World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 21: Zombies incoming
Seeing their leader’s hand suddenly get separated from his body, the rest of the gang members were shocked and terrified.
One of them immediately pointed his gun at Reymond to shoot him, but Selene was faster.
With a wave of her slender, delicate hand, she blocked the gun’s muzzle with an icicle, then froze up the entire thing.
Unable to keep holding the cold object, the man dropped his gun to the ground.
Seeing the bizarre abilities displayed by the students, they all surrendered immediately, tossing their weapons aside.
Reymond went ahead to tie their hands behind their backs while the bleeding leader tried to bear through the pain without screaming pathetically.
"Should I... heal him?"
Gwen came over and whispered to Selene.
The silver-haired girl shook her head. "No need. Let’s just tie his wounds."
She then turned to Samson. "You lead the students inside the restaurant and ransack the storage rooms. You’ll decide what things are necessary to take."
The man nodded, giving one last glance at the immobilized bandits before he led the students inside.
Selene, Reymond, Leon, and Gwen finally converged before the five kneeling men.
"What the... hell are you people? You guys are definitely not normal!"
The leader barked, his expression twisted in pain and frustration. His stump was no longer bleeding and a cloth had been tied around it.
However, it still felt itchy and extremely painful that he continued to sweat profusely.
Selene folded her arms and glared at him.
"How did you people get inside here?"
These men were definitely not students of the Clifford University. Yet, they were on campus with ammunition. How was that possible?
The leader gritted his teeth and answered.
"We were close to the school when this... apocalypse broke out. So we quickly shot down a few zombies and rushed in. People were still running about so we escaped into this restaurant and locked the doors."
Selene’s eyes narrowed. "So that’s it? What about the people inside the restaurant? You met people there, right?"
The gangsters expressions changed, and they looked at each other hesitantly. Finally, the leader lowered his head and spoke.
"We shot down the zombies and only one woman was left alive. Well, she died two days ago, though."
Reymond frowned. "Why did she die?"
The gangsters tensed, but none answered his question. His frown deepened, and he placed his blade at the leaders neck threateningly.
"Answer me now, or I’ll kill you."
Instantly, panic flooded his expression and he shouted.
"W-wait! I’ll talk! I’ll talk! W-we gang-raped her and she died since she couldn’t handle it I guess. It was not our fault, believe us! She definitely looked normal before. She was even moani—"
He couldn’t finish his words because an icicle shot through his head, killing him on the spot.
Reymond and Gwen were shocked, while the other four bandits barely felt any emotion. Why? They had also been killed by Selene’s sharp icicles.
Reymond’s mouth opened and closed, but he couldn’t say anything. While he couldn’t agree with her killing those men, he knew they truly deserved death.
He just wasn’t accustomed to cold justice like this.
Selene watched the bodies drop to the ground without a word, receiving a few messages from the Star Stream.
She turned to the other three beside her and asked. "Do you think I wasn’t supposed to kill them?"
Gwen shook her head immediately. "No, you did right by killing them. How could they... how could they have done that to a woman...?"
Reymond had no choice but to agree with her. "I already expected something like this. But I didn’t think I’d see anything like this by myself." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Selene turned away and muttered in disdain. "Humanity is darker and far more twisted than you’d realize."
Leon, who had been silently conversing with Thyra suddenly noticed something from the corner of his eyes.
He turned sharply, sighting some zombies running straight towards them from the distance.
"We’ve got company. Big one."
When the other three turned, they were surprised to find hundreds of zombies rushing at them with vigor. These zombies were faster than a normal human, proving that they weren’t low-level by any means.
"Gwen, warn everyone to stay inside. If we can’t hold out for long, they should retreat through the backdoor."
Selene immediately gave orders, rolling her wrists and stepping forward.
Reymond stood beside her readily, his blade unsheathed.
Meanwhile Leon tactically stayed back.
Selene glanced at him. "We’ll try leading them away from here. But if that doesn’t work, it’s up to you and Gwen to defend this place."
The black-haired boy raised an eyebrow in surprise, but still nodded.
"Let’s go."
Immediately, Selene and Reymond dashed at the zombies, blocking their path and subtly leading them away.
Being attacked and sensing the strong life force of the duo, the seemingly endless zombies chased after them.
Leon tilted his head, wondering if it would be so simple.
Beside him, Thyra was frowning.
"Their tactics is good, but only for mindless, uncoordinated zombies."
Leon instantly grasped the meaning of her words. "The zombies are being coordinated."
She nodded, chuckling darkly. "This your world is really strange. It has just been four days yet Tier One Evolved existences are already popping up?"
Leon didn’t react to that, as he didn’t know how strange it was compared to other worlds.
Instead, he calmly gripped the hilt of his greatsword and waited. Soon, Gwen returned from the inside. "I’ve already informed them that everyone should stay silent."
Her gaze drifted to the diverted zombies. "Ahh... Selene and Rey are really doing it! Phew... that means we should hurry up and depart."
Leon shook his head, gesturing at the horde.
"Not so fast."
The zombies were branching, with some of them rushing straight at the restaurant again. Even the ones that had been pursuing the Student Union duo were turning back.
Gwen’s eyes widened, and her delicate face paled. "No way... why are they coming after us?!"
Leon didn’t answer immediately. He studied the zombie movements for a few seconds, then said to her.
"Based on what I’m seeing, they are definitely above Level 8. You should climb onto the roof and support me from there."
The brown-haired girl’s expression changed. "I should leave you alone on the ground here?"
Leon nodded. "Yes. It’s safer for you, and works well for me."
After all, he wouldn’t have to be careful about using shadow spears if necessary. Although reluctant, Gwen still complied and found a way to climb onto the decked roof of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Leon raised his greatsword and prepared for the clash.
"Let’s see how much stronger you’ve become, Little Leon~"
