World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 15: Tier Seven Shadow Demon, Thyra
Thyra was a Shadow Demon that had lived for several centuries and had risen to become one of the top powerhouses in the strongest worlds. Her cultivation was already at the Tier Seven Evolved, just two tiers away from reaching the level of an Overlord in the universe.
In her vast experience of life, she had encountered several beings and seen a vast array if abilities.
She had seen those who could take away another person’s ability. However, there was always a flaw. The stolen abilities could not be used, only destroyed.
Yet, right before her, Leon had pulled something out of the Tier One Evolved spider’s corpse and she saw it transform into an ability scroll.
To say she was shocked was an understatement.
Leon noticed her expression and frowned. "What’s wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost."
It was ironic, since the woman was a ghost herself.
Thyra shook her head with a bitter smile.
"You won’t understand. But... don’t ever let anyone you don’t trust know about this ability of yours. Okay?"
Leon blinked, processing her words for a few seconds. His expression turned serious, and he nodded.
He had also felt like this ability was too broken, and seeing someone as mysterious as Thyra look so shaken about the ability, he understood the gravity of the matter.
"Alright but I’ve been forgetting to ask. I only know your name and what you are. I basically know nothing else about you."
He looked straight into her eyes.
"Tell me about yourself, Thyra."
The Shadow Demon was surprised for a moment, but soon smiled.
"Hm, I didn’t think you’d ask. Well, there’s nothing much I can tell you."
She leaned against one of the spider’s legs, then started.
"I’m a Demon General of the Demon Army ruling over the Xenon Galaxy."
Leon’s mouth opened slightly in shock. "A galaxy? Like the Milky Way Galaxy?"
To him, the strongest power in the whole world belonged to the United States president and his soldiers. He didn’t think that there could be an army lording over several planets at once.
However, when the mysterious Star Stream is put into the equation, then it all seemed possible.
"How strong are you? I know you’re probably very strong but I want to know. What Tier are you? Or is there a scaling beyond Tiers?"
Thyra shook her head. "The strongest existences in the universe are Tier Nine Evolveds. As for me, I’m merely a Tier Seven Evolved."
Leon lowered his head and began counting on his fingers.
Thyra stared at him in confusion, wondering why he was doing something so... basic.
When Leon raised his head, his brows were furrowed. "I don’t know... what could have forced you into becoming a ghost?"
Based on his deductions, a Tier Seven Evolved would be strong enough to single-handedly wipe out a planet. So how could Thyra have been forced into such a defenseless state?
For the first time since he had known her, Thyra’s expression darkened, her smile completely erased.
"That... is a long story. I fought a battle, and I lost. I had to shed my essence into an ability scroll which you got, and attach my soul to it so I can become what I am right now."
Leon’s eyes widened. For something to be able to make an entity as powerful as Thyra lose and flee, then he couldn’t imagine what would happen if such an existence came to Earth.
The black-haired demon read his expression and chuckled.
"You don’t need to be worried. Higher Entities like that aren’t allowed to interfere with the Low-level worlds. You’re safe for now until your world reaches Tier Five."
Leon’s expression changed instantly. "The world also evolves?"
She nodded, calmly explaining it to him. "You heard the Star Stream’s message at the start, right? It mentioned something about Phase 1. Right now, your world is already a Tier One world. Once it has enough Tier Two inhabitants, it will naturally evolve into a Tier Two world."
She paused, then added solemnly.
"The evolution wouldn’t be smooth, I promise you. You can already see what Phase 1 looks like. I’ll leave Phase 2 to your imagination."
Leon nodded, clenching his fists tightly.
He finally realized that it wasn’t just about finding his sister anymore. It was more about surviving through the dangerous phases that were bound to come.
What use would it be if he found his loved ones only to perish with them later? Or worse to watch them perish while he remained powerless?
"Oh, dear... this is going to be a long journey."
Chuckling in self-deprecation, he glanced at the scroll in his hand, then stored it in his bag.
It was time to go upstairs and complete his mission. His body still hurt badly, but sufficient rest for two days would be enough to bring him back to his peak.
"Wait. Before you go upstairs." Thyra stopped him, pointing at the head of the spider. "You might want to take that with you."
He looked back, seeing a small yellow crystal embedded into the spider’s head.
"What’s that?"
He asked as he approached it. He could feel a lot of mana present inside the crystal, greatly surprising him.
"That’s a Soul Crystal. Only ranked beings possess it. Unfortunately, you humans don’t grow one like the other races."
Using his spear, Leon dug out the crystal, letting it rest on his palm.
"You demons have? How come I’ve never seen it on you?"
Thyra just smiled and waved her hand.
"That’s because you haven’t seen my demonic appearance."
Leon’s eyes narrowed in curiosity, and he turned to her. "Let me see, then."
Unexpectedly, Thyra shook her head. "I’m sorry, but I can’t."
"What? Why?"
Her voice carried a teasing edge. "Oh, dear... your willpower isn’t strong enough to resist me in that form. I can guarantee you that you’ll lose your mind and become a big bad wolf who wants to eat the pitiful bunny—me."
Stunned, Leon’s mouth opened and closed, but he couldn’t say anything. In the end, he just sighed and shook his head.
"Alright. I’m no longer curious. Let’s just head up to see if there are any survivors."
Picking up the heavy greatsword and strapping it to his back, he went up the stairs of the female dormitory.
