Zombie Queen transmigration into a book
Chapter 174: You guys are no fun
Julian was on the verge of teleporting them to the other island when suddenly a huge shadow blocked the sky above.
They all looked up in shock as a silver spaceship descended from the sky.
Eva’s mouth fell open in shock, and for a moment, she almost thought she had transmigrated into an interstellar novel.
"Damn... who would’ve thought a spaceship this huge existed?"
The words slipped from her lips. Her amazement quickly faded, replaced by caution toward the unknown.
"Are there other humans hiding in space? And do they want to return to Earth, just as we want to get back to the surface?" Eva made a wild guess, and Julian and Ethan’s expressions shifted to one of vigilance.
They believed they could live underground for all these years; there was nothing stopping others from living in space.
"Let’s head to the shore and find out," Ethan muttered, an icy dagger already forming in his hand.
The once-noisy surroundings fell into silence as all eyes fixed on the spaceship descending toward the shoreline.
Their hearts skipped a beat, and they feared it was a monster trying to attack, ready to run.
Ethan, Julian, and Eva approached the shore cautiously as the spaceship door hissed open. Their weapons were ready at the first sign of trouble.
Aaron soared into the sky, hovering above the spaceship as he subtly manipulated its shadows from below.
"Mum," Eva called softly, her voice laced with shock. Her eyes widened—Grace was truly standing at the entrance.
She rushed forward, her face lighting up with joy as she threw her arms around Grace.
"Hmm... how have you been these past few months?" Grace asked, concern in her voice as she stroked Eva’s hair.
Eva hummed against her mother’s chest, happy to be finally reunited.
Aaron flew down, but before he could step forward, Leo burst out of the spaceship and pulled him into a bear hug that sent goosebumps across his skin.
"Old man, you’re being too mushy... go do that with your wife," Aaron muttered, a hint of disgust in his voice as he tried to pry himself free from Leo’s tight hold.
"Tch. If I don’t hug you, won’t your smelly paws go running straight to your mother? And what kind of son disrespects his father like that? Don’t you know I’m still handsome at my age? How else would I keep my wife’s heart?"
Leo retorted, then shoved Aaron away with a hint of disgust—though inwardly, he was relieved to see him well. Not that he would ever admit it.
Aaron’s expression was deadpan, showing no surprise at all, knowing how possessive his father can be.
"Aaron." His mother’s call caused him to flash his father a smug smirk, as if to suggest that his place in his mother’s heart was still superior.
"Mum, I’m coming~" Aaron drawled with a punchable smile on his face when he saw Leo’s frown.
The forgotten Ethan and Julian exchanged helpless glances, knowing their days alone with their wife were numbered--sigh... their Father-in-law and mother-in-law were here.
Eva, separated from her mother’s embrace, turned curiously toward the spaceship glimmering in the sun.
Grace noticed her gaze. "It’s a spaceship and our way out of the underground city," she explained, noticing Eva was eager to see the inside.
"How many days did it take to reach the surface?" Eva asked, curious about how deep the underground city they had been living in was.
"Hmm, half a month. I’ve been keeping track," Leo responded, softly patting Eva’s hair.
Eva gasped in surprise and disbelief. It took a full fifteen days to leave the underground city.
’Damn...their ancestors probably did everything possible to escape the surface crisis.’
"The spaceship was able to accommodate everyone. It’s amazing," Julian muttered as he ran his hand over the sleek surface.
Upon hearing his words, she realized she hadn’t told everyone to get down—they must have been frightened by the sudden landing.
She hurried back to the spaceship, Eva and Aaron close behind, their faces alight with curiosity and awe at its ingenious, high-tech design.
Eva’s gaze kept darting around the interior, touching this and that—she felt like she was inside one of those interstellar novels.
[Attention, we have just landed. Please leave your rooms quietly and proceed in single file to the entrance.] Grace’s voice rang throughout the spaceship, amplified by the loudspeaker in the control room
Everyone followed the instructions, assisted by administrators and guards who ensured everything stayed in order.
"I wonder what the surface looks like?" one person whispered to his companion, his tone a mix of curiosity and fear.
"Those attacks, those past days were hellish. I think it’s more dangerous than the oasis city... what if we all get injured or worse, die here?" a middle-aged woman muttered in a grave tone, her eyes filled with fear as they neared the sunlit entrance.
Her steps faltered, but the people behind her bumped into her, their momentum forcing her forward past the entrance.
A burst of evening sunlight flooded her vision, forcing her to shield her eyes; those behind her followed suit.
A collective gasp swept through the crowd as they took in the sight before them.
They had never seen such a clear sky or a forest of tall trees, and the air smelled fresher, a mix of saltiness and moist earth.
Everyone remained frozen, like statues, too stunned and mesmerized by their surroundings.
"Is this real?" someone asked in disbelief, breaking the silence.
A woman pinched the person next to her, who hissed, and she realized what she was seeing was real.
"We should have come here sooner. I can’t believe there was a paradise here and we were living underneath it."
"So, this is our new home."
"Oh my! There are so many trees... water, see the blue sky, and the air is so soothing."
"I never want to go back to Oasis City ever again!"
The crowd got noisier, with some pressing their faces to the ground to feel the sand’s texture.
Stone, Randall, and Elijah were calmer when they faced their surroundings; they had already seen the sight through the control room, though their hearts were filled with excitement to finally reach solid ground.
Ethan spotted a middle-aged man from the crowd, and the smile in his eyes disappeared like a candle blown out.
Julian sensed that the aura around Ethan had grown much colder. Following his gaze, he frowned unconsciously when he saw the middle-aged man who looked almost exactly like Ethan—only older.
"Just ignore him. Everything’s in the past... we’re much stronger now," Julian muttered, patting Ethan on the shoulder in comfort.
"I just find it annoying to see his face again. The one we should be concerned about is my elder sister."
At Ethan’s last words, they collectively shuddered. Julian’s eyes darted around the crowd as if searching for someone.
Then an eerie voice spoke from behind them.
"My cute little brothers. Big sister misses you so much~."
A streak of silver flashed through the evening light, aimed straight for their throats.
Ethan and Julian split in opposite directions, bodies moving faster than thought as the dagger sliced through the air with deadly force. It missed—but the intention was clear. She had gone for the kill.
"Ailsa!" they both shout in unison as they stare at the average-height, black-haired woman in shorts and a baggy top.
"Hmm... I’m so proud of both of you. Still as sharp as ever."
She let out a soft sigh.
"It would’ve been such a tragedy if either of you had been hurt... or worse. Then I’d have to heal you—or bury your bodies somewhere Grandpa wouldn’t find."
Ailsa murmured, sounding troubled at the thought of having to dig a hole herself.
"I wish I were a fire user; I could dispose of bodies easily without trouble." Her voice was thick with regret as she casually dodged both their attacks.
Her left arm deflected Julian’s blow while she blocked the ice daggers with her dagger.
Julian and Ethan frowned at Alisa’s incredible fighting skill. Who would have thought a healer could be this strong?
"Tch. I’m bored. You guys are no fun. Yawn."
And just like that, Ailsa was gone as swiftly as she had appeared—like a gust of wind, here one moment and gone the next.
