10,000x Reward Multiplier: Hell-level Kingdom Building - Chapter 45: [0] Why is Floki Cooked?
The forest was eerily quiet in this area.
Except for the sound of trees dancing with the night wind, nothing else could be heard, not even the faintest sound of insects or birds.
He should have realized something this dangerous was lurking here earlier, right from the moment he first noticed the unnatural silence.
Currently hiding behind a tree, some distance away from the creature that had caused his heartbeat to spike uncontrollably, Floki heaved a long, slow breath in an attempt to calm himself before carefully sneaking another peek at the creature. ππ£πππππππΌππ²πΉ.ππ π
It was a massive, gigantic snake whose body was as thick as a tree trunk. Its body stretched so far that Floki could not even determine where it ended, and its length finally concluded in a huge head with glowing red eyes that pierced through the darkness and sword-like fangs that gleamed faintly with a cold, deadly sheen.
The monstrous creature was currently coiled tightly around a tall tree far away from the one Floki was using as cover.
It was only partially awake due to the noise it had sensed earlier.
It had been resting initially, and that was the only reason Floki was still breathing at this moment.
βCrap... crap... crap...β
Flokiβs mind refused to calm down in the current situation.
Something deep within him screamed at him to run away, but his reasoning forcefully rejected that instinct. After all, running would only alert the beast fully from its slumber, and that would mean immediate death.
βBeing eaten by a snake is not the way I plan to die in this world,β he swallowed nervously, his throat feeling dry and tight.
βThink, Floki... think... what should I do?β
He shut his eyes tightly and began to strategize.
The turmoil within his heart made it difficult, but he forced himself to remain calm by all means, knowing that acting out of fear would only get him killed faster.
An idea surfaced in his mind.
He could sneak away, move far away from the giant snake, dig a trap, and then return to lure the snake into it.
The trap would definitely not be able to kill something so massive, but it could restrict its movement long enough to give him a chance to strike.
"But which bloody resources am I going to use to build the trap?"
And just like that, the plan collapsed before it could even take proper shape.
He only had two options at the moment, and both of them were equally dangerous.
The first was obviously to run away.
But could he?
The snake was currently very vigilant and seemed to be scanning its surroundings carefully.
Its low, eerie hisses could be heard faintly in the silence, sending chills down his spine.
If he made any movement that produced even the slightest sound, the massive creature would detect him instantly and attack.
The second and final option was to gather his courage and fight it head-on.
Both options were foolish. Both were dangerous.
βIf I had known something like this was here, I would have completely avoided this place,β he thought bitterly.
DING!
He heard the familiar sound his system made before any notification appeared.
His heart skipped a beat as a flicker of hope rose within him. Perhaps, just this once, his system would offer him some form of assistance.
After all, there was a ninety-nine percent chance he would die here.

Floki studied the quest information, his expression growing darker and more furious with every passing second.
βGod damn it! Not a single form of assistance, and you expect me to kill that thing?β
Even if Floki wanted to remain rational at this moment, he simply could not.
His system had proven, not once but repeatedly, that it showed him no mercy and seemed intent on pushing him toward death.
βFuck!β
He clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging into his palms as frustration surged through him.
Running was not safe.
Fighting was not safe.
Standing still was not safe.
Then what?
Floki slowly opened his eyes again, forcing his breathing to stabilize as he peeked once more at the massive serpent.
The creature had shifted slightly.
Its head was raised just a little higher than before.
Its red eyes scanned the darkness lazily, yet there was a sharpness behind them that made it clear that it was aware of the presence of an intruder in its territory.
Floki did not know how to act right now.
This was the second time he was in a situation where his death was more guaranteed than his survival. The first time, there was the mysterious appearance of Breeze, and this time, he was completely alone.
While Floki was still thinking, trying desperately to come up with something.
Suddenly, the sound of wood creaking echoed faintly as the serpent queen began to move.
Floki stole a quick glance and saw that the serpent queen was crawling down the tree.
Not only was it crawling down the tree, it was currently moving in his direction, its eyes fixed on the tree he was hiding behind as though it could already tell he was there.
Floki froze for a brief second before he came back to his senses.
Hiding behind the tree was no longer safe at all. He had to move before he would be killed by the serpent queen.
The crawling sound grew louder.
The sound of twigs cracking under the serpent queenβs weight could be heard very clearly as it drew nearer with terrifying speed.
Floki did not wait for his mental countdown to strike zero anymore before he dashed into the distance.
His sudden outburst drew the attention of the serpent queen instantly.
A deep, explosive hiss burst from the serpent queen, filled with raw aggression and killing intent that made Flokiβs entire being scream for help into the unknown.
His legs pushed faster than their limits.
He would continue running if he had the chance.
Unfortunately, his stamina was limited.
βI am cooked!β
