"Can you see what’s happening to him?" Staring for a moment in the direction the pumpkin carriage had disappeared, Philo still couldn’t feel at ease. He turned his head and asked Angel.

Angel nodded but didn’t answer. A black Magic Book had suddenly appeared on her lap. She rubbed it with her right hand for a moment, then shook her head. "I can’t see."

She paused for a moment before continuing, "My power is too weak right now. It isn’t enough to probe matters related to a Demon God, to say nothing of the other powers he possesses besides that of the Demon God."

Hearing this, Philo couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, even though he had expected as much. He didn’t doubt her, however. He simply nodded, as he had great trust in Angel.

And so they sat. One drank milk while gazing in the direction Isaac had gone; the other quietly stroked the Magic Book on her lap, her expression serene and unreadable.

...

Meanwhile, Isaac, having driven the carriage out of Philis Town, didn’t head straight for yesterday’s location. He took a detour, stopping at a riverbank. He and Liu Li then got out of the carriage to wait quietly.

Before long, a party of Adventurers also "coincidentally" stopped at the same riverbank to rest. At the sight of them, Isaac began to laugh, while Liu Li’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.

"You can all drop the act. This riverbank only has the lowest-level Slimes—not even a single Tier One Demon. Your average Adventurers wouldn’t come here, especially not a party with two Great Warriors."

The Warrior is an Extraordinary Profession derived from the Knight, rumored to be the creation of a certain Wizard. Like Knights, Warriors are masters of Combat Techniques and possess powerful physiques. However, they lack the Knights’ sophisticated and miraculous Breathing Skills to condition their bodies. As a result, they often sustain severe internal damage during training and combat. In their later years, not only does their strength regress, but their bodies are riddled with hidden injuries, making their existence a fate worse than death.

Furthermore, they lack access to the Melting Skill, a Technique that can break the body’s natural limits, preventing them from advancing any further.

On the other hand, it is far easier to become a Warrior than a Knight. Many Goblin Slayers, after killing their fill of goblins, choose to become Warriors. Very few ever become Knights.

This is because while Knights are not as rare as they once were, and the title no longer guarantees entry into the lowest ranks of the Nobility, the core Breathing Skills remain concentrated in the hands of the nobles, rarely being taught to outsiders.

In terms of pure combat ability, however, they are among the best of the Transcendents below Tier Three who have yet to master an Authority. Consequently, most Adventurers are Warriors. A few are Legendary Mages or Magic Net Mages, and one might occasionally encounter a Witch.

As for Arcanists, you won’t find any. Arcanists are more akin to scholars, and most are cultivated by Wizard Organizations. They gain far more by studying in their Mage Towers than they would by venturing out.

In short, Casters are a rarity in the adventuring trade. The six people facing Isaac, for instance, were all Warriors. There wasn’t a single Caster among them.

Their choice of weapons was quite diverse: swords, hammers, shields, and even a bow. A party with this composition had to have some degree of skill.

For some reason, however, their tracking methods were rather crude. Of course, it could also be a display of confidence—a disdain for any sort of concealment.

And now that Isaac had called them out, they had drawn their weapons without hesitation. It was clearly the latter: confidence.

"You knew we were following you, yet you still dared to stop. Interesting. Get out of Philis Town. You’re not welcome here!" the lead Great Warrior said coldly, drawing the longsword from his hip and pointing it at Isaac.

Isaac’s eyes narrowed slightly, then he suddenly laughed. "So that’s how it is. It seems my worldly experience is still lacking; I completely misread the situation. You aren’t here to rob me. So, tell me, who sent you? His Highness Philo, or someone else?"

He drew his Magic Wand, paused, and added, "Answer carefully. Your lives depend on it."

"How arrogant!"

With a sharp cry, the six opponents immediately fanned out. The Swordsman, a Hammer Soldier, and the Shield Soldier charged Isaac from the front with incredible speed. The Archer fell back, while a dagger-wielder and another Swordsman circled around to flank him.

Their movements were swift. Before the cry even faded, the flankers had circled behind him, cutting off his escape. The main group charged forward, with the two Great Warriors—one wielding a shield, the other a sword—almost on top of him!

"Arcane Teleportation!"

In the nick of time, he cast Arcane Teleportation, soaring upwards into the air.

At the same time, the Archer, having found his firing position, instantly tracked the Arcane Streaming Light, locked onto Isaac’s new location, and swiftly loosed an arrow!

Clearly, he had plenty of experience fighting Mages.

"Enhanced Arcane Teleportation!"

But Isaac was just as fast. Before the arrow could reach him, he once again transformed into a streak of light and flew even higher. Only then did Isaac leisurely pull out a handful of iron sand and chant a Magic Spell. The sand instantly began to revolve around him as he cast another Arcane Shield.

RIIIP~

Harmon burst from the back of Isaac’s neck, catching him in its palm. It then hovered there, a hundred meters up in the sky.

At this height, he was still within the Archer’s range, but he now had plenty of room to maneuver.

While this was Isaac’s first time in such an ambush, he had rehearsed it countless times, so he handled it with ease. The entire sequence had taken less than a second.

BANG!

Down on the ground, Liu Li had only just engaged the three Adventurers who charged them!

As a Demon God’s Favored who was earning a double salary, Liu Li was only Tier One, but in a real fight—even one where she only used simple Magic Enhancement on her body—she was not much weaker than a Tier Two Great Knight.
