Chapter 442: Chapter 435: Sister-in-law, My Brother Is Here

Faye Jennings’s gaze rested lightly on Clara Grant’s profile. Though her lips were curved into a smile, her eyes held a sinister chill.

’Hmph. Sister-in-law? Calling her that so soon is just asking for bad luck.’

Although she knew it was perfectly natural for Miles Quinn to call her "sister-in-law," Clara Grant still felt a little embarrassed. Blushing, she said, "I’m still not quite used to that. Why don’t you just call me Clara?"

"Of course I have to call you sister-in-law. You’ll get used to it," Miles Quinn said with a smile.

Director Keane chimed in with a laugh. "That’s right. Everything takes some getting used to. Clara, you’re so adaptable, I’m sure you’re not going to be intimidated by a simple form of address."

Clara Grant could only offer an embarrassed smile and didn’t press the issue.

...

Director Keane, full of passion, gave a vivid walkthrough of the scene. The three actors all had a quick grasp of it, so he wasn’t worried and sent them off to do a preliminary rehearsal.

The three actors returned to their positions. Clara Grant tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, and just as she was about to get into character, she heard a low murmur ripple through the set.

Miles Quinn’s voice sounded next to her. "Sister-in-law, my brother’s here. I bet he came just to see you in this scene."

Clara Grant’s hand, which had been adjusting her hair, froze. She lifted her gaze toward the source of the commotion and, sure enough, saw Seth Quinn standing tall and straight among the crowd not far away.

He truly was an exceptional man. No matter where he was, he stood out from the crowd, distinguished and extraordinary.

Clara had thought that after she’d intentionally told the taxi driver to lose him, he would have taken the hint and gone back to the city. After all, he’d mentioned yesterday that he had important business at the company to deal with today.

But to her surprise, he had followed her here anyway.

Seth Quinn, of course, saw Clara too. As she looked at him, he was also staring intently back at her.

In that instant, it was as if she was the only one in his eyes. The people around them who were trying to greet him and all the chaotic noise seemed to vanish. The world fell silent, leaving only the two of them locked in a profound, affectionate gaze.

Yes, a profound, affectionate gaze.

To any outsider, their locked gazes would naturally seem like the deeply affectionate exchange of two people passionately in love.

Even Miles Quinn, standing right beside her, didn’t notice anything amiss. He leaned in and teased in a low voice, "Easy there, sister-in-law. You’ve got an audience."

Clara snapped back to reality and tore her gaze away from Seth Quinn. Thinking about how Seth had deceived her—a matter Miles was likely aware of too—she turned and shot him an irritated glare.

Baffled by her glare, Miles Quinn could only offer a smile and a shrug.

Seeing that Clara was no longer looking at him, Seth Quinn couldn’t help but sigh internally. An assistant director hurried over to his side, exchanged a few pleasantries, and then had someone bring a chair. It was placed just off set, but as close to Clara as possible. After respectfully seeing Seth seated, the assistant director hurried back to his post.

Then, the rehearsal began.

Clara performed wonderfully, and everyone else was perfectly in sync, so the rehearsal went well. Director Keane gave the green light to officially start filming.

The actors took their positions, and every department was ready. Liam Keane, watching from the monitor, called out, "Action!" and everyone instantly got into character.

Clara had done a lot of prep for this scene, running lines with Holly Summers several times and having just completed the rehearsal. As a result, her performance was effortless and masterful.

..."Tina" gazed lovingly at "Young Master Kingston," her eyes holding only him. Suddenly, her sixth sense screamed that something was wrong up ahead. She whipped her head around to look.

Someone up ahead was aiming a gun at "Young Master Kingston." "Tina’s" wide eyes instantly filled with panic.

Perhaps her performance was too convincing, the panic in her eyes too genuine, but Seth Quinn, sitting upright in his chair, suddenly felt his heart lurch.
