World-saving Plan: The Only Savior
Chapter 1858 - 5: Hive Project (Part 1)
Getting to work for the Anti-Demon Alliance is a dream come true for their generation, something akin to reaching for the stars, so Li Zixuan agreed almost without hesitation.
He didn’t know why they picked him, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was that he would become a member of the Anti-Demon Alliance, lucky enough to set foot on that mysterious island and come into contact with true Extraordinary Power. Maybe he could even become a Transcendent himself.
Although joining the Anti-Demon Alliance doesn’t guarantee becoming a Transcendent, as its reach spans the globe and covers many fields, with warriors in the Anti-Demon Army being only a minority, while most are in clerical roles.
But for Li Zixuan, at least, the door to a New World would open. If he worked hard enough within the Alliance, maybe earned some merits, then he would have a chance.
After all, dreams are worth having because what if they come true?
Reflecting on his parents’ astonished expressions upon hearing the news, the neighbors’ bewildered glances in his direction, Li Zixuan couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride.
Finally, even Old Li got somewhere!
Three large military-grade anti-gravity cars with the Anti-Demon Alliance insignia descended into Li’s neighborhood, with their imposing and fierce spirit particle cannons and seven or eight warriors in Anti-Demon Army battle armor escorting him. Li Zixuan was successfully taken away; the whole spectacle felt like a dream, and he had never felt so triumphant. He didn’t even need to look back to sense how his neighbors must be reacting.
"Hahaha!"
At the time, Li Zixuan just wanted to laugh out loud toward the sky. He had never felt more in the spotlight in his life. Even if it turned out to be a mix-up, and the Anti-Demon Alliance had the wrong person, and he was sent back within a few hours, it would still have been worth it, as the feeling of showing off was indeed delightful.
Nevertheless, Li Zixuan managed to maintain the image of the "Li family prodigy" he envisioned, outwardly keeping a calm demeanor as he followed the warriors of the Anti-Demon Army into the anti-gravity car.
In reality, he didn’t think he would do anything beyond clerical work for the Anti-Demon Alliance until he fully understood the Hive Plan, because in his eyes, he was just an ordinary person with no Combat Power, someone who hadn’t even attempted the Martial Artist evaluation at the dojo. Asking him to fight seemed akin to a death sentence; surely the Alliance wouldn’t bring him back just to be cannon fodder.
However, when led into a secret chamber and briefed by two black-clad individuals on the Hive Plan, he was genuinely shocked.
"You’re telling me that I’ll be piloting a spacecraft, fighting the Insect Race in outer space!?"
Li Zixuan was utterly dumbfounded, not expecting events to unfold this way. The Anti-Demon Alliance wasn’t looking for a clerical worker; they planned to send him straight into the combat frontline.
"To put it simply, you can think of it that way."
The man in black nodded at him, adding,
"Of course, the specific plan isn’t that reckless. Right now, you’re at best a trainee. To truly pilot a spacecraft, you need to undergo at least three years of military training. During this period, if you’re found unsuitable for the plan, the Alliance will immediately revoke your trainee designation."
Li Zixuan reread the detailed entries carefully, only nodding in a daze.
He initially couldn’t imagine things developing in this direction. Although he had piloted a spacecraft facing Desert Worms in a game, in his mind, a game was just a game, nothing like reality.
Moreover, his game piloting had been in a semi-automated mode assisted by the System, where he, as the ship captain, only handled what’s feasible.
Even though Li Zixuan had been learning how to be a good captain over the past year, the skill set required for piloting a spacecraft was tremendous, and a year simply wasn’t enough.
But comparing with others is crucial, and in the entire game, achieving his level of semi-automated control was very rare. There were also very few who could become ship captains so quickly, making Li Zixuan one of the truly gifted few in the game. This was why the Anti-Demon Alliance approached him.
So, after several hours of discussions with the men in black, Li Zixuan had become an honored trainee. In the coming three years, he would undergo military training with other selectees, the goal being to harness their space combat potential and lay the groundwork for future drone hive combat plans.
Thus, Li Zixuan settled into the place he had dreamed of—the mysterious island Floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Rebirth Island.
"From now on, this is your dormitory, single room per person. The backyard is the small park square; the dining hall is to your right after exiting; the training room is eastward; keep walking, and you’ll reach the airfield. This place is under military control; don’t wander around. I’ll send a set of regulations to your communicators later. From now on, you’re no longer civilians needing protection but warriors who take protecting others as their duty! I hope you persevere. Dismissed!"
