with the same results.
I moved myself away from the table as he tried to punch me with an uppercut, which was not even close to hitting me and leaving him wide open.
I could have moved in and gotten past his guard to deliver a blow right then but instead, I chose not to capitalise on that opening and used that chance to move away from the table where everyone else was seated at.
Blinded by rage, the guy chased after me, this time just swinging his fists around in the air wildly as though thinking that him flailing around like that would guarantee a hit at the very least.
Obviously, that didn’t happen as I side stepped, ducked and blocked all the attacks that were being sent towards me, subtly leading him outside the cafe instead.
I saw his other cronies moving to try and help their boss but Dan had appeared in front of them with his arms crossed, looking just as imposing wearing those casual clothes of his as he was wearing full plate armour.
Most of them backed off just from seeing him step up towards them but there were a few brazen enough to try and attack him despite that.
I was thinking he would fight back but...
One of the goons punched him in the face and Dan did nothing to stop it from happening.
The reason became clear as Dan did not even move in the slightest and the person who tried to punch him let out a scream of pain instead, clutching at the wrist at the hand that was now broken.
Well... That’s what happens when you try to punch a tank I guess...
As for me, I managed to bait the guy out through the front door until we were both at the sidewalk and out of sight from the people inside the cafe.
The moment I was sure we were out of sight of the people inside the cafe, I dodged another punch from the guy before I stepped in to grab him by the neck and lifted him up.
He let out a choked gasp as he held onto my wrist, trying to wrench himself free but I did not budge.
I squeezed a little tighter and his eyes widened in fear, only just realising how screwed he was.
"I warned you, didn’t I? That if you were to continue, I would let you experience eating dirt yourself. So don’t say that I’m not a man of my word~"
He opened his mouth to protest but that was exactly what I was waiting for as I immediately slammed him down into the ground when he did so, making sure that a chunk of earth flew into his mouth and he was choking on it.
He struggled under me but I was clearly stronger than he was and I managed to keep him there for a good long while before I pulled him back up, the guy sputtering and choking on the earth that I forced him to taste.
"Now... Do you want to behave or do you want more of that?"
He spat out the remaining dirt in his mouth at me, which I saw coming from a mile away so I dodged it before shoving the guy back into the ground again.
This time, I held him there and made sure he stayed down by giving him a knock at the back of his head, causing his body to go limp.
I then dumped him at the side before returning back to rejoin the rest, right as the guy’s cronies came running out in a panic and looked back in fear.
They didn’t even bother picking up their unconscious boss...
Damn... What did you do to them, Dan?
