Chapter 152: My Room

There was a security console in front of the lift which I had to stand in front of so that it could scan me.

The console then gave a beep that recognised me as someone authorised to use the lift which prompted the doors to open, granting us access to it.

I stepped inside the lift alongside Ava, Kris and Maylene before the door closed shut and we ascended to the top floor of the tower.

It was only a short ride as it was just basically the next floor anyway which made me question if an elevator was even necessary here.

When we stepped out onto the next floor, I had to question if I had stepped out into a different world or something.

So the first thing that came to my notice was the fact that I stepped into the living room. The second thing I noticed was that there’s a tree in the centre of the room.

I was going to ask why there was a tree in the middle of the room when I realised that it wasn’t just the room but there were also planters that had various different plants all spread out throughout the rest of the room as well.

Before I could ask, I stopped myself when I realised something.

At first I thought it might have just been my imagination but I could feel the life energy permeating the room and flowing all around me.

What’s more, the energy concentration felt a lot more abundant than anything I’ve felt anywhere else.

Was that a coincidence or something by design?

When I stepped further in, the next thing I realised that this was a penthouse that was three floors in height with a central staircase at the far end of the room leading to the second and third floors.

The tree that I first saw was planted in the middle of the living room where several sofas were arranged behind it to form a rectangle facing a coffee table that sat in the centre.

The living room itself had a high ceiling that stretched all the way up to the third floor to allow room for the tree to grow while the walls to the right were changed for a floor length window that oversaw the sea and the mainland across from the tower.

To my immediate left was what looked like a bar with bar seatings and just a little beyond that was a fully stocked kitchen which made me wonder if I was even going to use it to begin with.

Outside of the kitchen was the dining area where a large, rectangular table was placed that was big enough for my Guardians and I to eat on with space to spare if we wanted to. I suspect that this was there just in case we want to have a pizza party here or something.

And right beside the dining room was an indoor zen garden that had another small tree growing out of the sand pit and a rather cool looking rock beside it.

The interesting part was the fact that there was something that looked like a stone bath with a path leading up to it in the middle of the zen garden where one could just sit in it to soak in the water.

Just at a glance, the first floor was already pretty impressive looking and I was just stuck there looking around and trying to comprehend what I was seeing.

"What do you think, Qing? We went ahead to research your culture and tried to emulate it as much as possible!" Maylene announced proudly.

"Well... I admit that this is really luxurious and something that I never thought I would even be able to experience to begin with... Like... Three floors? Do I even need all that? Isn’t this place just somewhere that I will come back to sleep and that’s it? Do I even need all this?"

Ava giggled, "Ufufufu~ What are you talking about, my Divine? It’s not like you will be constantly tasked to go out and deal with rifts~ The recent ones are just meant to establish you on the world stage. Under normal circumstances, you would only be asked to mobilise when there’s a particularly dangerous rift that we aren’t able to take care of. This is meant to be your living space and your domain."

"The rift in Thailand felt like one such rift though?" I pointed out.

Kris puffed up his chest, "That’s only because we are lacking in manpower! Once we recruit more people into our team, we will be able to handle that on our own!"

I paused, "Wait... How many Guardians are we even planning on recruiting?"

"Hmm? Isn’t that dependent on your divinity though?" The catboy reminded me.

Oh right... If I remember correctly, there’s supposedly a cap to the number of Guardians that a Mortal God could have that is tied to their divinity.

After all, you were effectively sharing a part of your power with someone else and if you share it with too many people, it becomes less effective.

It’s not that the Mortal God will grow weaker but more that the divinity that the Mortal God grants to their Guardian will fade quicker and might even grant less power than usual. And if the divinity granted to the Guardian fades while they are in a rift... They will be affected by the miasma and end up mutating.

At first, people thought that the number of Guardians a Mortal God could have is tied to the strength of the god they personify but that did not seem to be the case as there were arguably stronger Mortal Gods but could only have a small handful of Guardians.

Then it was theorised that it was most likely linked to their divinity instead but that was still inconclusive.

I’m still not sure what my cap was but I know that I have yet to reach it at least.

For now, I decided to just leave that thought for later and continued with the tour around the penthouse.

The second floor was split into two parts with one side being directly underneath the third floor and a second part being linked by a short walkway that extended to the area above the kitchen and bar counter to overlook the living room.

The area underneath the third floor housed two guest rooms with their own attached bathroom while the area above the kitchen was used as an office and what looked like a mediation space.

All of them were also designed similarly with plants growing out of the walls and a really comfy and chill atmosphere about them.

The office even had a large meeting room attached to it which I have no idea what it would be used for here when we definitely have other meeting rooms in the rest of the tower.

I will have to say the meditation room was a definite plus though and I would most likely be making use of it to do my daily Qi absorption.

And at the very top floor was apparently my most private abode where the master bedroom was located.

Even though I call it a bedroom... The room itself was almost half the size of the living room downstairs and the giant bed that was placed on a raised platform at the end barely took up a small percentage of the space.

There was even another study table placed here but even with that, there was still a lot of empty space leftover.

The attached bathroom was also needlessly big in my opinion as not only was there a shower cubicle, there was even an onsen bath with a window that looked out to the city.

I don’t even know what I was supposed to do with all that luxury they have placed inside this room.

"And for the final thing..." Maylene grinned proudly, hopping over to a wall beside my walk-in closet that was beside the bathroom. "Stand right here!"

I followed her lead and did as she asked, only for a scanner to shine on me before the wall slid open to reveal a hidden room behind.

There were empty cabinets and lockboxes scattered around the room making it look like some kind of vault.

"We figured that you might have some stuff you would like to keep contained so you can use this hidden room to stash anything you want, Qing! Feel free to make use of it! So what do you think about the place?"

"Well... I’m truly honoured that you would even do something like this for me, so thank you and everyone who was involved in making this."

Maylene actually blushed and started squirming, "Ahhhh~ You’re really making me blush, Qing!! I’m so happy you like it!!"

I mean... This really feels too luxurious for me but... I guess since it’s already here, I might as well make good use of it.
