While Others Stream Dungeons, I Became The Final Boss
Chapter 15: Kidnapped?
"We have. Thank you for your help, Doctor," the man in the brown shirt said. "We’ll take it from here."
Dr Martha nodded. "Take care. I’ll be waiting for your next visit," She said to Abel with a light smile. She exited the receptionist area.
The men stepped forward and shook Abel’s hand one by one.
Abel felt the firm strength in their grasp. He suspected that they might be subtly gauging his strength as a newly awakened Hunter.
Abel’s suspicion wasn’t wrong.
As they shook hands, the two agents exchanged subtle glances.
"I’m Daruis," the man in a black shirt introduced himself.
"I’m Leon," the second man in a brown shirt said.
Abel had expected some kind of briefing on who they were and what they had come here to do, but it appeared they weren’t even bothered to do so.
"You’re tall. That’s a ferocious hairdo. Looking sharp though," Leon added with a light whistle.
Anyone seeing a 6’9"(2m)-tall man with lean muscles and hair flowing out and backwards like a mane with clear sapphire eyes would look twice.
"It just happened after my awakening. I don’t know how to explain it," Abel replied. He hadn’t noticed before because he was still wearing hospital garments, but after he attempted to change into the former clothes he had been brought into the hospital in, they were short and felt tight.
Even his hair had grown out at an absurd rate. He had managed to trim his beard. But there was nothing much he could do about his hair. He would have to get home or head over to a salon, pay them, and let them figure it out for him.
He had learnt from the nurses that these changes rarely transpired, or else every Hunter in the city would be almost 7 feet tall and a professionally trained bodybuilder.
Fortunately, he managed to get a fresh pair of clothes from the hospital for free. The only downside was that it was slightly oversized.
Abel was certain he would go through a massive wardrobe overhaul after today.
Leon nodded; his expression shifted into understanding.
"We should get going," Darius said, his tone serious. He turned around and led the way forward.
Leon and Abel trailed behind without saying another word.
Soon, they arrived at a sleek black car in the parking area, its surface reflecting the glow of the sun like a dark mirror.
Darius sat in the driver’s seat.
Leon held the door of the backseat open.
"Get in."
Abel crouched down and entered the car.
Leon entered right after him and closed the door.
As the engine roared to life, Abel looked at the other door and noticed that it was merged with the car. He gently pressed his palm against it and realised that it couldn’t be opened unless he exerted the appropriate amount of force.
"That part of the car is to prevent Hunters from running away. Before they could burst the door right open, we would knock them unconscious and keep them that way until we arrived at the facility," Leon chuckled.
If it wasn’t for the fact that he had confirmed their identities, Abel felt he was truly getting kidnapped.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at an enormous building occupying a large expanse of land.
The car stopped outside its gate.
Leon stepped out of the car with Abel following soon after.
Darius parked the car and followed after them.
They brought out their security cards and scanned them at the gate.
Beep!!
Beep!!
The gate automatically pushed open.
After they made their way through, it closed.
They met a security guard on the other side of the gate. After verifying their identity once more, they led Abel into the building.
As they entered the building, they quickly spotted a group of people scattered across the entrance hall.
"We forgot to inform you that there are press members every other day of the week gathering in various Hunter facilities for some latest intel or the emergence of a new Hunter. Today just seemed to be one of those days." Leon gestured at the press.
Abel saw the huge cameras, wireless microphones and recorders in their hands.
The press noticed them. They turned their cameras toward them.
Instantly, the atmosphere was filled with bright flashes of light.
Abel protected his vision with his hand as he shifted his focus to another direction.
Before the reporters could approach them, Darius and Leon led Abel through a wide corridor.
After taking several turns, they arrived at a waiting room. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Wait here. Someone will come to attend to you soon," Darius pointed at a chair.
Abel nodded and took his seat.
Meanwhile, Darius and Leon stepped through another door.
Minutes later, they emerged, but with smiles on their faces.
There was someone also following behind them.
A woman dressed in a black business suit, wearing glasses, with auburn hair tied in a ponytail.
"See you later, champ. Hope you get some good results," Leon waved his hand at him with a smile.
"Wish you the best," Darius gave him a light nod.
Abel nodded at them.
Up to this moment, he had awakened as a Hunter, from the treatment at the Hunter Healthcare facility to his meeting with the two unknown Hunters, none of it had been as intimidating or difficult as he had anticipated.
Since he was entering a wide pool of Golden Age streamers all chasing power and fame with a limited viewership, he had expected he would be threatened or put in his place. However, it seemed the pool was wide enough that any fresh meat was welcome, and ensured they could be sent into the dungeon in top condition.
The woman, appearing to be in her early twenties, halted before him.
She studied him from top to bottom, then said, "Follow me." She turned around without another word and stepped through another door.
Abel trailed after her.
They halted before a door.
The woman took the card hanging around her neck and pressed it against the sensor on the door handle.
