Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 86 - 74: Encounter Battle 2
And so, facing the Hammer Soldier charging at her, Liu Li reached under her skirt and pulled out a giant blade. With a flash of its edge, she instantly cleaved the Hammer Soldier in two, hammer and all!
Scalding blood flew everywhere!
A bit of blood splattered onto Liu Li, then strangely vanished. Whether on her face, her clothes, or even the blade itself, the bloodstains dissipated in the blink of an eye!
However, the lead Swordsman didn’t notice anything amiss. He stared, stunned, at his teammate who had been hacked in two, then let out a great roar, "Die!"
His Longsword, burning with fury and wreathed in unparalleled Sword Qi, swung toward Liu Li!
The Shield Soldier also thrust his shield sharply at Liu Li.
Liu Li frowned. She parried the nearest Longsword with her massive blade as two invisible, large hands emerged from behind her to block the shield. Two other invisible hands balled into fists and punched them viciously in the stomach, knocking both men back.
Meanwhile, on the other side, after creating a safe distance, Isaac gave a light wave of his right hand. The Magic Seal on the back of his hand glowed with a faint blue light. Streaks of Flame ignited before him, which he bound into the shape of arrows. He infused them with Magic Power, and they instantly became powerful Flaming Arrows!
Flaming Arrow X10!
"Come on, let’s see who’s the better shot!"
With a wave of his right hand, ten Flaming Arrows shot toward the ground!
The Archer, who had been keeping an eye on Isaac, felt his pupils shrink. He quickly blew the Bone Whistle he had been holding in his mouth, producing a series of urgent notes to warn his teammates to dodge.
He scrambled to dodge as well, nocking an arrow, drawing his bow, and releasing the string all in one smooth motion!
Three arrows instantly flew toward Isaac!
"Heh. Bind them, Silver Moon Vine!"
Isaac softly chanted the Magic Spell. Silver vines shot out from his short Magic Wand, meeting the arrows in mid-air and swatting them aside in an instant. The vines then multiplied into dozens, splitting into five groups that coiled toward the five survivors on the ground!
On the ground, the Archer sighed quietly, seeing his attack blocked once again. He understood now that his arrows couldn’t touch Isaac. There was nothing he could do. The distance was just too great; his arrows needed time to travel, and he needed time to aim.
That time lag was more than enough for Isaac to cast more Magic.
So, he blew his Bone Whistle again, warning his teammates to watch out for the magical attacks from the sky. At the same time, he aimed his arrow at Liu Li to create an opportunity for his allies.
It wasn’t as easy to maneuver on the ground as it was in the air. A sneak attack with an arrow wouldn’t be as easy to spot, and thus, not as easy to dodge.
And so, the situation fell into a temporary stalemate.
On the ground, the Adventurers’ two remaining Great Warriors led the assault, supported by a dagger-wielder and another Swordsman. They all fought together—CLANG! CLANG!—occasionally dodging the Flames and vines that rained down from above. The Archer kept an arrow nocked, constantly repositioning himself to evade the aerial attacks and search for an opening.
In the sky, Isaac controlled the Silver Moon Vine’s attacks while flinging Flaming Arrows downward, occasionally tossing down some chunks of flesh as well.
At this point, the outcome of the battle was already clear to Isaac. However, both he and Liu Li had very little experience fighting enemies, so Isaac couldn’t bring himself to kill the Adventurers just yet. He decided to use them for some more practice.
This was an excellent opportunity for him. After all, practice was just practice. Only in a real battle could he discover how many of his Magic spells were truly practical and what effects they had. As for Liu Li, although she was born with powerful combat instincts, she had only just been created and hadn’t learned any Combat Techniques. This was a good chance for her to accumulate some fighting experience.
"Squeak?"
Meanwhile, Shushu the Groom, forgotten by everyone on the carriage, watched the chaotic melee. It blinked its tiny, bean-sized eyes, wanting to join the fray, but it couldn’t follow their movements. Its little eyes darted around until it was seeing stars, yet it still couldn’t keep up.
’Hm? There’s another one?’ The dagger-wielding Adventurer providing support grew increasingly frustrated. Their prolonged assault was getting nowhere, he was constantly harassed by Magic from above, and he would occasionally get clocked by one of Liu Li’s invisible fists. He was absolutely miserable.
