Xiao Mu didn’t reach out towards the flame to refine it.

It just looked at Lin Fan as if it couldn’t believe that he was giving it the Heaven and Earth Flame to refine.

After a long pause, Xiao Mu said, "This is a proper Heaven and Earth Flame, it’s not something that you can get that easily."

Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a wry smile when he heard this, but then he said, "Just take it already. Kids should take things that adults give them."

"Who are you calling a kid?" Xiao Mu complained, but then it added, "Even if you have a Heaven and Earth Flame already, it won’t clash with the one that you currently have."

Lin Fan was a bit surprised to hear this since he didn’t think that Xiao Mu would see through him like this.

But he still said, "You’ll need one as well, it’s not as if I need every single one of them."

Ye Qing Huan came forward to pat Xiao Mu on the head before it could say anything else and she said, "Just take it, it’s his gift for you."

Xiao Mu looked like it was still hesitating, but it reached out towards the flame in the end.

In the first place, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan had been worried if Xiao Mu would even be able to absorb it. Even if it was an AI that had developed self awareness, it wasn’t as if that qualified it to be capable of absorbing this.

Only it seemed like they were worried for nothing.

Xiao Mu didn’t absorb the flame in the way that humans would have absorbed it, Xiao Mu absorbed it in the way that a puppet would absorb it.

Since it was a puppet, it had compartments inside of itself that could store things and bring them out when it needed these things.

That was why Xiao Mu just reached out towards the Heaven and Earth Flame with one hand. Once the hand came close, it suddenly opened up in a way that only a puppet could open up and it sucked in the flames.

Once the flames were sucked in, they disappeared without a trace inside of Xiao Mu.

"Can you bring it out?" Lin Fan asked just in case after seeing the flame disappear.

Xiao Mu suddenly pointed that outstretched hand at Lin Fan and it suddenly opened up once more. After opening up, there were flames that were suddenly released at him.

Lin Fan didn’t have any trouble dodging out of the way since it wasn’t as if Xiao Mu actually aimed those flames at him to hurt him. They came out at a speed that was easy for Lin Fan to move out of the way.

But that did show that Xiao Mu was able to control the Heaven and Earth Flame that it had taken into itself.

However, there was something else that they had to test.

"Can you use it to open the door?"

After all, the connection between Heaven and Earth Flame and Xiao Mu wouldn’t be the same as the connection that it would have with a human. Which was why they had to make sure that Xiao Mu could use this Heaven and Earth Flame to activate the things that were here.

All Xiao Mu had to do was raise its hand and point it at the forge that was in front of them.

As soon as it did this, there was a door that opened nearby.

From the aura that came from it, it was clear that this place was filled with things that weren’t normal. It was just that the form that they took wasn’t what they had been expecting to see.

"All of the weapons were taken in the disaster, the only things that were left behind were the spares and leftover material that we had." The old man explained.

Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan understood why this was the case since there was that disaster that had befallen the Dao Sect.

In times of crisis, they would naturally use everything that was at their disposal to face that disaster. It wasn’t as if they would leave anything behind just to gather dust when they were all dead.

But in the end, it seemed like it wasn’t enough for the Dao Sect to escape their fate.

With a sigh, the old man said, "Use whatever you want in this place since those materials will just be gathering dust anyway."

Though he said it like this, it really sounded like there was some kind of ulterior motive to this.

It wasn’t hard for Lin Fan to guess what he wanted from him and it wasn’t as if Lin Fan had anything against this.

However, it seemed like the old man was forcing himself to remain here just to see this.

In that case, he should at least let the old man see what he wanted to see before he disappeared. This was his respect for the weapon forger that the old man had been in the past.

"Do you want to try out that technique?"

The one that he asked was Xiao Mu.

Xiao Mu seemed taken aback when it heard this, but then it seemed like it was filled with energy as it nodded in agreement.

Taking some of the materials, they moved over to the forge to start.

Lin Fan was the one that took the lead since he had to first demonstrate the technique that the two of them wanted to see. It was clear that they both were interested in this technique and it wasn’t as if he had any reason to hide it.

After all, one was about to disappear and the other was a part of their group.

If Xiao Mu was interested in learning, there was nothing to lose from teaching it.

Not to mention that if they were to become closer because of it, it could be considered a win win situation.

So that was why Lin Fan focused on demonstrating the technique.

He still had access to the system’s guidance system, so he actually learned quite a bit from doing this as well. However, he did it slowly just to make sure that they would be able to see through it.

"Alright, it’s your turn now." Lin Fan said as he turned the hammer and handed it over to Xiao Mu.

Xiao Mu was caught off guard when it heard this, but it seemed like it was filled with determination with the way that it took the hammer from Lin Fan in the end.

It was just that determination only took one so far.

It wasn’t as if having determination alone was enough to master a technique like this.

The more that Xiao Mu hammered, the more that it seemed to become frustrated which was an amazing thing in itself.

"AI that have developed self awareness, should they really be developing emotions this quickly? It just doesn’t seem right..."

From his experience in his past life, it really seemed like Xiao Mu was developing a bit too fast. It almost felt like Xiao Mu was speedrunning the whole process of developing self awareness.

After a while, it seemed like Xiao Mu was done with the way that it put down the hammer.

Even though it could have tossed the hammer, it seemed to respect the process and put it away like a weapon forger would. It didn’t show any disrespect to the tools that it was using, just like a proper weapon forger.

"You have to work on your aim a bit more." The old man said once Xiao Mu put the hammer down.

He had been watching it hammer the whole time and had only offered advice now.

It wasn’t as if he couldn’t have offered advice during the process, it was that he didn’t really know how to offer advice until now. The fact that he was able to pick this up was already quite amazing in itself.

It just went to show how great of a weapon forger he was when he was still alive.

Only it didn’t seem like Xiao Mu cared for the old man’s advice with the way that it glared at him.

The old man just awkwardly floated away when he saw this.

What Lin Fan knew was that Xiao Mu had been using its ability to calculate the path of the swing the entire time. Its eyes had been glowing a bit after all, which showed the calculations that were running while it was swinging the hammer.

That was the advantage that an AI puppet had, but it wasn’t as if that was everything.

Even if it could follow the path, it wasn’t as if its body could keep up with it.

That was why it failed.

This technique was a special one that relied on momentum and if one wasn’t strong enough to take that momentum, then they wouldn’t be able to swing the hammer the way that they wanted to.

"It’s like this." Lin Fan said as he demonstrated a few swings for Xiao Mu.

Xiao Mu didn’t say anything as it watched him, but Lin Fan could see something from the corner of his eyes.

Xiao Mu’s eyes were glowing while it was watching him.

It seemed like Xiao Mu was recording his actions and analyzing it at the same time.

There was a part of Lin Fan that didn’t know how to feel when he was being observed like this, but he pushed through in the end.