A random glance revealed the shifty-eyed, somewhat panicked Groom on the carriage. A surge of anger flared in his heart, and he changed direction, charging straight for the Groom!
’I can’t kill her, but you think I can’t kill you?!’
’Die!’
The short Adventurer’s dagger shot out, aiming for Shushu’s neck. A vicious smile spread across his face, as if he could already see the Groom’s blood splattering everywhere!
’If you have to blame someone, blame yourself for following the wrong people!’
SQUELCH~
"Squeak?" Shushu looked at the dagger that had pierced straight through its neck, then at the short Adventurer. It tilted its head, letting out a confused sound. ’Is this guy that nice? Worried I couldn’t keep up, so he delivered himself right to my doorstep?’
’What a nice guy!’
CRACK CRACK CRACK~~
SQUELCH!
To the short Adventurer’s horrified expression, gray Death Magic Power gathered. A pale, bony hand shot out from the Groom’s abdomen, its sharp claws piercing straight through the Adventurer’s stomach. The Death Magic Power instantly began its Erosion of his body. A deathly chill rendered him immobile as it swiftly stole his life.
Even at the moment of his death, he couldn’t understand why the Groom before him was Undying after having his throat pierced...
Of course, if he had lived a moment longer, he would have seen the figure of the Groom he had stabbed through the throat slowly dissipate into purple smoke. A gray-furred rat was lying on the carriage, a Magic Array hovering above its head, from which the pale, bony hand had emerged.
The reason the Groom was Undying was because it wasn’t a person at all, but merely an illusory body created by Isaac’s Transformation Magic. He had only destroyed the illusory body, not Shushu’s real body.
To kill Shushu, one would have to attack its abdomen.
However, attacking its abdomen would only work for now. Once Isaac’s Transformation Magic became more profound, the transformation would be equivalent to having a second life!
"Squeak~"
Shushu let out a soft squeak. The corpse impaled on the bone claw began to rot rapidly. In a few moments, its flesh turned to ash and scattered, leaving only a skeleton skewered on the claw!
"Squeak~"
Shushu squeaked again. Gray Death Magic Power flew from its body and merged into the small skeleton. With a series of CRACKS, endless white bone sprouted like flesh, instantly filling the empty spaces of the skeleton and transforming it into a Skeleton Warrior!
"Squeak!"
Looking at the stocky Skeleton Warrior before it, Shushu let out an excited squeak and issued a command.
Then, the stocky Skeleton Warrior, mimicking Liu Li from earlier, pulled a Bone Knife from its thigh and charged clumsily toward the battlefield.
At first, it managed to jog forward like a person, but as it picked up speed, it clamped the Bone Knife in its teeth, dropped to all fours, and scurried into the battlefield like a rat!
That’s right, the Skeleton Warrior was not a Summoned Creature. It was merely bone molded into a human shape. In reality, just like the bone claw Shushu had made, it was simply a bone Creation. Shushu’s own consciousness was controlling the Skeleton Warrior, which was why it could barely maintain a human-like form at first. But once it started moving quickly, its true nature was revealed.
Seeing the "little bro" it had summoned charge into battle, an elated Shushu squeaked at Liu Li: "Squeak!"
I’m here to help!
"What the hell!"
BAM!
Startled by the Skeleton Warrior that had scurried onto the battlefield, the Shield Soldier instinctively swung his shield and smashed the Skeleton Warrior to pieces!
Shushu froze.
Liu Li was also a bit speechless. ’We’ve been with Master for so long, and we’re both Divine Species, but this is all it can do?’
’No wonder it was turned into a Groom. It’s only good for driving a carriage.’
This sudden turn of events left Liu Li speechless and also momentarily distracted her. The Archer, hidden in the shadows, saw his chance. A glint flashed in his eyes as he released his finger, and an arrow instantly shot toward Liu Li!
WHOOSH!
Liu Li noticed the arrow instantly. Her heart leaped, and she instinctively tilted her head to dodge!
However, she was a fraction too slow. The arrow grazed her fair cheek!
